Her name is Gina and she was inspired to pump iron as a teenager by Cory Everson's 'ideal female physique'. Thank you Cory. Her name is Gina and she started bodybuilding seriously at 22, and nine years later walked on stage for the first time at the 1999 Lackland Classic. She won.

Her name is Gina and she was at her peak in 2004, winning the overall title at the NPC Nationals. It was her third attempt at the competition. Her career as a pro was short-lived and she made only one appearance in 2006 at the Europa Super Show before retiring. Perhaps this is the secret of her enduring appeal. She left us wanting more.

Her name is Gina and from talking to other femuscle fans and reading posts on blogs and forums, I reckon she figures in pretty much everyone's top 10 of all-time. We might have our own pet favourites, but Gina we share.

Her name is Gina and many many times I have imagined myself into that hotel room with her. For no one but me she displays her groin-activating muscles. She is as ripped as ever. Skin and beautiful beautiful muscles. I die in that room. No one has ever died happier.

Her name is Gina, not Geena. But it's handy the two names sound the same. More than once I've answered 'Who is your perfect woman?' by saying Gina Davis. No one ever asked me how Gina was spelt. And someone even bought me The Long Kiss Goodnight. Try it if someone asks you, it's quite fun. And if there's another female muscle fan in the room, you might be able to tell by his or her reaction.

Her name is Gina and when I dream of being washed up on the Island of Female Muscle, Gina is always the Queen who I am taken before (of course I charm the shit out of her and she decides to keep me as her concubine).

Her name is Gina and this female muscle slave has probably spent more seed on account of her feminine muscular perfection than any other woman. Who knows how many novels she has cost me?

Her name is Gina and Cory was great and all but in my humble opinion, sometime around 2003-2004, there was only one 'ideal physique'. And it was Gina.

Her name is Gina and she's still got it. By my reckoning she must be approaching her mid-forties now. And as these pictures show, she still has sex appeal in spades. How many women wouldn't want a body like this at 45?

Rumour has it her man is a lot younger than her. Why am I not surprised?

It's A Dog's Life

This unknown hottie isn't just into exercising her own body. She's also sensitive to her pooch's needs. And what it needs is a bit of parklife.

A powerful lady needs a powerful lady to keep her under control. No problems here for Wilyporn Wannaklang then. They are probably both a little frightening when worked up and in heat. Frightening in a good way.

Tammy Jones, Fanny Palou and Lisette Valdes with their pampered pooches. Tammy's kitty seems to be slightly jealous of not being the centre of attention, while Lisette's looks particularly amazed with his luck.

I've posted this before, wondering whether this dog wouldn't rather chew on Christa Bauch's bicep than his rubber whatever. She's obviously having fun though.

Tummy Love

Hard sexy midriffs for your viewing pleasure along with some real news from my own life and apologies for the lack of posting recently...

She works so hard to get it. Is it any wonder she wants to show it off?

Now, there are plenty of examples out there in webland of guys dreaming of their girlfriend working out more, building muscle, achieving a sexy six-pack. Just one example: I love my girlfriend, and she’s absolutely gorgeous, but she’s got a little bit of extra fat around the middle and on her thighs. It’s not a lot. She isn’t hanging out over her jeans or anything. But she doesn’t have really tight abs, and I have this weird fetish I guess for tummies. Should I just let it go, or should I tell her I’d like her to work on her abs? Does this make me a bad person? She’s off to uni now where she’ll be cooking her own food, and she eats mostly vegetarian stuff than the crap her parents make her at home, so that’ll probably help her shed a bit of it, but I really, really would like her to have a tight tummy. I know it’s cuz I watch too many movies and things where the hot girls all have tight abs, but I can’t help it. I just like it. I feel guilty for wanting her to change her appearance, even if only slightly.

My current partner makes me a very happy man. Not only is she beautiful, intelligent, kind and funny (well, at least I think she is!) but she has also been working out regularly now for over six months. This has come about not because I told her too, but it is, at least partly, because I got off my arse and got myself to the gym. A bit of background: I started lifting weights and eating right about three years ago, which was around the time I first met her. As I lost fat and gained muscle, she became more and more curious about exactly what I was doing to achieve these changes.

Fortunately, I resisted the urge to overdo it and push her into the gym and into the kind of fitness regime that would help her create the kind of body I had always dreamed of, rather than letting her find her own way and set her own goals. Instead, I answered her questions about how I'd changed my diet or just what was in the 'magic' drink I always glugged when I got back from my workouts, and before long, she had joined a fitness club and was going four times a week. Since her body started to change, it has not been hard to be generous with the compliments. She isn't gaining muscle, she's not going to turn into a bodybuilder, but she is more toned and firm all over, and I'm sure if I keep up the workouts, so will she.

Maybe good things do come to those who wait. If this had been happening with another girl at another time in my life, I probably wouldn't have played it so cool, been too pushy and made a mess of it. More than the changes in her body, the boost to her self-confidence that being able to wear what she wore at 18 again (she's now 30) has helped her in every aspect of her professional and personal life. Really.

So my advice to anyone wanting their partner to get to the gym is this: go to the gym yourself. Keep at it, don't expect it to be easy, and don't expect to see much progress unless you adopt a suitable diet. And then, if your partner starts liking what she sees, don't be pushy. It's unlikely that she'll want to become Heather Policky! Let her find her own way. The pay off won't just be a physical change.

And no, none of these women is my partner.

Hi, I'm going to be your personal trainer today. That South African dude who normally trains you had to fly back home, family thing. Might take weeks so you're mine now. And I'm Angelita. First of all, why don't you tell me about some of your goals for these sessions?
My goals? Mmmmm. I think my goals just underwent a major change...

Exchanging views with a friend today over the mainstream media interest here in the UK no longer being downright critical of muscular women, the conversation was set off by an article he'd spotted in The Sun online about Rene Campbell, our reigning British champion. In my really really optimistic way I said I hoped that we really were experiencing a sea change in how muscular women are viewed in this country. Quite rightly, he referred me to the comments below the article. A typical response was Women should not look like that - it's disgusting. etc. etc. etc. We've all heard this before. But there were at least as many positive comments as negative ones, although many of the positives have been accused of merely being Rene's friends! Nevertheless, I still feel it's getting better all the time. The ladies above might not attract so many negative comments, and, as I know all too well, if you start finding women with this amount of muscle turn you on, well, pretty soon Rene Campbell will be floating your boat too.

I really do find it hard to understand why some guys don't find muscle on a woman attractive. Maybe somewhere there is another blog where this very minute someone is typing a similar sentence about overweight ladies! Each to his own, absolutely. But I ain't swapping mine for anything.

All the same, female muscle slavery can be a frustrating experience. When I started out on this journey, I was a teenage boy, a boy with dreams of going through life and actually finding my own muscle girl. Or at least getting to know some. Or at least meeting some. Or at least seeing them from time to time out in public. In fact, I've come to realise that unless you are at a gym, the chances, in this country anyway, are really really remote of seeing a woman with even the slightest bit of muscle on her. There are simply not enough of them to go around.

I've reported every female muscle sighting I've had since the blog started, the Spotted series. There are six. One of them wasn't really muscular, just had nice calves (ain't complaining, but I'm trying to paint a picture), and another didn't like her own calf muscles, causing a bit of consternation from yours truly. OK, so four women with muscle in eight months. Not enough. Not nearly enough. And I live in London. And my femuscle radar is honed: if there were a lot of muscle babes out there, I would spot them.

Perhaps I should have just gone to America? To the land of female muscle opportunity.
Swell, just come. There are women like me on every beach, in every bar, at every gym. We're in hotel foyers. Posing in swimsuits in car parks. You can't move without seeing a bunch of us half-naked. Many many women like me, and many of them are even bigger.
Or perhaps I'm just getting a skewed picture of the States from the (femuscle) media?

I have no idea what to write about this photo. When contemplating it I involuntarily produced a sound akin to that of a silverback male gorilla who has not mated for a while and has just spotted a particularly sexy female. No idea what to write.

Maybe the reason there are no sexy muscle ladies to spot here is that they are either in the gym, or at home, admiring themselves with their cameraphones. Maybe. These hot sexy bods are probably American though.
Typical.

I would probably set my house on fire if I knew she worked for the local fire brigade. Once, maybe twice a year.

You Can’t Trust A Man Called Piers

News that Piers ‘Morgan’ Moron (© Private Eye) thinks Madonna’s arms are too muscular is resolutely refusing to go away. Once a self-publicist, always a self-publicist, and re-locating to the USA (my condolences) hasn’t affected Piers’ ability to generate column inches for himself. Seeing as David Furnish had already put the boot in on Her Madgesty after the Golden Globes, Piers, couldn’t resist kicking a woman when she’s down, and getting himself all over the media just before a new series of his US talk show begins. Yawn.

Wait! I hear you cry. Aren’t you just adding to those column inches? Don’t do it! Walk away!

I hear you, but here in the UK we haven’t forgotten exactly why it is that Mr ‘Morgan’ Moron has gone stateside. The condensed version is that when he was the editor of the UK daily newspaper The Mirror, it was, according to one of the senior journalists who worked for him, ‘very unlikely’ that he did not know that phone hacking was used by representatives of his newspaper, and Piers said as much to the recent enquiry into the phone hacking scandal: Mr Morgan admitted he had listened to a tape recording of a voicemail message left by Sir Paul on his then wife’s mobile phone was how it was reported by The Daily Mail. So, someone played him a tape recording of a message left on Heather Mill’s voicemail, but he didn’t know that people who worked for his newspaper were hacking phones. Yeah, right. And this from the man who resigned because his paper had printed fake pictures of British soldiers abusing Iraqi prisoners, and I think you can see why Piers thought a trip West would be a good move.

You can’t trust what comes out of Piers. In some instances, the opposite of what he says is, in fact, the truth. So let’s assume that Piers wasn’t breaking the habit of a lifetime and that what he said about Madonna and her arms isn’t really what he thinks at all. He’s given us no reason to believe him before, why should we do it now?

And if Piers was lying, how does he really feel about Madonna, and her ‘caveman’ arms? The only reasonable conclusion is he thinks they’re hot. He doesn’t want her on his show because he knows he won’t be able to control himself. Minutes into the interview the urge to jump over his desk, grab Madge’s bicep and start slavering all over it will be too much. And then he’ll be finished in America too.

Since the Piers/Madonna story broke, Female Muscle Slave has been tirelessly hacking Mr ‘Morgan’ Moron’s phone and personal computer, and we can reveal, exclusively, that Piers is one of us. A female muscle addict. Some of the evidence is presented below. All the pictures were recovered from the ‘Morgan’ Moron phone or PC.

Heather Foster left a voicemail on Piers’ phone soon after the TV interview threatening to come over and punch him into next week if he mentioned any other woman’s arms again. Lisa Giesbrecht left a similarly angry message, promising Piers that he had licked cream off her biceps for the last time, while Betty Viana was so angry she had to resort to her native Spanish to express herself fully. The Female Muscle Slave translation team are still working on the English transcription of the message. So far, they have Now listen you hairless boy who licks fuck sticks… We imagine much of the rest of the message will be unprintable.

This picture of Kim Perez was recovered by our hacking team from a folder named ‘You’re So Vein’. Get it? His gift for language is stunning, isn’t it? Also in the folder was a document in which Piers laid out what he’d like to do to poor Kim’s vascular pythons. Needless to say, it wasn’t ‘ban them from television’.

This stunning pic of Aleesha Young was Piers’ most recent screensaver. No, really.

Skadi Frei actually sent this picture of herself to Piers after she heard his comments on a Swiss news channel. These are big arms you silly little man, her e-mail read. Now I dare you to come to my house in the Alps and call me a caveman to my face. Julie Bourassa was also in touch soon after the interview. I could crush your head like a grape, she said on his voicemail. And if you bag muscular women publicly again, I just might. Marja Lehtonen also called to say that Thursday at 2pm is fine. Piers hasn’t been seen since he boarded a flight from New York to Helsinki on Wednesday night.

A hacked e-mail exchange with Sarah Hayes further reveals Piers’ female muscle lovin’ tendencies. Mr ‘Morgan’ Moron begs Sarah for a muscle worship session, and when Sarah explains she doesn’t do sessions, Not for anyone, and especially not for you, there follows much undignified pleading from Piers.

Sarah finally threatens to forward the entire exchange to his wife in order to get him off her case, to which Piers replies, Do it! I’m leaving her for Fabiola Boulanger anyway! Now, a terrible liar and a bit of a pest he may be, but at least he’s got good taste (when it comes to muscle women anyway).

And finally, this image of the magnificent Brigita Brezovac looking particularly magnificent was one of the ones that came up when the hacking team searched his phone for ‘Most Recent Documents’. In fact, if our time calculations are correct, he must have banged one out to Brigita just after his interview finished, rushing to the studio toilet as soon as his mic was off. No, that’s unfair that last bit. That’s just something I made up. He probably waited until he got in the lift to do that. Or the limo. Or both.

The Marsh Effect

Back in October, in my post about Jody Marsh's new bodybuilding career, I wondered if Jodie's physique may or may not inspire one, ten, a hundred, a thousand, or ten thousand women to go to the gym. Well, I haven't had to wait very long to find tangible evidence that at least one woman has indeed taken up bodybuilding because of her. At least partly because of her anyway.

Ms Marsh, good-time girl turned Mrs Muscle, this is all your fault. You and Fit Guy, alias Will Sturgeon, my personal trainer, who during one routine session randomly suggested I might like to try bodybuilding.

The quote above from Ruth Walker's bodybuilding diary in The Scotsman online serves not only as proof that The Marsh Effect is real and working, but also reads as a 'You Should Totally Take Up Bodybuilding' sermon for the ladies. And here is the author...

If you can't be arsed to read the whole thing, my favourite bits are below. And as a reward for not clicking away, I've broken up the quotes with some pics of muscular lovelies putting in the kind of effort Ruth describes.

Week one was the worst. It almost broke me – physically and mentally. “I can’t do this,” I cried, my feeble arms wobbling, 40kg of weight on a 10kg bar, commonly known as drop-set bench presses. “Yes you can,” said Sturgeon. “No I can’t,” I cried, pleadingly. “Yes you can.” It turns out he was right. Just.

So, I suppose you want to hear that things got easier in weeks two and three? That I started to notice a difference? But the honest answer is no, it didn’t. It was pure, relentless hard work. I was tired. I was fed up eating smoked salmon and cottage cheese and scrambled eggs and grilled chicken. Those four sessions were taking a huge chunk out of my week and I wanted my life back. And maybe some chocolate.

But I kept going. I’m not even sure when the turning point came. Maybe it was the moment Sturgeon turned to me and said, “Not bad – you realise you’ve just bench-pressed your own body weight?” Or, mid dumbbell chest-press, when he said, “Most men can’t lift those weights.” Or maybe it was the e-mail from a (female) colleague that read, “Your delts are looking RIPPED!”

I lifted weights that had previously made me weep just to look at them, I grunted and grimaced in an unladylike fashion and, I’m embarrassed to say, I did stop to admire my developing delts in the gym mirror (only when I thought no one else was looking). Marsh has created a monster. The thing is, I rather like her.

Four weeks into the challenge, while on holiday, a stranger walked up to me and told me she had arm envy. And that was it, I had the bug. I liked feeling strong and toned and, perhaps surprisingly, powerfully feminine.

The challenge is all but over and, in a fairly elastic six weeks I’ve lost a mind-boggling 32.7 per cent body fat (eat my sweaty gym shorts, Jodie) and gained 5lb of lean muscle. The increase in my resting metabolic rate means I now burn an extra 112 calories a day. I have gone from chest-pressing a feeble 40kg to a much more impressive 60kg. My bicep curl has increased from 20kg to 30kg and my shoulder-press max weight has gone from 50kg to an incredible 80kg. When I do a tricep dip, I do it across two benches with a 20kg weight on my stomach.

I feel strong, healthy and physically confident. I won’t be standing on a stage in my swimwear any time soon, but I’m wearing my calloused, weight-ravaged hands with pride. As for the rest of the stuff 2012 throws at me: bring it on.

So, in summary, through pumping iron, Ruth has greatly increased her physical strength. It has also given her a body she is proud of, a body that attracts admiration and envy from other women, strangers and colleagues. This, in turn has led to greater self-confidence in her ability to tackle anything life throws at her.

Now, I know a few women who would love a bit of that! I might just have to email them the link to Ruth's blog 'by accident'.

Real Iron Ladies

Personally, I've nothing against Hollywood making its own version of my country's history, but I can't have Maggie the Terrible held up as a symbol of strong British womanhood anymore. She shifted our national assets off to the highest bidders, made 'Trade Union' a dirty word, drove a stake through the heart of our public services, and once, I distinctly remember, after the Argentinian submarine Belgrano had been (illegally) sunk by the British Navy, turned to a live TV camera and ordered the country to 'rejoice'.

Couldn't stand the woman and she still makes my skin crawl. And I'm English. My advice to anyone who's not from the UK is to never, and I mean never, ask someone from Wales, Scotland or (God help you) Ireland what they think about Maggie. By the time they've finished answering your question there may be several people lying dead around you.

So I consider it nothing less than my patriotic duty to remind my non-British readers that there have been some real iron ladies from this country, and none of them look like a recently-emptied hoover bag with a wig on.

Queen Andrulla I

The first and so far only British woman to be crowned Miss Olympia, Andrulla is now on the banknotes. She doesn't actually hold any real power, her role is ceremonial, and she acts as a unifying symbol of Britishness. There was some controversy after her coronation, when she insisted on having her bicep, rather than her hand, kissed by those lucky enough to be presented to her, but we all soon got used to this new practice. I, for one, am very proud to have such a magnificent woman as my Queen. Long may she reign!

Bernie Price, Duchess of Westminster

The 1992 NABBA Miss Universe is rarely seen in public life these days, but she still holds a special place in the nation's heart. Particularly for men of a certain age (like yours truly) who can remember the Duchess in her prime.

Dame Paula Bircumshaw

Dame Paula, you may recall, was the victim of one of the greatest judging travesties in the history of a sport riddled with them. As Wikipedia reminds us, [at the 1992 Ms. International, won by Anja Schreiner] Bircumshaw was the same height as Schreiner and possessed a similar level of symmetry and definition, but carried significantly more muscle, weighing in at 162 pounds. She was the clear audience favorite, but was relegated to eighth place. Normally, the top ten contestants are called out at the end of the show when the winners are announced, but the judges only called back the top six, hoping to keep Bircumshaw back stage. This resulted in an uproar from the crowd. With the audience chanting her name, Bircumshaw returned to the stage along with the top six competitors. A national outcry ensued, and 'our Paula' was given a hero's welcome when she arrived back in the country, and her bravery in the face of adversity assured her of a special place in the hearts of the British people forever.

Dame Joanne McCartney

Minister of Legs in the late '80s and early '90s, Joanne was made a Dame for her services to skin tight clothing. More recently, she's been the go-to girl for successive political administrations when disagreements have arisen with the Russian government, being sent to Moscow to wrestle it out with the Tsar, Vladimir Putin, who is always keen for a grapple with her (and who can blame him). Joanne always gets her way once she has his head between her thighs. Keep working on those judo skills Vlad!

Joanne Lee

At the height of her power, Joanne was Minister for Justice, which she would personally dispense. There was very litle crime in those days, but the job took its toll on Joanne, and she briefly disappeared from public life before emerging in a newer, softer guise, and working her way back into the Cabinet, this time as Minister for Christmas.

Joanne Thomas, Duchess of Cornwall

They do things differently, the Cornish, so being represented by such a fine specimen of their magical county does them proud. Joanne was responsible for the reintroduction of the Cornish language in schools and signage there, and has spoken openly of her desire to have her birthplace become an independent state, with herself as the monarch. It's a popular move, and one that may well come to pass, but for now she still counts as a Brit, so I'm getting her in while I can.

Louise Rogers, British Ambassador in Washington

When they ask little British girls what they want to be when they grow up, 'Louise Rogers' is a popular answer. And who can blame them? Radiant, strong, and effortlessly cool, Louise is a paragon of modern British womanhood. The perfect choice for our representative in Washington, she was appointed only last year, just after she became a professional diplomat, but already she has several high-profile men on Capitol Hill eating out of the palm of her hand. Literally.

Prime Minister Rene Campbell

The current British champion and Prime Minister, Rene was a virtually unknown local politician a year ago. Her meteoric rise to power has been so unexpected that, inevitably, rumours of wrongdoing started to spread, but only until Rene got her hands on the journalist who started them. And her popularity soared after the last EU summit when she ripped up the Merkhozy plan, lifted up Mr Sarkhozy by the crotch with one arm, and popped Mrs Merkel in the mouth.

Rosanna Harte, Leader of the Opposition

Despite being considered a political lightweight by many, Rosanna was only narrowly defeated at the polls by Rene this year. Critics say her policies are flimsy, and she owes her popularity to her ravishing looks alone, but she has more than held her own in exchanges with Rene Campbell at Prime Minister's Question Time, even defeating the current PM in an armwrestle during a debate on education.

Lady Kizzy Vaines

Us British guys do like a bit of 'posh totty', and Lady Kizzy is our current number one poster girl, adorning the walls of mechanics' workshops up and down the land. When a film starring Kizzy, I Want Muscle, was released, queues the like of which are only normally seen at Wimbledon snaked around cinemas all over the country, even though it's only two minutes' long! DVD sales are expected to break all known records.

Lisa Cross, National Treasure

Lisa is loved and admired by all for her selfless dedication to the promotion of Britain around the world, and particularly for her recent work in the USA. Our current number one 'Iron Lady', 2012 looks like it will be another great year for her, and by association, Britain. Go Lisa!

According to statistics, you've probably ditched your New Year's resolution by now, decided you don't like your job anymore and applied for another. You are also probably dealing with a little post-Christmas downtime, and it's still (here in the UK anyway) going to be at least a couple of months before spring, when the ladies start to shed those winter layers, and the possibility of a little female muscle perving arises again. You might need a little cheering up then, and there's nothing that cheers me up more than some sexy, muscular tummies...

Jessica, You're Gorgeous

It’s never good to hear that a beautiful, muscular woman doesn’t like the way she looks, so alarm bells rang when I saw the headline 'Heptathlon world champion Jessica Ennis admits body insecurity' in yesterday’s Daily Mail.

The article is basically a big advert for the new issue of the UK Marie Claire, which has Jessica on the cover, draped in the flag. The gist of the Mail’s take on it is that Jessica feels her ‘muscular’ figure (it’s not that muscular, Iris Kyle she ain’t but that’s the word she uses) isn’t feminine, and merely a ‘tool’ for her career.

However, as I read the article in full, and other articles that appeared in UK newspapers and on celebrity and sports websites today, basically reporting exactly what the Mail had, it became clear that all of them were actually positive about Jessica’s appearance, and all of them mentioned how great she looks in the Marie Claire shoot.

From the Mail: Jessica looks stunning in the magazine's shoot, in which she shows off her incredible figure wearing some very revealing sportswear. From the Star: As these pictures prove, she has got sex appeal. From the Mirror: If looking stunning was an Olympic sport, Jessica Ennis would win gold every time… but believe it or not, she doesn’t reckon she’s a beauty, although there are a million fans who would argue.

A million indeed. In terms of UK searches, only Pippa Middleton has more than Jessica with the word ‘bum’ attached. And that shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to her, as she was, according to the Telegraph, ‘Rear of the Year’ at secondary school.

Comments on the articles are pretty much all positive, and many of them refer to her physique as desirable, more desirable than typically celebrated mainstream body types:

I think you look amazing, give me toned athletic rather than stick insect any day! Good luck Jessica, I'll be rooting for you this summer!

She blows all these ‘celebs’ away.

She is a real stunner, far better than any professional model.

The journalists who wrote the articles, the public who commented on them (or merely searched for pictures of her bum!), and also indeed the man she is engaged to, all agree that she is attractive, very attractive, and that her honed, athletic physique is very much part of that attraction.

So why this insecurity? Another of the comments hits the nail on the head I think: It [Jessica’s attitude to her body]’s not surprising. The media has decided it’s OK to tell women ‘curvy’ means you’re really female [feminine] and if you are slim or don’t have big boobs, you’re worthless. Not the best sentence ever written in English, but insightful nonetheless, and I agree with the poster that, to some extent at least, Jessica Ennis has been conditioned by the media to dislike her own fabulously toned, athletic body.

Tragic as that may be, it’s clear that Jessica is holding a minority opinion. And once again I am pleasantly surprised that the British press and the British public have reacted to a beautiful but muscular (well, toned and athletic) woman in a positive way. And that's not a bad start to 2012.

Judge for yourself if Jessica needs to lose muscle to be beautiful and feminine.

Women of the Year

It's that time of year when idiot journalists and TV producers make stupid lists of The Best/Worst/Biggest/Dumbest/Most Earth-Shattering Moments/Men/Women/Songs/ Whatevers of the year. You can't turn on the TV for these shows. So I'm not going to do that. It's not a list, it's a collection. It's not the same thing at all. Really.

I've chosen six because six is the number of finalists in most bodybuilding contests (if there are at least six competitors anyway - aren't those scenes of female muscle contests where there is only one competitor in a class odd?). Six it is. And they are in no particular order. They're all winners.

I'm not saying they are the best bodybuilders in the world today, nor that they have been the best in the world in 2011. But I am saying that these six women, some new to me this year, others familiar from 2010 or even before, have been on swell's mind (and screen) rather a lot this year.

So, without further ramblings, I give you what is the inaugural
Female Muscle Slave's Women of the Year.

Kashma Maharaj: The Caribbean Queen

Unknown to me at the start of the year, Kashma’s magnificently muscled body was all over the forums by the summer, even if often mistakenly identified as being from India! When we all realised where she was really from, this year’s national championships in Trinidad suddenly became an event that was eagerly anticipated. And I for one was not disappointed by the clips of her victory once they in turn had been posted. In the last couple of months, photo sets and clips on female muscle sites have been appearing, and she’s spoken of plans to compete in the USA in 2012.

Kashma is clearly a very smart woman. Apart from having impressive professional qualifications in Finance, the fact that she has come so far in so little time is all the more impressive as she has made such a splash while coming from a part of the world where widespread recognition has traditionally been hard to get without relocating to North America. And nobody can she that she’s unambitious: My goal is to be the future Miss Olympia and revolutionise this sport with a new look and attitude, encourage more women to compete and adopt the BB lifestyle and be a role model for a healthy lifestyle to all people. ‘All people’? Wow.

Her dark, exotic looks, her Trinidadian accent, and her big sexy muscles have certainly all worked their magic on me. I could watch her pert Caribbean bottom walking along the beach till the sun goes down, and her whole upper body is beautifully developed. I could spend hours rubbing my hands over that deliciously wide back. In fact, I have probably spent hours fantasising about it this year!

Some men are intimidated by me, not only because I am a female bodybuilder but also because I am a smart, independent and extroverted woman naturally. Women have questioned my sexual preference and even made suggestions to me but while I may entertain conversation, I make it quite clear that I am totally into men. Good. That’s cleared that up. We can all go on dreaming.

Kashma says, I love being big, strong, powerful and seeing the changes in my physique. I also love getting up on stage and posing. I love watching her being big, strong and powerful. I take great pleasure in seeing her physique change, and when she gets up on stage, ripped, oiled and strutting around in her bikini, well… let’s just say it gets the blood pumping. Are we sharing the same dream?

Predicting big things for Kashma in 2012. If she keeps on achieving like she has been this year, the world will be hers before long.

Fabiola Boulanger: Professional Female Bodybuilder

This year, Fabiola Boulanger joined the pro ranks, her victory at the Canadian Championships no surprise as her body has been a thing of wonder for the last couple of years. There are few women in the sport now (and not that many women in the sport ever) who have the ‘total package’. Fabiola is most definitely one of them.

Those shoulders, like plates of armour. Huge, pulsating veins snaking all over. Her abs, so thick and defined. Solid solid pecs, beautifully striated. And her legs! Definition everywhere. Look at the teardrops above the knees, have you ever seen anything so kissable? A sight to set a female muscle addict’s heart racing.

She is covered, top to bottom, with the kind of bulging, rippling muscularity that I am more used to seeing in female muscle art than on real female bodybuilders themselves. She’s like a fantasy superheroine. I can totally see her in a skin tight bodysuit with a big F on the front, flexing her biceps before saving the world. Perhaps in her first pro routine she will whip the audience into a frenzy by flying around the auditorium and back to the stage as a big finish!

I wish to show the world that female bodybuilders can be feminine and beautiful, says Fabiola, and I think we can all agree that she’s certainly doing that, and is certainly not a woman who could be accused of ‘looking like a man’. She hasn’t sacrificed any of her femininity while getting such mouth-wateringly huge muscles, and I think as a direct consequence of that she received quite a lot of media attention in Quebec after her win at the Nationals.

From the articles and TV appearances of hers I’ve seen and my O-level French can make out, Fabi makes a fantastic spokeswoman for the sport. I’m proud of the way I look, and will stick to my regimen forever because I couldn’t stand to look different. It gives me confidence and great self esteem. I have a healthy lifestyle and it gives me the independence that most women could just dream to have.

Fabiola is going to be competing in the USA in 2012. Competing and winning I dare say. And fighting crime and injustice in her spare time. Go Super Fabi!

Ginger Martin: Hot Muscle (Grand)Mom

I am a sucker for her husky Southern accent and the way she obviously loves showing off every inch of her hard work. Her clips on Gincraze2009, her You Tube channel and the previews at Physique Dreams on Daily Motion are all winners, and I’ve also seen a few webcam clips of her that are so hot they can roast your chestnuts. She’s got four children, and this year became both a grandmother and overall champion at the NPC Texas State Championships.

Now, if I was a teenager with a friend whose Mum looked like Ginger, well I’d probably be doing all I could to spend as much time as possible at their house. Ginger working out in the garage, me sneaking away from the Xbox party to watch from the bathroom window… And if I was the father of one of her kids’ friends, I wouldn’t be complaining about picking up my spawn from Ginger’s house. Ginger working out in the garage, me casually strolling up the drive and offering to spot her…

But enough of that. Seriously, what an advert, what an inspiration to women. Middle-aged? Not getting the admiring looks you once did? Train the Ginger way and soon men half your age will be tripping over their tongues as you walk by. Set yourself up for a webshow and watch the schmoe dollars cascade into your bank account. More older women training and looking like Ginger? Por favor seňor!

The pics from her Texas win show her very very ripped and very very vascular, a look I go completely gaga for. So part of me is sad that she has decided to focus on the Physique Class next year and won’t be going for the same pumped-up look. But at the same time, she does seem to be more naturally suited to that category, and if she’s successful, the fact of her age will hopefully be enough to generate a bit of positive media for the sport. Here’s hoping!

Remember. This woman you are drooling over is a grandmother!

Cinderella Landolt: Fitness Princess

Once upon a time there was a beautiful fitness fanatic from Switzerland, whose face was so beautiful and whose body was so fit and sexy that when she posted pictures of herself on the internet, lots and lots of men from all over the world started to send her money… check out her website if you have some spare cash … and she became more and more famous and more and more people signed up for her training programs. And she lived happily ever after, and so did her fans, whose insatiable appetite for images of this fairytale princess had made her rich, and no longer in need of a prince charming, although she could still have one if she wanted. But on her terms.

More seriously, is this a blueprint for female fitness women or what? I’m not saying Cinderella invented this career path, but she’s pulling it off very slickly, don’t you think? Mind you, she has a first-rate product to market. Tall, athletic and stunningly beautiful, and with one hell of a memorable name, she does have everything going for her. But still, you have to run with it, and she is sprinting.

Long dark hair, and a set of abs that were made to be massaged and licked all night. Eyes shine with health and vitality, and then there’s her long shapely legs. And she’s very friendly on the forums, always replying to compliments from other members and seeming genuinely pleased to hear from fans. ‘You’re so beautiful – awesome physique.’ ‘Cindy, you’re an angel. We love you.’ ‘Simply the hottest female fitness model out there now.’ ‘The body you have built is perfect.’ ‘I’m sure that you were just as lovely before you ever touched your first weight.’ Now what woman wouldn’t want to get compliments like this on a daily basis? And how many women would be able to deal with it so nicely?

She says, It’s ALL down to the Alp air and Swiss cheese.

PS. I haven't been able to locate any clips of Cindy for the downloads or tube videos pages. Just want to be clear that this is due to lack of material. It's certainly not that I don't think she's worth watching in motion!

Penpraghai Tiangngok: Webcam Star

Another woman on the list who was utterly unknown to me at the beginning of the year, and furthermore, a woman whose name I am not 100% sure how to pronounce, Penpraghai, like Kashma and Cinderella, came to my attention on the forums, and I have spent more and more time ‘with’ her as the year has gone on. This is mainly because I’ve got hold of some of her webcam clips, and they are among the most stimulating I have ever had the pleasure of viewing.

But before I go on to wax lyrical about this exotic beauty’s sensational physique, there’s something that needs to be said. WTF can’t people look at a gorgeous muscular Thai woman without thinking that she must have been a he once. For God’s sake, or maybe that should be Buddha’s sake, not all Thai women used to be men! And what exactly is it about her that makes these people think she’s a transsexual, or a ladyboy? Can’t see it myself. She looks like she’s all woman to me, and she’s got more of what most women want than most women have. Pure sex appeal. Feminine sex appeal. Now please, put your stereotypes in a box and throw them in the river. That’s better.

She is also a really really exciting poser. She really seems to understand the fetishism of sthenolagnia, the thrill of seeing muscles displayed. As mentioned before, her webcam clips are off-the-scale hot, full of knowing glances to camera, and adoring gazes at her peaking biceps as she flexes. She knows how to rub the oil on and make you wish it was you doing the rubbing, and she’s also a muscle control pro, especially good with her glutes. After viewing her latest webcam clip, a friend of mine said she made him think of a tribe of exotic, strong Amazons all looking like Penpraghai. I knew what he meant immediately. Who among us hasn’t dreamed of a strange island populated by gorgeous muscular female warriors who need a man to mate with them? When he washed up ashore a group of female warriors welcomed him, tended to his wounds and took him to their queen, who was the strongest and most beautiful of all, and who told him that he would die unless he mated with the entire tribe…

Katka Kyptova: Horký Materiál

According to Google Translator, that’s Hot Stuff. And although I doubt that works, I like the sound of the word, horký, sounds like a combination of hot and horny with a k in it. Katka Kyptova, definitely one of the horkíest women alive.

Let’s not relive her 2nd place at the Arnold Europe, collectively we have said enough about it, see previous post. What I want to talk about, and what makes Katka one of my Women of the Year was the decision she made before the Arnold Europe to dye her hair black.

Don’t get me wrong, I thought Katka was well horký with blond hair. But I’ve always preferred sultry, dark-haired women, so when I first saw Katka had gone that way, she went off my horký scale completely.

Worryingly, she also announced that she was quitting bodybuilding. I wish she wouldn’t. Her horkíness aside, there’s something about Katka, that star quality that female bodybuilding needs. Someone who has the ability to reach out to people outside the female muscle sub-culture, someone who cannot be dismissed as a manly steroid-freak, and make them see muscle women in a new light.

Ravishing. I look at this picture long enough and I actually feel like she has ravished me. Those eyes, those lips, and oh my, those pecs! Phwoarrr! And another bonus we’ve had this year from Katka is that she has spent more and more time taking her top off and getting her groin-tingling pecs out in all their glory. Horkíssimo!

Let’s hope Katka continues dying her hair, taking her top off and, most importantly, bodybuilding in 2012. It will be a sad loss if she turns her back on it.

There are a lot of different dogs in the world, but when someone says the word ‘dog’, we all have a general idea of what they mean because we all share a general idea of what all dog have in common. In philosophy, this general idea is a concept.

Now, I think we can all agree that there are definitely not enough women in the world who have well-developed biceps. Seeing them in real life is such a rare occurrence for me that I am forced to scour the internet for them! This rarity has an effect on the general idea, the concept, of what biceps on a woman looks like.

Now, me and you, when we think of female biceps, might imagine those displayed by Sarah Hayes above, or maybe Birgita’s magnificent pair. We might just as well imagine Nataliya Romashko’s works in progress, or Andrea Thiel flexing both barrels as she opens the door to welcome us to her home for a night of muscle worship. This is our concept of a female bicep. Our bicept.

But the others, those cursed with an aversion to muscular women, or those that simply don’t scour the internet for images of them, where does their biception come from?

Today I overheard a conversation while I was tucking into my green curry at Greenwich Market. Two women were talking about a mutual friend and how big her biceps were getting. They weren’t being negative, just incredulous that this friend seemed to like showing off her big arms.

Apart from thoughts of getting to know the women at the next table so I could get to see their friend showing off her arms, images started to spring to mind. Images of women with big arms. Images that reflect my bicept. Images like this one of the gorgeous Lyris Capelle.

They mentioned her fiancée (Curses! Foiled again!) and suddenly something like this flashed through my mind.

‘Too big’, I found myself thinking. This was, after all, the real world. They couldn’t be that big. Big for most people is something like this.

I’m not complaining by the way, I think they are just lovely, and I’d be proud to rub oil into either one. Or both if absolutely necessary

But then I really did come back to the real world. One of the women said ‘If she keeps going like this, she’ll be like Cameron Diaz.’ What?! As big as Cameron’s?! And not even yet, but at some point in the future ‘if she keeps going like this’?!

The general bicept, therefore, seems to be that Cameron Diaz has huge arms for a woman, whereas our group bicept is something quite different..

I wish I could have opened up the laptop and given them a taste of Alina Popa fully-pumped, Heather Policky (what would they have said about her legs?!) or Danielle Gardner, who has just slammed the door, flexed her arms and told you that she isn’t going to let you out till she’s finished with you.

If I’d shown them Carla Rossi (one bigger than the other, but both far far bigger than Cameron Diaz’s) or Amanda Micka’s big round baseballs, would it have altered their bicept forever?

Some people think it would have. And have set up a scheme whereby other women’s bicept can be re-aligned. Female bodybuilders visit women’s groups, show off their guns, and as a result, the next time one of their friend’s has arms that could maybe one day rival Cameron Diaz’s, they don’t express surprise at how big they are and get me all excited, waste my valuable Christmas shopping time, only to kill all my hopes because of their faulty, and no, I don’t think that’s too strong a word, faulty concept of what a female bicep is.

Rebecca Armstrong is seen here at one of these bicept re-alignment events. She seems to be enjoying it a little more than the other women present, doesn’t she? It’s never nice to find out you’ve been getting it all wrong. And there’s nothing better than being the one to tell them!

Treasures from the Archive: Magazine Years Part II

More of my favourites from back in the day when this then teenage female muscle fan was forced to survive on the few pictures of women in mainstream muscle magazines and his bi-monthly fix of Women’s Physique World.

Thanks to all the wonderful people who scan the women from the magazines of that era, this, and the previous 'magazine years' post wouldn’t have been possible without you.

Italian muscle fox Claudia Profanter was a huge crush of mine. Her Roman beauty (I am a sucker for Mediterranean women) and sexy muscular body had me reaching for the tissues again and again. Photos like the one on the right suggested to me that she was a very sensual poser, which made her all the sexier still. And many years later when I saw a video clip of Claudia in competition, I realised I had been right - she posed with feline grace, a lioness of a woman. Sadly, photos of Claudia, and other European bodybuilders of the time who didn’t make a permanent move to North America, were (and are) in short supply, as the mainstream muscle media was almost entirely based there. But I reckon that just makes each one more special to find. Any photo of Claudia in her pomp will be a winner.

Tonya Knight, for a while, received the kind of muscle (and more mainstream) media attention that other female bodybuilders could only dream of. There were so many photos of Tonya that by the law of averages there was going to be a few absolutely smoking ones. The two above certainly qualify as that. She was lean, strong, and muscular, but unmistakably a beautiful young woman at the same time, and became the poster girl of female bodybuilding, the one who would crush forever the image of female bodybuilders as masculine. Well, that didn’t quite happen, but when I look at Tonya’s mouth around that sax’s mouthpiece, I seriously don’t care.

Experience has taught me that it’s better to get things out into the open. But back then I was very much inexperienced in the ways of the world, and so throughout these years, I kept my fetish for muscular women absolutely top secret. Was that a bad thing? In retrospect, I think it was. But there’s no point regretting it, and at least I’m managing to be more open about it now, though I’ve still a long way to go!

I bunk off school one afternoon and head for the town centre and a large newsagent’s where I know they have a good stock of muscle magazines. Among them is one I’ve never seen before called Muscle Training Illustrated, and on the cover is Dorothy Herndon. There’s no one browsing near me so I grab it from the shelf. Hands shaking, I flick through to find her pictorial. I’m so excited my eyes can’t focus on any one picture of this vision of muscular beauty, they manically dart from bicep to shoulder, from the abs to the chest. I’m still shaking but pay and leave. I can’t get home fast enough and be alone with Dorothy, back in my private world.

Although not all the pictures had quite the effect on me that Dorothy’s did, it was more or less a similar story every time I bought a magazine for the female bodybuilders inside. I always seemed to get a huge rush of adrenaline that would make me shake, and at the same time I lost the majority of my higher brain functions and went into a kind of trance. It was exciting, I was turned on by these women, but also frightening to imagine someone I knew being in the shop and discovering my secret. And despite the fear factor, that rush became addictive, and even after I moved abroad to work in the early 1990s, once again throwing out my collection of magazines before I did so, I was unable to resist the lure of the rush that muscular women provided for me.

In the only newsagent’s in a small Tuscan town a couple of years later, a special edition of Flex magazine caught my eye and brought on the familiar rush. It was called Power and Sizzle (I think) and was the kind of publication I had always dreamed about, photos of nothing but lingerie-clad or even naked female bodybuilders, like the one of Roseanne Keyser below.

Roseanne’s flexibility, strength and beauty are all showcased here, but above all it was her legs that had me gazing in awe at this photo time and time again, imagining my hands on the beautiful muscular curves of her calves, hamstrings and glutes.

This pic of Sharon Bruneau was another most memorable one from Power and Sizzle. A beautiful woman, very feminine yet at the same time very strong and muscular, I imagined my fingers on her chest, following the striations and veins across it, feeling the muscle, worshipping her power.

Buying Power and Sizzle put me firmly back in ‘collection’ mode but again I threw out my collection when I finished working abroad. This was just before the millennium, and on returning to London I discovered exactly what this thing called ‘the internet’ that I’d heard about was. And that pretty much ended the 'magazine years’!

But before I sign off, a little tribute to two of the women from that era…

The first is Michelle Andrea, whose sultry Latin looks and mouth-watering muscular body make her one of my all-time favourites. What’s not to like? Eyes not big and dark enough for you? Hair not thick and lush enough? Is her bottom not as firm and sexy as you’d like? What about those pecs in the photo on the right – not doing it for you? Do you find insufficient definition in her thighs in those red fishnet stockings? Didn’t think so. Head to toe perfection. Wherever she is now, and whatever shape she’s in, she was once my perfect woman, and looking again at these pics of her, to be honest, she still is.

And then there was Cory Everson… In terms of what she achieved for the sport in terms of mainstream acceptance, there has been no female bodybuilder quite like her. I mean, Iris Kyle is great and everything, but I can’t imagine her getting her own workout show on ESPN! Cory was versatile, a point I’ve picked the photos above to illustrate. She could be a hot little gym bunny, muscular and defined for sure, but hardly intimidating or masculine. She could be an amazon goddess, hard, ripped and oiled, exuding power and femininity in equal measure. And she could be… well, like Marilyn Monroe… but sexier! A woman unique in the history of the sport, and a woman who, during the magazine years, I probably spent more time ‘with’ than any other.

Her superior glutes flex with every step, and as she passes the men ogling her have to turn onto their fronts to hide their excitement like falling dominoes, one by one.

Competition butts

Thongs should be compulsory, not illegal as in some bodybuilding federations. It's just doownright wrong to have to cover a body part that has been worked so hard on.

Curves

Muscle women have curves everywhere, unique curves that other women don’t have. Hard curves that you dream of running your hands along. In the pic on the left, look at the top of her glutes (it’s more pronounced from the angle if you look at the right-hand side of the photo). There’s a muscle peak at the top of the glute on the outside, then it curves back in. In the middle, the muscle under the glutes inside the hamstrings. As I have such a thing for it, I really should find out what it’s called! And on the right, her glutes have flexed outwards (!) so you can see the whole of her thong between them. She could wink at you without looking at you.

Wonder glutes

Big bulging muscles, striations and vascularity, this woman has it all. I wouldn’t mind if she took off those shorts, but somehow the fact that I can still see the outline of her muscles beneath makes this shot even sexier.

Treasures from the Archive: Magazine Years Part I

As a teenage female muscle fan in the late 1980s and early 1990s, I found women to lust over among the pages of mainstream bodybuilding magazines like Flex, Muscle & Fitness, Musclemag, Ironman and Muscle Training Illustrated along with other publications I can’t remember the names of. These magazines were available pretty much everywhere, and after buying my first Muscle & Fitness (cover model Anja Langer) at about 15, I would get at least one of them every month, depending on which had the best female muscle content.

Jackie Paisley from an issue of Muscle & Fitness purchased in the early days. I remember this being part of a pictorial that focused on Jackie’s flexibility, and I could not stop looking at it. In places I never dreamed a woman could have muscles, Jackie had them. What are those things on the insides of her thighs? Hot.

Before some seriously bad cosmetic surgery choices ruined her looks, Melissa Coates, seen here in one of her first pictorials from Musclemag, if not her first, had real star quality. In the mainstream mags, topless and covered was about as racy as it got. Which was plenty racy for a horny teenage female muscle fan.

At one time I had quite a collection of these magazines, all stashed away safely under my bed. But when the time came to leave home and go to uni, the sheer size and weight made it impractical to take them with me. And I didn’t want to leave them at home and risk discovery. So I ditched them. All of them. It was the first of a few purges I have done over the years.

I’m an abs man. Pictures like these probably have something to do with that. Carla Sedecca’s bullet-proof abs, Sandy Riddell in the kind of swimsuit that we see all too rarely these days (you may remember, older readers, she was a fire fighter – imagine her carrying you out of a burning building), and finally the gorgeous muscular symmetry of Juliette Bergman.

Again, the swimsuit with the abs showing. This time it’s Diana Dennis from a workout feature, possibly Flex, possibly Muscle & Fitness. Not the most well-known of Diana’s pics, but ones I remembered as soon as I saw them again on the net many years later. I loved (and still love) the way her tanned skin gleams and the contrast between her thigh muscles in the two pictures. Before there was VHS, DVD or mpeg, there were guys like me moving my eyes real fast between pictures like these!

And this is the magazine that made me come to my senses and start a new collection of female muscle, the exact one. I was in town, saw it, then walked out of the shop. But ‘the madness’ had already descended. Within minutes, I was back in the shop and nervously taking it to the counter, paying and getting back home as fast as I could for my fix. Rachel McLish in a golden swimsuit was no disappointment, and neither was discovering a magazine that only contained female bodybuilders.

Cathy Palyo was one of the downright hottest female bodybuilders of that time, dark and sexy, and I adored this pic first time around and can still remember the rush of seeing her in that bikini for the first time. I came across Denise Rutkowski’s WPW and Ray Martin stuff much later, so workout photos were my introduction to this legend. The size of her arms in this pic makes me weak at the knees to this day. Made for kissing. And then there was Paula Bircumshaw’s perfect British bottom. You don’t see a lot of muscle babes working out in thongs these days. Bring that back!

My eternal gratitude to people who scan these old magazines and share them. Seeing these pictures again has been one of the earliest joys of the internet for me. You are heroes!

I’ll end Part I of The Magazine Years with Monica Haslam. Once I’d discovered Female Bodybuilding existed, it wasn’t long before I found the peerless Women’s Physique World and was savouring the quality pictures of prime female muscle like this one. Through the magazine I came to know many women who never featured in the mainstream muscle media, WPW took the women very seriously, and portrayed them as women, even when at their most ripped. And I started to realise that I was not the only man in the world who found female muscle sexy. It was a comforting thought!

Hot and Hard: The Fat of the Land

Since the Daily Mail’s front page screamed out last week that ‘British women are the fattest in Europe’ (‘with a QUARTER [their capitals] so obese their health is at risk’) I have been bombarded by film of women wobbling along the high streets of the UK every time I turn on a news channel. The fat of the land has been everywhere.

This is not something I find pleasant, and I don’t think I’m alone, so for myself, and any other Brits who have been similarly suffering, I offer an antidote. A selection of very un-obese women. Toned, sexy and hot enough to put your health at risk, accompanied by my own musings. Perhaps a bit of inspiration for the larger ladies of Britain (if, for some bizarre reason they read this!)? Or perhaps just motivation for us chaps to make sure that once your lady gets to the gym (January is coming after all, resolution time) she stays there?

Being the hottest thing in the gym, I wear as little as possible, and spend a lot of time looking in the mirror. When the guys think I’m checking myself out, I’m really just watching them watching me. The lust on their faces is so cool. I love being desirable.

The guy who does reception on Tuesdays and Thursdays isn’t bad looking at all. I always flash him a nice smile on my way out. And yesterday I gave him a cheeky bicep flex too. His eyes suddenly widened and his jaw dropped. He looked like a cartoon. I guess he’s one of those guys who like a bit of muscle on their woman. If I’m right, he’ll be like putty in my hands soon. Don’t get me wrong, I’d never cheat on [insert your name here] but I do love the power my body gives me over men.

If your girlfriend isn’t negative about muscular women, she must be a very strong, very secure woman, and you are a lucky guy. If she is negative though, have you ever wondered why? Does she even diss wannabes like Cameron Diaz? It’s pure insecurity. She knows a superior woman when she sees one. She knows us muscle babes can take you away from her in about as much time as it takes to tighten the abs or flex a calf or a bicep and give you a little smile. She senses my power over you and she would not be able to stop me. Oh, she’ll let you watch women’s tennis because, face it. you ain’t ever going to meet Serena. It’s me she’s afraid of, the glamorous neighbourhood muscle girl. Her neighbourhood threat.

Whatever I wear, wherever I go, my muscles get me a lot of attention. Men looked at me before, but since I’ve developed my muscles they look, look away, look again and again and can’t stop looking. It took some getting used to at first. Now I love it, and when I have an audience, if I’m in the mood, I give them a little show. I can flex my calves just by crossing my legs or pop a bicep just by resting my arm. Put both hands through my hair and I can pop double. And when I’m in a bikini, my abs get a workout from all the tensing and flexing. It’s a wonderful feeling.

I was going to write something about fit women bringing peace to the world, promoting it by wearing anti-war symbols on their posing suits, but on second thoughts I’ll just let you enjoy Larissa Reis. In peace. Peace.

So, she won! Now maybe she’s thinking about how supportive you’ve been. Tonight could be one for the diary. And it’s ultimately because, as a surprise at New Year, you bought that gym membership for her, and kept encouraging her, supporting her, telling her how much you liked the way her body was changing, and how much happier and more confident she was, and how you loved the way other men looked at her when you were together. It all led up to this moment. Yes, tonight could be one for the diary indeed.

Your woman can have it all. Beauty, brains, muscles and kitchen skills. Don’t let her become a statistic in a Daily Mail story, or, worse still even than the Daily Mail, part of a bit of BBC stock footage filed as Fat Women. You owe it to her, to yourself, and above all, to your country.

Venus with Biceps: A Pictorial History of Muscular Women aims to tell the societal and cultural history of muscular women over almost two hundred years to 1980.

The author, David L. Chapman, has been amassing his archive of images for more than 20 years, and from the previews and reviews I've seen, it's quite a collection.

A fan, much like you and me, but to the power of ten, David's introduction is available to view on Amazon, and in it he confesses his admiration for strong, muscular women with much eloquence. This book has clearly been a labour of love for him.

THE definition of a female bodybuilder

Dictionary definitions tend to be on the dry side. And for good reason, as dictionaries need to communicate concisely, yet effectively, what a word or phrase means.

Take this definition of 'bodybuilder' from the OED online:
a person who strengthens and enlarges the muscles of their body through strenuous exercise

OK, it's concise, effective and correct. But it's dull. But that's OK (even though there's no entry for 'female bodybuilder') because you wouldn't read a dictionary, it's a reference book.

In contrast to traditional dictionaries though, other online ones that anybody can add definitions to throw up some entries that are worth reading just for the sheer pleasure of it. And occasionally, the definitions border on genius.

And this definition of 'female bodybuilder' from the Urban Dictionary is one of those, and provides a definition I think we can all get behind!

Easily the sexiest, most erotic kind of female in the universe. A female bodybuilder is a superior kind of woman.

She is in touch with her femininity, and she realizes that her inner being is power, not weakness. Because she is so in touch with her inner power, she develops her muscles to an astonishing degree, able to lift incredible masses of weights that most men are unable to touch. She does this in order to break from the cage that society puts women in, to show that she is a powerful individual who no one can restrain.

Many men are unable to admit their attraction to these powerful women, for societal stereotypes indicate that women are supposed to be thin, whiny, and submissive. Female bodybuilders threaten that stereotype to such a degree that most men are threatened by them. Similarly, men are threatened by the fact that these women are far more muscular and far stronger than them, for it makes them feel that they are not living up the their stereotyped gender role of being the 'dominant provider'.

Yet nearly all men, at a deep unconscious level, are very attracted to these powerful women, and only the real men are able to admit it to themselves.

Female bodybuilders are more often than not extremely kind, energetic, and resourceful. They spend their time wisely, fit more into a day than most people, and truly grab life by the horns.

They are a threat to many, yet they are sexy beyond belief and are known to be better than any other kind of woman in bed.

Now, I would like to add that it wasn't me who wrote this, but I wish I had. I would love to find out who did write it and shake them by the hand, even if only in a virtual way.

I reckon a little higher and that'll be just about head height for me.

Treasures From The Archive: Part II: Stimulating The Imagination

A second installment of my favourite pics of my favourite ladies from my old laptop (see Part I).

Mindi O'Brien

Mindi has, sadly, recently announced her retirement from competition, so why not remember her as she was at her peak, without an ounce of fat on her? And what a face! So stunningly beautiful she must have left a trail of dropped jaws behind her whenever she left the house - and probably still does. The contrast between her more conventional beauty from the neck up, and her somewhat more unconventional beauty from the neck down must have left a lot of guys shaking their heads. And probably repeating (in a robot voice) That face, those arms, does not compute, does not compute... And was I the only one who imagined using pictures of Mindi as undeniable proof that a woman who is muscular does not look like a man? Haven't you thought about showing a friend a picture of her face, getting a positive response then (a-ha!) surprising the shit out of them with a full body picture? No? Really?
Just me then.

Hunkess

A 'hunk' is defined as a sexually attractive man with a well-developed physique. So, 'hunkess' I think you can work out for yourself. I can't remember when I first read the word 'hunkess', or maybe I actually thought it before I saw it being used (it's just such an obvious way to describe a female bodybuilder that everyone thinks of it sooner or later), but I am certain that Kim Perez is one. A great big one. And never more so than in this set from 2005. When I can take my eyes off her thick, defined abs, they just get stuck again on the great slabs of muscle on her chest (and those juicy-looking nipples trying to escape their fabric prison). Then if I can get my eyes to move again, I don't know whether to look at the left side of her upper body, or the right. At her traps, her shoulders, or her arms. It's all a bit too much. Actually, on second thoughts, no it isn't. It's perfect.

Minimal Clothing

Pictures of hot muscular woman wearing just enough to prevent arrest seem to always make me 'respond'. They leave just enough to the imagination, and consequently can be more stimulating than fully naked shots. And at one time Rutthie Lucchesi always seemed to be bidding for the title of Queen of Next To Nothing On. She was over 40 when this picture was taken, an age when most women are preoccupied with hiding their flaws. So for me, this picture epitomises the confidence that gives muscular women such magical sex appeal.

Muscle Marine

I imagine life with Lisa Bickels would be one long round of workouts, muscle control demonstrations (private ones, just for me), then, perhaps after lunch she would fly off to foreign lands to free hostages or save lots of refugees (and kick the crap out of the bad guys), then back home for tea and massage followed by some seriously energetic sex. Again, is it just me?!

Tazzie And The Bull

Tazzie Colomb used to let her hair grow and, despite the huge amount of muscle she has always packed, look really feminine. And she has always had a gift for getting across to the viewer that she loves being a very very very muscular and very very very strong woman, looking the camera in the eye and daring you to feast your eyes on her. This picture was, I believe, part of an aborted advertising campaign for the FBBBWF (Female Bodybuilder Bull Wrestling Federation). A great idea, it was found to be too one-sided to make a really interesting spectator sport.

Emery's Flower

I first saw this picture in Muscle Elegance Magazine. Although there were countless other more revealing pictures in the issue, I spent more time on this page than all the others put together. Emery Miller exudes sensuality in her 'Baby Girl' top, her eyes giving you a come-hither look over the top of her shades. I'd say she was being suggestive with her tongue, but that implies subtlety, and quite frankly, she's being downright dirty. Yeah! And then there's the flower head. I can honestly say this was the first and only time in my life I had been jealous of flora.

A Surprise

No, I don't mean it's a surprise that Denise Masino's legendary pussy is covered. This picture surprised me in another way altogether. I've never been 100% sure whether it's a trick of the light on the fabric of her posing suit, or indeed whether it's a cheeky bit of photo manipulation, but I like to think it neither of these things. In fact, I like to think that this picture confirms one of my earliest fantasies about muscular women. Namely that they turn themselves on so much when posing on stage that by the time they come off, they are literally dripping. And to have a fantasy come true is, I think you will agree, a surprise.

Sarah And Me

Who among us hasn't imagined what it would be like to spend a day with a female bodybuilder? Is it just me again? Well, I'm going to plough on anyway... To spend a day with a female bodybuilder, walking out in public with her, soaking up both the reactions she gets and the jealous looks from muscle-lovin' guys that you get. A walk along the sea front together, you make her laugh as you admire her arms and shoulders. A little lunch, a little shopping, maybe a movie or a museum. Then back to your hotel where she models some of the outfits you bought her. You get the idea. And for a while back in the days of this archive, I couldn't imagine having a day like that with anyone better than Sarah Dunlap.

Denise Hoshor

This photo should, in my opinion, be the first photo inducted into the (at the time of writing, mythical) Female Muscle Hall of Fame. Today I'm looking at it and it feels as if I've never noticed the veins in her forearms before. Every time I look at the photo, it seems to stimulate my imagination in a different way. It's like I'm seeing her for the first time every time. And what a sight she is! Denise's WPW sets are the most popular of all time, so she has a reasonable claim to be the fan's favourite bodybuilder ever, fulfilling a kind of collective notion of perfection. There are pictures out there of Denise as she is now. My advice would be not to look for them if you haven't seen them. Trust me if I say it's better to remember her like this, and to use your imagination about how she might look now.

More Column Inches

Yet more mainstream column inches for female muscle in the UK national media.
And once again we have Jodie Marsh to thank for the story.

This time it's not all Jodie though, but a 38 year-old Angela McNamara, who, unlike Jodie (to date), is a champion. It figures that the story would be, not exactly anti-Jodie, but more a don't-get-too-carried-away-with-Jodie story, because the paper which has been running the Jodie stories is The Sun, and this story appears in The Daily Mirror, which has always been the ying to The Sun's yang.

And it's worth reading the comments at the bottom too. Along with the usual abuse, there are some spirited defenders of female muscle among Mirror readers it seems. Inspiring stuff. Is the tide really changing? I suspect not, it'll all probably go back to normal now that Jodie's finished her publicity drive.

But I for one am going to enjoy this while it lasts!

Gym Bodz

I think this may be a morph, but...

... is there any better motivation for a guy to get up off his fat arse and get to the gym than this? Unfortunately, the gym at my local leisure centre isn't full of beautiful muscular babes. I should know, I go there enough! But I would certainly go there more if it was. So, to do my bit to improve the health of the male population, well, the male population who read my babble anyway, another selection of divine muscle beauty in the gym. Possibly your local gym...

As soon as you walk in, your female muscle radar on max, you see her. The instantaneous adrenaline rush comes and suddenly your heart is pounding. Your senses heighten, but all you can see, and the only thing on your mind, is her. It's a familiar feeling in the proximity of a muscular woman. The madness.

Gradually, you get yourself under some sort of control and get on with your workout. But you are keeping an eye on her, you can't help it. When she's doing pushdowns you walk past her, your eyes fixed on her triceps, bringing back the adrenaline rush again, and this time it's so full-on you're shaking a little when you get to your next machine.

She's still doing pulldowns as you walk back. You feel a little calmer after your set, a little stronger, a little more pumped, a little more confident. You'll go back the same way you came, and get a gander from the front this time. And you're not disappointed, but you're transfixed, you're staring. Did she notice? Shit. Was that uncool?

You keep your eyes to yourself for a while. But you can't help but peek when she picks up some dumbells in your vicinity. Your heart almost comes out of your mouth as you look up to see she's looking at you. Then she swings round to the mirror and starts to curl those bad boys, and you're sure she wasn't grunting or breathing so heavily before. Is this for your benefit?

Finished with the dumbells, she stretches and admires herself. Dry-mouthed, you somehow tear your eyes away. Your next exercise means you have your back to her, but you're trying to be cool and everything so you don't change your routine. And your reward for being so good is that she comes and uses the bench diagonally opposite you. You thank the Lord of Female Muscle Karma and check her out again. Her eyes come up and meet yours. For some reason you can't look away. She grimaces with the effort of the final few reps. You're still watching her. She'll probably come over and say something if you don't stop staring. And you've probably got a really dumb look on your face. Stop it! What's wrong with you?

She does come over when she's finished her set. Just to introduce herself though, much to your relief. She's a Personal Trainer, so it's not exactly a come-on, she wants to give you her card, but it'll do for now. And you surprise yourself by how charming you are (or think you are), but it's charming enough to get her to give you a free sample. Just one or two exercises you say. Give me a few pointers and I might just be persuaded to give you a call. And to yourself you wonder, When did my cajones get so big?

Now you're in heaven. She demonstrates, you follow. Two exercises turn to three. She seems to be having fun. Is it part of the sales pitch? If it is, it's working. But maybe she does like you. There's only one way to find out.

That would be cool, she says. I'd love to get a coffee with you when we finish up.
A gorgeous, muscular woman has just said yes to having coffee with you.

And all because you got off your fat arse and went to the gym.

Jodie Marsh Takes It Mainstream

There has never been so much female muscle in the UK mainstream press and media. And ONE woman is responsible for it. And, although it should be, it's not Lisa Cross. It's Jodie Marsh.

For those readers outside the UK, Jodie Marsh was once famous for nothing more than having huge boobs. She certainly put in the hours, turning up any day of the week at any nightclub or film premiere where she could flash her tits and guarantee herself a picture in the next day's paper.

Her career 'moved on' to reality TV. The 'highlights' were Celebrity Big Brother and Totally Jodie Marsh, the concept of which was to find Jodie a husband. No, really. And she actually got married to the winner. Surprisingly, it didn't last.

Then, just over a year ago, these images appeared in the mainstream media.
Jodie Marsh had started bodybuilding!

At the time, I was, I admit, sceptical. She looks so much better, I thought, but it's got to be just another publicity stunt - the reality TV work was drying up at that stage, and with the breakdown of her 'marriage', Jodie seemed to be heading for the E list.
How wrong I was!

Last January, I stumbled across a show on The Active Channel on UK TV, and there she was, looking even better than in the photos, being trained by Tim Sharp.

Then, since the beginning of this month BOOM! Jodie Marsh and her muscles are everywhere. Print media, online 'news' websites, even breakfast TV. She had competed in a pro-am show in September, finishing fifth.

Turns out that Jodie hasn't completely given up her reality TV dreams. Her journey to muscle has been followed by a TV crew, and the show will be on DMAX in the UK in January next year.

Now, as I said at the start, this level of coverage for a female bodybuilder is completely unprecedented. And what's more, it's pretty much all positive. And so Jodie has suddenly become a kind of unofficial spokeswoman for the benefits of female muscle.

When I look back at some of the photos of me in my 'heyday' they make me feel physically sick. I look flabby, fat and full of cellulite. I used to loathe my body but now I absolutely adore it. This is the best I’ve ever felt, and the best my body has ever felt too.

Before taking up bodybuilding I was feeling depressed and suicidal. Now I have a new life ahead of me. I have a great new body and I feel at peace with myself.

Anyone who feels fat and flabby like I used to can change that. What I'm saying is try exercise, get yourself off the sofa. You don't know how much your life could change for the better.

I feel proud when I look in the mirror. I still can't believe it's my body. Like, when I look at my abs, I'm just like, f**king hell, I love it so much!

I'm the prettiest I've ever looked. It has totally changed my life, doing this. My self-esteem is higher, my confidence is higher, I feel more secure, feel powerful – I almost feel invincible. I do feel a bit like Superwoman!

Moreover, it seems that us fellas who like a bit (or even a lot) of muscle on our women are not such freaks after all.

I've never attracted so many blokes in my life. It's been a real eye-opener. Since I became a bodybuilder I've suddenly got about 50 guys interested in me.

It's not hard for me (and you) to understand why this should be. The surprise is that this coverage and these quotes are from national newspapers and national TV networks. Jodie Marsh has single-handedly raised the profile of female bodybuilding to new heights, spoken out about the benefits of muscle building for women, particularly those with low self-esteem, AND made female muscle fans feel like they no longer need to be shy about expressing their preferences. It's quite an achievement.

If you're from the USA, imagine a fading reality TV babe who you never thought was much of a babe. It should be someone who has an annoying accent, and who seemed to be entering the fifteenth minute of their alloted fame time. Now, imagine that she disappears for a year or two, and the next time you see her she is in national newspapers and on NBC or ABC or CBS receiving gushing compliments from interviewers and presenters. Then, in the same mainstream media, results of surveys start to appear in which men who find her and other women with muscle attractive are the majority.

This is what has happened and what is happening here.

And all because of Jodie Marsh...

Jodie's physique may or may not inspire one, ten, a hundred, a thousand, or ten thousand women to go to the gym because they want to feel a bit like Superwoman. She may or may not change the public's perception of muscular women (and the men who adore them). She may or may not continue bodybuilding. But she has given the sport more mainstream coverage than ever. When Andrulla Blanchette won Miss Olympia there was absolutely no recognition in the mainstream media. Jodie Marsh finished fifth in a small UK pro-am competition, and today, the best-selling national newspaper (a tabloid, so take the word 'news' with a pinch of salt) has run a story that tomorrow it will have an exclusive video of Jodie Marsh naked on its website.

So, a national newspaper believes it can attract readers with a naked female bodybuilder. Let me say that again. A national newspaper believes it can attract readers with a naked female bodybuilder.

That, dear readers, is a first. And long may it continue.

Treasures From The Archive: Part I

Recently, I've invested some of my hard-earned in a brand new desktop with the kind of serious memory capacity that a female muscle fan (obsessive?) needs in this day and age. Consequently, I've undertaken the job of sifting through old hard drives to put my collection in some kind of order, and to transfer the best of the older stuff onto the shiny new beast.

This task has been incredibly time-consuming but also incredibly worthwhile. Not only do I now have the bulk of my collection in one easy-to-access place, but I've also been discovering long-forgotten gems.

Seeing these old pics and clips again after so many years is almost like seeing them anew. And I wanted to share some of my absolute favourites here, and I hope you enjoy them too.

Jennifer Broomfield

The original muscle girl next door. I loved Jennifer's most muscular pose, so much muscle and definition on such a pretty, young thing. Sadly, she completely disappeared from the world of female muscle fandom, so seeing her again on the old hard drive was a real 'treat'. This picture shows her groin-tingling body off from head to toe. Woof.

Turkish Muscle

Through the Turkish Sports page I discovered a world of Turkish female muscle. Sadly, it hasn't been updated in over a year, but the content still works so check it out if you've never seen it. You're getting both Meryl Ertunc and Nursel Gurler because I couldn't decide who my favorite was! Why should I have to choose anyway? If you had the choice between Meryl or Nursel and Meryl and Nursel... You see what I mean?

MMMalissa Robles

Yummy Malissa never looked finer than in this photoset, and this pic sets my imagination running wild. The dress covers and reveals her body at the same time. Her fingers curl around the hem, suggesting even more of her glowing skin is about to be revealed. The veins in her arms are starting to swell. She locks your eyes in her smouldering gaze...

Michelle Ralabate

Reportedly between 2'6" and 4'11" depending on your source, Michelle was living proof that good things come in small packages. Here she flexes every muscle in this WPW classic. And that hair! They don't do it like that anymore, for sure. Those things might be enough to enjoy the picture anyway. But the fact there are sunbathers in the background takes it to the next level for me. They seem to be trying to look disinterested, but there's so much oiled-up primo female muscle meat right before their eyes that I think they're nursing the biggest hard-ons they've ever had.

Christi Wolf

Talking of which... I remember one of Christi's videos from way back (Impulse Productions I think) having the tag line The Wolf 'll Have Ya Howlin', which describes her effect on me to a tee. Whether checking out her Muscle Elegance stuff or her wrestling incarnation, Asia, off-season or contest ready, Christi always seemed to be able to make me 'howl'. Here she is at her most ripped. A goddess.

Marika-ka-ka

Anyone else remember Marika being featured in the TV show Eurotrash? It was promoting a video of hers where she armwrestles, lifts and finally pounds the shit out of a guy on the mat. Although it was a reasonably sympathetic portrait of Marika, I was flat-sharing at the time and had to endure my co-habitants wisecracks about her 'looking like a man' etc. throughout, much to my discomfort. And they were even more scathing about the schmoe! In this pic the (aptly) self-titled Viking Queen is on stage in her pomp. Now, I've never understood the urge some guys have to be smashed up like the schmoe was in Marika's video (though I'll defend his right to be smashed up). I just want to run my hands up and down Marika's hamstrings as they are here. That and a few other things besides...

One of the sexiest female bodybuilders ever. In a bath. Apparently naked. There's also champagne. And bubbles. And a double biceps pose. Any questions?

Christine Roth

Like Malissa Robles a few pictures back, the divine Ms. Roth is wearing a dress that both covers and reveals her body at the same time. And what a body it is. A timeless combination of feminine beauty and strong sexy muscle, posts of Christine's old photo sets and clips still elicit gushing responses from fans new and old on female muscle forums today. I've spent a lot of quality time with this picture over the years!

Michelle Baker

In this, my favourite picture of her, and I guess one of my favourite pictures ever, Michelle's magnificent pecs take centre stage in all their muscular glory. And on the rare occasions I've managed to tear my eyes away from those beautiful rock-hard slabs of femuscle, her smile and big brown eyes slay me again. A perfect woman, beautiful and strong, perfectly dressed and lit. A triumph for the photographer, capturing Michelle at her immortal best.

Trudy Ireland

Old enough to be my mother, and actually a grandmother even when this photo was taken, Trudy is one guilty pleasure I don't mind 'fessing up to. With a gravity-defying body like hers, age is irrelevant. She was, and remains, an exemplary advert for the benefits of female bodybuilding. Not to mention being one hell of a sexy beast.

Minority No Longer!

I am truly gobsmacked at this report from the WOW News website in the UK.

It seems that the number of female muscle brethren has grown, or at least it has since the last poll I saw! Female muscle lovers a majority? Now that is 'wow' news.

There I was all those years thinking I was the freak. Turns out those who claim 'they look like men' are the freaks and I'm, well, I'm one of the majority.

I need a bit of quiet time to adjust.

Dr Strangejudge: Or, How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love the 2011 Arnold Classic Europe

Elena Shportun's victory at last weekend's Arnold Classic Europe has stirred up a lot of heated discussion on female muscle forum boards.

The gist of most of it has been outrage at how Elena could be placed above women who were more muscular, and particularly why Katka Kyptova wasn't given first place because of her size and conditioning.

This is certainly not the first time (and it's unlikely to be the last) that female bodybuilding judges have made a decision that confuses, even angers, fans of the sport.

Now, say what you like about the judges, but they have been chosen to judge for a reason, they are (presumably!) qualified to judge a female bodybuilding contest. I, and I bet most of those on the forum boards who have complained about the result, are not. As a fan, my own judgements about a competitor are pretty subjective, and if I'm honest, are based largely on how much she turns me on!

If fans really care that much about female bodybuilders who are 'robbed' of titles by judging decisions, they should start a poll that you have to pay a small amount of money to vote on. It would be a kind of 'internet audience' or 'fan' award, and the pot could be given to the winner of the poll when the voting was over.

But until that happens, what you can do is to remember that the pictures and clips from the contest will still be out there five, ten, fifteen years from now, and they will still show these magnificent women in all their muscular glory as they were on the weekend of 8th October 2011.

So, I have learned to stop worrying and love the 2011 Arnold Classic Europe. Of the top five, four of them - Elena, Katka, Britain's golden goddess Lisa Cross, and Simonha Oliveira from Brazil - are among my favourite female bodybuilders currently competing. The pics of the comparisons involving these four are truly mouth-watering displays of prime female muscle meat.

Simonha finished fifth, which, as I've already explained, is pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. As I find with most Brazilian women (muscular or not) the rearview is quite, let's say, overwhelming, and when she sashays around the stage in that unique Latin American way, she exudes confidence, playfulness and sex appeal.

Britain's finest, Lisa Cross, was as ripped and vascular as I've ever seen her. Any schmoes out there having a session with Lisa this week must have been in heaven! For me, Lisa's unhurried presence on stage and her pouts and knowing smiles give me the impression that she loves being the centre of the audience's attention, she's well aware what an awesome sight she is. And that is very very sexy.

In third place, Nina Lobert, yet another in a (hopefully) endless line of massive muscle maidens from Germany. Now unlike the rest of the top 5, Nina doesn't quite do it for me. However, her side chest pose is quite a sight. Imagine getting your hands on that!

And so to the top two...

Don't you just love the way they always hold hands while waiting for the announcement of the winner? It's so sweet and, if you have an overactive imagination like yours truly, at the same time it sets off some extremely suggestive thoughts!

Now, as I've already said, I'm not going to get into a discussion about the rights and wrongs of the judges' decision. I just want to homour these two amazing women.

I've already eulogised about Elena's abs in a previous post , but that's not going to stop me doing so again! Her abdominals and thigh pose is, in my opinion, one of the greatest sights in modern female bodybuilding.

Her spermatic abs aside, when Elena hits this pose it really shows her body at its best. It seems to make her arms look bigger than they do in a double biceps pose, her shoulders suddenly seem broader, her waist more tapered, her thighs more flared. I think she is able to achieve this effect because her physique is so symmetrically balanced. In this pose, the whole effect comes together to enhance her individual parts perfectly.

And then there was Katka, dark-haired, sultry and sizzling with muscular sexuality. I have heard a rumour that her posing suit had to be made out of a special material from NASA that is used to coat the heat-shields on spacecraft for re-entry into the atmosphere. Without this material, members of the audience in the front rows might have suffered first and even second degree burns from the heat she was emanating. Despite this precaution, the judges found their pens melting when Katka was on stage. Maybe that's why she finished second!

If this was, as she has said, her last crack at bodybuilding, these images should be treasured. Her routine was particularly sexy. I love it when FBBs get down onto the floor of the stage and show themselves off. It seems so right! Check out Katka's calves in the first picture, her hamstrings in the second and her glutes in the third. Phwoar!

Before the contest, her blog whetted the appetite with progress pics and training clips from her preparation. She looked so damn good that I thought she couldn't lose, and maybe it was this feeling that she was a cert for first place that has caused such consternation.

And it wasn't only the fans who got a shock when the result was announced...

In sport, as in life, what you expect isn't always what happens. And therein lies its drama and beauty.

The result will gradually become less important as time passes, but the line-up will live forever in the images and clips of this contest of wonderful wonderful female specimens showing off their bodies in peak condition. And that's some consolation.

And yes, I have been reading a lot of books about Buddhism lately!

My all time favourite German Muscle Maiden (für die Erinnerungen)

She was on the cover of the first bodybuilding magazine I ever bought. This particular (UK) issue of Muscle and Fitness was possibly the first one I'd seen that had only a woman on the cover. And what a woman! I'd flicked through magazines in shops before, furtively ogling the female bodybuilders as the adrenalin rush that I have become so familiar with coursed through my body (and pretending to look at the training articles when someone came near enough to see what I was reading!), but I'd never gone through with actually purchasing one.

The sight of Anja's incredible body, ripped and oiled in a black bikini was just too much. 'The Madness' overtook me. I couldn't leave the shop without the magazine, or more accurately, without the woman on the cover.

Dry-mouthed and paranoid that someone I knew would walk in and see what I was doing, but compelled nonetheless, I whipped the magazine off the shelf and went up to the counter and paid. For some reason, the shopkeeper put it in a brown paper bag, usually used to hide porn! Were my intentions that obvious? I quickly popped it into my bag and left the shop in a hurry.

I bounced along the road, ecstatic. I was taking a female bodybuilder home!

That was the first, but certainly not the last time I walked home from that shop with a brown paper bag that contained a magazine with a pictoral of Anja Langer.

In the days before millions of images of female muscle were just clicks away, each picture of these amazing, completely unconventional-looking women was an event in itself for me. The fact that, compared with today, so many fewer images were available gave each one a higher value. I remember I could look at one picture for so long, committing every inch of it to memory, that even today, many years later, I can recall Anja's photos from that first magazine I bought.

The way her shoulders curved up and out, the way her abdominals seem to be pulling her tiny waist in, her hard muscular chest, the way her thigh and calf muscles flared out - all these details and more became locked away in my brain. When I got online and found pictures of Anja my reaction was that she was exactly how I remembered her - beautiful, gracefully feline, and covered in sexy solid muscles.

For my top German muscle maiden, I really couldn't choose anyone else.

As far as I can tell from my research, in Norse mythology Skadi is a goddess, 'the goddess of winter and of the hunt'. Talk about foresight! It's almost as if her parents knew what her destiny would be. She has certainly grown up to be a goddess, a big, blond, beautiful muscle goddess who also happens to be an ex-basketball player, a graduate in Sports Science, and a former manager of the Swiss national cycling team! And she is a mother. And a PE teacher. Can you imagine being a teenage boy in Skadi's class? I bet a few female muscle fans come out of that school in the future.

I've been enamoured with Skadi since I saw the pic below. Can you blame me? Those eyes, that smile, and that sexy muscular body. Her shoulders and pecs beg to be worshipped, and the way her left thigh curves out makes my mouth water. Such a strong, amazon woman, her muscles are full, pumped, ripe for adoration.

Her 15th (out of 17) place at the recent Miss Olympia was, for me, a bit of a disappointment. On reflection though, I think it was more an indication that she reached her peak this year for the FIBO Pro event (and so qualified for the Olympia with her 2nd place there). I reckon, therefore, that her best is yet to come.

She's a stunner from every angle, in any shape from contest to off-season, in any kind of outfit or setting. I've yet to see a bad picture of her, or a stage routine of hers that wasn't graceful, artistic and kittenishly sexy.

Like the country of her birth's economy, Skadi looks strong enough to hold up the whole of Europe. Well, perhaps that's an exaggeration, the Germans have their own debt to repay too now! Boom boom!

Perhaps propping up Europe is a job for her alter-ego...

3: Christa Bauch

I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that Christa Bauch is a legend among fans of female bodybuilding. At her peak in the 1990s, her physique seemed to be permanently rock hard, and the fact that the pictures and videos of her from that time still elicit adoration from younger members of the female muscle loving fraternity is a testament to how special she was back then. Even more so if you consider the fact that at that time she was in her forties and had had three children!

It was only when I discovered the peerless Women's Physique World that I discovered Christa, and I remember thinking that she looked like she had been hewn from living rock. Every part of her body (that I could see anyway) appeared to be pure muscle, and I wouldn't have bet against the parts I couldn't see being pure muscle either. I'd seen other female bodybuilders looking ripped in contest photos but Christa was just on another level altogether.

Fast forward to the internet era, and as soon as I was hooked up, clips of Christa were among the first things I started looking for. Consequently, Christa was the first female bodybuilder I ever saw punching her own abs or making her sexy pecs dance. The clips may have been tiny compared to the HD-fests that spoil us now, but they still have the power to 'move' me.

And she had her own website, which had a page where you could dress Christa up and where I spent many a long evening putting her into the various outfits there and dreaming that I was putting a mini-skirt or heels on her for real (and before you tell me I'm weird for that, go to the page and try it before you judge me!)

But Christa doesn't only make the list for those periods in my female muscle worshipping life. As I mentioned before, she was in her forties when at her peak, and that was in the 1990s. Now the pictures below come from around 2005 or 2006. She was nearly sixty when they were taken. What an advert for the sport of female bodybuilding she is!

How many sixty-year-olds could turn your head like Christa would if you were walking along the beach and spied that body on a sun lounger?

Perhaps the dog is thinking that Christa's granite bicep might be more fun to chew on than his plastic toy. Yes, I know I wanted to be Merle Mohr's dog yesterday, but I've changed my mind. Now I wanna be Christa's dog!

I'll leave the last word to Christa herself. Her philosophy, explained in a WPW interview: A trained, athletic body looks very aesthetic. It expresses strength and beauty, strong willpower and self-confidence. For me this is what being a woman is about. The bimbobarbie doll type is too undemanding. Most men need to learn how to get along with STRONG women — both physically and psychologically. Amen!

4: Merle Mohr

She may not be the biggest, the most successful or the most high-profile of Germany's muscle maidens, but Merle Mohr makes number 4 in my list nonetheless. It is my list, after all, and I think Merle is a total sex bomb!

Her beautiful muscle-packed body aside, I'm a sucker for her frizzy dark hair, stunning blue eyes and her sexy pec tattoo and lip piercing.

I wanna be her dog!

And depite the fact that Merle's body is still in development, she certainly looks like she wants to be really really massive if her training pics and clips are anything to go by. Check out her pecs in these clips. Muscle, the whole muscle, and nothing but the muscle! Hot hot hot.

I, for one, will be following her future development extremely closely, although not quite as closely as I do in my dreams...

Hallo deutsche Leser! I've been receiving more hits from your country than any other non-English-speaking one and I wanted to say a big Danke fürs Lesen to you with an all-week countdown of my Top 5 ladies from Germany.

First...

5: Sabine Wick

Sabine is a sentimental choice for me, as she starred in the first female bodybuilding video I ever purchased: Women's Muscle Power 1. I spent hours on end ogling her divine body as she worked out, pumping up her delicious off-season muscles. As she posed, I would pause the tape and advance frame by frame, working myself into a right royal frenzy of excitement.

Back then I was a typically horny teenager (with an atypical taste in women) and there were moments on the tape where I might have worn it out where she worked her chest or flexed her incredible bicep peaks.

And her outfit was a big turn-on too. Every time she flexed her back I got an eye-full of her amazing glutes! In the days before the internet, what more could a boy want?

But unfortunately Sabine never seemed to feature much in the magazines I got, so she pretty much fell off my radar. I kept the tape for ages - much longer than I kept a VCR! So was it goodbye to Sabine?

To my delight, no! Many years later, I found her on youtube. At first, I wasn't convinced it was her as the contrast with her off-season shape from the video was so marked. Best of all, this routine includes her famous 'moon pose'. Her hamstrings and glutes are so freakishly defined it would have been rude for her not to do this pose! Who the hell is responsible for outlawing it? I think a female-muscle-fan posse needs to find out who and have themselves a lynching!

Why outlaw such a thing of beauty as this?

Muscle in London

I'd downgraded my femuscle radar alert status to 'forlorn' as the miserable excuse for a summer this year in London had turned to a chilly September. But even on low alert the radar didn't fail me as I came out of Shepherd's Bush tube yesterday afternoon to the sight of a pair of magnificent muscular calves.

As always, 'the madness' descended and I sneakily shot some video of her. At first, she was on the phone with a coffee in one hand and a cigarette in the other so she would keep stopping to put the coffee down.

But despite this, once again, my sneaky video skills have been found wanting - I just don't seem to be able to keep the damn thing steady! Partly, I guess, that's lack of practice at this kind of thing, and partly I suppose it's because, at moments like these, I am pretty far from calm and composed!

Anyway, her calves. This woman was definitely not shy about her muscles, wearing a pair of denim shorts that showed off her legs beautifully. The screencaps don't really do her justice, her calves were 'the real thing' you could say. Big, defined, solid balls of muscle that danced with every move she made.

She didn't seem obviously muscular elsewhere but she wasn't tubby either, although I do concede that I wasn't paying very much attention to the rest of her body - it was all about her calves! I was quite overwhelmed in fact.

And she was wearing flat shoes! I spent most of yesterday afternoon and evening unable to concentrate on anything else except fantasising about what her magnificent calves would look like in a pair of heels!

Maybe this autumn my femuscle-spotting luck is going to be in! I certainly hope so.

New Tube Videos: Miss Olympia 2011

The evening routines of the top 3 women at the Miss Olympia have been added to the Tube Videos page.

Iris Kyle won for an amazing 8th time, equalling Lenda Murray's record. Yaxeni Oriquen was once again runner-up, and Brigita Brezovac came third in her first Miss Olympia contest.

Having watched the webcast, I thought the field was absolutely outstanding, and you can't really argue that these ladies deserved their top 3 finishes. Yaxeni, in particular, I thought was in incredible condition.

Congratulations to these wonderful athletes, and all the contestants for making it such a memorable year and proving that there is life in the sport of female bodybuilding yet!

Exhibitionism

Exhibitionism is inherent to the sport of bodybuilding, and that's why I love it. Sthenolagnia is defined as a condition where sexual arousal results from the display of strength or muscles. Display, that's the key word. But fortunately it's not only at competitions that muscular female physiques are put on display. Am I the only one who has noticed that the fitter a woman is, the less she will wear at the gym and the more time she will spend admiring herself in the mirror?

Furthermore, and here we get to the point of today's post, most women choose clothes that accentuate their 'good points' and hide their 'flaws'. It's different for fit, muscular women. Whatever part of her body is revealed by her outfit, it's sure to have been honed to perfection by years of diet and training (and perhaps the odd substance) so consequently female bodybuilders are able to look good in anything, no matter how tight, revealing or downright outrageous. And for me it's the confidence they exude when they wear the kind of outfits most women wouldn't (and shouldn't) be seen in that is sexiest of all.

And it's kind of got holes in it. I'll take it!

Andrea Thiel and Bettina Kadet

What shall we call these numbers? The half-dress? The quarter-dress? The barely-there-dress or the nearly-not-there-dress perhaps? To the designer, a last ditch attempt to make some money out of the cut-offs that were lying about. To Andrea and Bettina, a great chance to show off their upper body, mid-section and lower body all at the same time without getting arrested for indecent exposure. To me, this is just about as good as it gets!

Since Jana's breasts got a little enhancement a few years ago, I get the impression she would walk around with them out if she could. See-through is the next best thing, for me, better in fact. It's always nice to have something left to the imagination, however small. And if the whole top is see-through as this one is, it's not just her baps and her bullet-like nipples that catch the eye. Wunderbar!

Dr Dena Westerfield

Dena is an outrageous exhibitionist, and a serial wearer of revealing evening wear as these pictures show. And who can blame her?

And there's not much more outrageous than this! Can you imagine a non-muscular woman getting away with this? No, neither can I. But Dena...

Oksana Grishina

If you look at the first picture, you can basically see what the guys behind her are seeing in the second picture, so when you look at the latter you can understand why the guy in the leather jacket is looking where he's looking. I believe he was carried out of the exhibition centre minutes later, but happily survived. Oksana was warned not to confuse underwear and evening wear again.

Aleesha Young

So, you've made some serious gains, got yourself a mighty boob job and spent time with the stylist. What outfit would best present this new you? Well, Aleesha clearly thinks the 'Amazon Princess' look is the one to go for, and I for one applaud her choice. The side-on pic particularly has caused a lot of sticky mess in my house. Click with caution.

Chyna Smith

Ok, so now we really are getting to the extreme end of the spectrum. And she's wearing this in the street! Just imagine being on holiday in Buenos Aires and passing Chyna in this creation. I'd be applying for Argentine citizenship quick snap.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if she'd turned and asked in a tinny, computerised voice to be taken to our leader.

Carmen Brady

Definitely the winner of the most outrageous outfit prize. Was your bride a little nervous about her body before the wedding? Did she have to do a crash diet? Did she finally ask to come to the gym with you? Did she despair of ever fitting into that dress? Not Carmen. Carmen doesn't need a dress. In fact, if Carmen could have got married naked, I believe she would have. I can't believe I'm going to quote Elton John, but I am. I want to kiss the bride!

New Tube Videos

A while back a reader asked me how many different female muscle genres or sub-genres there were. I can't answer that question, but I will say the three videos I've picked for today certainly reflect different ways fans of female muscle might like to appreciate the women they adore.

First up is an example of what you might call the 'FBBs In Public' genre: Aleesha Young and Karen Garrett go to a shop. For me, part of the appeal of this particular genre is the reactions of the public, and the way the female bodybuilder deals with those reactions. This clip is an excellent example, with the stars of the show really being the two guys Aleesha and Karen meet in the shop!

Next is perhaps one of the oldest genres: 'On Stage Posing'. This might be broken down into the sub-genres of 'Contest' and 'Guest Posing', and clip number two is in the latter category. The UK's current golden girl of bodybuilding, Lisa Cross, looking amazing, only 3 or 4 weeks out from a contest herself, poses at a regional UK contest.

The third clip, I would say, belongs to a genre that might be called 'Fetish Flexing'. A certain muscle or muscle group is showcased throughout the clip. Obviously you could break this genre down into sub-genres for the individual muscles or muscle groups. So, ultimately, this clip belongs to the sub-genre of 'Fetish Flexing: Abs'. The abs in question belong to Melissa Buhl, and I have not seen a sexier abs clip than this for a long time.

To Tell Or Not To Tell?

I've recently been noticing how many threads there are on various female muscle forums about whether it's better to hide or to tell people about your passion for muscular women, so I thought I would share my experience of this issue here.

Having kept my female muscle obsession secret for the best part of 20 years, I got the urge to start telling people about 3 or 4 years ago. The internet, specifically the female muscle forums, definitely helped to push me in that direction. Knowing that there are not just a few, but thousands of other people (well, mostly men!) out there who have arrived at the same forum for pretty much the same reasons, many of them sharing their stories, experiences, preferences and passion for female muscle was an incredibly empowering moment for me.

And I did start telling people. Strictly on a one-on-one basis, never unless it had come up in the conversation, and only to people I had known for a very long time. They also had to be people I would tell almost anything else to. And don't get me wrong, I've never gone into all the details, just expressed a preference, and, if asked, elaborated along the lines of I've found female muscle attractive since I was young and that pics and videos of muscle women are like my porn.

My brother was first. When I told him the truth he laughed. But not at me, at himself. He'd found my stash of magazines when we were young, so I'd always thought he kind of knew anyway. In fact, he'd assumed I was gay! Although finding copies of Women's Physique World and Female Bodybuilding among the other bodybuilding magazines had, he said, seemed strange.

He had no problem with it at all. He too has a fetish, for fat girls with huge tits. We decided we were both totally normal in our abnormalities!

Since then - and this is one of the things that is GREAT about sharing it with someone - we have been able to point out women to each other that we think the other will like. And he has sometimes given me a knowing wink when we're watching athletics or tennis for example, and there's some female muscle on display. I wouldn't say our relationship has been noticeably better because of it, but it certainly didn't make it worse.

Once I'd told him, I told another four people, all very close and long-standing friends. This has been over a period of about 2 years. Not one gave me a negative reaction, nor have our relationships been affected. One, for example, said it explained a lot about why I split up most relationships early unless the girl has some kind of athletic/dance/gymnastic background. It answered a question he'd always wanted to ask me. He also got curious enough to check out some muscle women on YouTube. He could see the attraction to fitness women, even the NABBA Physique-types, but he couldn't get why I liked Gina Davis! He sometimes sends me links to (what he considers) freakily muscular women with a slightly sarcastic comment attached, but he sends lots of different links to me with sarcastic comments anyway!

And none of the people who know have ever 'outed' me to others. I did go through a period of paranoia when I thought one of my friends would announce my preference at a party or something. But it's never happened, and I don't believe it ever will.

I did, however, draw the line at those five. And apart from that, the only other people I've ever told have been women with muscle that I've been lucky enough to have been with. And even then I've always told them I like their muscles, I've never told them the extent of my fantasies. Maybe I should have, in the interests of the relationships. In fact, maybe I should just tell anyone who asks. But that's a step I'm not quite ready for yet!

I guess what I'm saying is, that in my experience, 'coming out' has been, for me, not only a lot less horrible than I'd always imagined, but it actually turned out to be a rewarding experience. As long as you're talking to open-minded people who you would trust with almost any other secret you have, there's no reason why it won't be the same for you.

Watching the World Championships from Daegu, South Korea the past few days has reminded me how athletics gives a female muscle slave like me the chance to see lots of super-fit, muscular women being celebrated rather than ridiculed. And when I settled down to watch the Women's 100m Final I was rather taken by the lady in lane 1, Ivet Lalova of Bulgaria.

Taken enough to do a GoogleImages search for her anyway! Although she's not as muscular as most of the female sprinters these days, she's streets (or should that be metres?) ahead in the beauty stakes.

She's 27 now according to my research, living and training in Italy while representing the country of her birth. She's also engaged to an Italian sprinter. Dammit!

Earlier in her career she finished 4th in the 2004 Olympics but a serious leg injury meant she was absent from competition from 2005 to 2007.

Now, in 2011, she's running the best times of her life,
and finished 7th yesterday in the 100m Final.

Muscle in London: Cheering Myself Up

Is there anything more depressing for a female muscle fan than hearing a woman with muscles say she wishes she wasn't so muscular?

I was sitting in Paternoster Square (London) this afternoon, having a quiet smoke, and she and a friend had come and sat nearby. My ears perked up when she asked her friend to check out her calves, immediately wanting to check them out myself.

Maybe I'm over-sensitive, but the next thing she said crushed me: I hate my calves. By this time I was in a position to see them, but instead of the usual female-muscle-spotting rush, I had a feeling of helplessness. But they're gorgeous! I wanted to scream. Of course I didn't.

But I did decide to continue checking her out. And so what if she caught me doing it? If she did, I'd tell her what I thought about her calves, and that I was sure I wasn't the only guy who'd find them attractive. Probably. But that didn't happen either.

What happened was she told her friend she was going to have (now brace yourself...) calf-reduction surgery.

A pair of delicious muscular calves are going to disappear from the world, so let's remind ourselves that not all women with beautiful, strong, shapely legs hate them and are willing to pay for the privilege of turning them into twigs. So...

Whether you and her are out tonight, or are staying in...

Whether her thighs are rounded or ripped...

Tell the woman in your life with muscular legs how much you appreciate them and make the world a better place. For admirers of female muscle, anyway!

Muscular women are often accused of 'looking like a man' but I don't see how this applies to these hotties. They are fit, athletic, muscular AND feminine. Gina is in her mid-forties in this recent picture. When competing, she was a great advert for the sport, and she still is. Sizzling in a dress most women her age would look ridiculous in. And the thing I love about Dena is her rabid exhibitionism, she seems to revel in her skin. In her videos she always looks as though she is enjoying, even getting turned on by, showing herself off, and I find that intoxicatingly attractive. And the outfit in the picture above seems to confirm my impression of her.

Andrulla Blanchette

The sex appeal of this woman jumps right out of the computer screen in this picture. The dress stretches against her muscles, her eyes bore into the viewer, and I can't take my eyes off this goddess. I have kept coming back to this picture again and again when looking for examples of muscular femininity. For me, it's a classic.

'Naughty' Nuriye Sener

A quite recent picture to finish, and what a shot it is. Nuriye's dress seems to be on the point of shredding as she flexes her mighty guns. Who hasn't fantasized about a muscular women removing her dress by expanding her chest and back so it rips and falls around her to reveal her magnificent physique nude. Or is it only me?

Further Adventures in Celebrity Muscle

The Eye Witness News report (see Street of Shame) wasn't just rude about Cameron Diaz's body.

The report also claimed that A few years ago, Madonna had people up in arms for being too "vein" so to speak. Well, it didn't do her career much harm, and in my opinion, Madonna, whatever else you might think about her, has blazed the trail in the mainstream for 'the buff look'. As a fan of female muscle, and someone who would like to see greater acceptance of it in the mainstream media, I certainly admire the Material Girl for that.

But I think the most insulting comment in the report concerned Serena Williams, who, according to the report, depicts the pop-culture paradox best. She's been described as either too muscular to be feminine or too fat for tennis. Bollocks! First of all, unlike Cameron Diaz, Madonna, and Kelly Ripa (criticised for being too 'ripped' - must have taken them all of 0.001 seconds to come up with that one) Serena Williams is an athlete. Secondly, despite her muscular frame, Serena is undoubtedly feminine, as the shots below illustrate.

Moreover, the idea that Serena Williams is 'too fat for tennis' is just plain ridiculous. She's had a long career and is one of the most successful female tennis players in history. And all that at a time when women's tennis has become increasingly competitive. Fat my arse!

Get down out of that chair and call me fat again!

Street of Shame

A homage to the British satirical magazine Private Eye's regular column exposing the hypocrisy of the British press...

In New York, Eye Witness News reported a story about Cameron Diaz 'being too buff'. And like the good old rag that it is, Britain's own Daily Mail also reported the story under the title Has A-Rod's Girl Taken Her Fitness Regime Too Far?.

The Daily Mail has previous on this subject though. Back in 2009, Jessi Wallace, a star of the British soap opera Eastenders, took up a fitness regime after getting fed up with looking like 'a butch Barbara Cartland' (Jessi's words, not mine). Jessi unveiled her new physique on the breakfast TV show GMTV, and couldn't resist a little flexing.

However, the Mail reported positively on Jessie's transformation:
Jessi has been hitting the gym three times a week and jogging regularly near her home in Essex. All that effort has obviously paid off, if her impressive muscles are anything to go by!

This picture was captioned: Jessie's co-star Brian Capron looks impressed with her powerful pose.

And this one: GMTV presenter Ben Shephard looked stunned by Jessie's new muscly arms.

Now, contrast that with how the Mail reported on Cameron Diaz's body:
A brawny Cameron Diaz emerges from the Miami sea in a yellow bikini. But after seeing these pictures, the 38-year-old actress may want to consider toning down her punishing daily workouts.

There was barely a curve to behold on the Hollywood star's body - instead it has been tirelessly honed and sculpted into a V-shaped washboard stomach and muscular thighs.

She has also developed bulging biceps and squat shoulders from hauling huge tyres and ropes around during her regular fitness sessions with boyfriend Alex Rodriguez.

The Mail's lack of consistency aside, has Cameron Diaz's body really changed so much since this pre-Alex Rodriguez photo?

Finally, a really hot day in London and the ladies were dressed accordingly. My female muscle radar on overdrive, I must have seen at least ten pairs of really nice muscular arms today. I love the summer!

Mindi O'Brien and Mary Simmons

Mindi's arms are a sight to behold even when she's not flexing them. I love those veins! Mary Simmons (like some other female bodybuilders I've seen being interviewed) seems to be having a cheeky flex while she carries on a conversation. At least, that's what I like to imagine when I see this picture!

Natalya Romashko

Just look at those big, pumped arms. I'd say they looked 'juicy' if it wasn't for the steroid-connotations of that word, so I'll say they look 'ripe'. Ripe to be worshipped. By me.

Bettina Kadet
I know she's married and changed her name but I always like to keep my female muscle pics according to maiden names as I'm secretly hoping it doesn't work out. Not really. But I'm never too upset when I hear a female bodybuilder has divorced. And don't tell me you don't know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, reading a story on Mann's excellent blog about his chance meeting with a muscular MILF, I include Bettina as my idea of a sexy older muscular woman. And I love these, let's say, 'public-setting' pics. Maybe because one of my fantasies is to one day be with a very muscular woman and to walk through a crowded public place with her, soaking up the reactions and looks she gets, beaming with pride that she's with me. Isn't She (Still) Lovely?

Andrea Trent is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful women ever to grace the sport of female bodybuilding. Back in 2002-2003 her photosets were always among my favourites. She always looked big but feminine, with sexy muscular curves all over.

So I was delighted to find that Andrea is back and competed at the NPC USA in the 'B' Physique class. Although I was a little confused to discover she'd finished 12th!

Not for me to question the judges though, I'm sure they honestly thought that's what her physique deserved. I'm just over the moon that she is back, competing, and that she hasn't spent the years out getting dodgy plastic surgery and ruining her natural beauty.

I do wish she'd get a slightly better camera though!

It's one of the wonders of life that two people's perception of the same thing can be totally different. In fact, certain things seem to cause almost polar reactions. Marmite, for example. You can love or hate it, but hardly anyone says they don't mind it.

Muscular women get similarly opposing reactions. I, for one, find them the most attractive women of all. I spend a significant amount of time eulogising them right here in this blog. But if you take even just a cursory glance at some internet polls on female muscle, you will find that there are a lot of people who are disgusted by them.

Now, I'm not saying these people are wrong, variety is the spice of life as they say. But take a look at the pictures below and the comments I've taken from the polls I've found. Are beauty and muscle really as mutually exclusive in women as some people think?

'They look like men. They look downright awful.'

OK, maybe some of the biggest steroid-abusing bodybuilders do sacrifice their femininity for muscle. But Szilvia Czine, Aleisha Hart, Jennifer Rish and Heidrun Sigurdardottir are clearly all woman.

And with her lovely, dark eyes and beautiful smile, would you really say that Yenny Polanco's bicep makes her look like a man?

This comment is similarly typical: 'Feminitiy [sic] and female bodybuilders have nothing in common whatsoever.'

So this person can't spell. Or run a spell check. But, hey, f-e-m-i-n-i-n-i-t-y is a tough word, and anyone can make a typo. Let's not be overly critical of their English. But looking at the Middle Eastern beauty of Mercedes Khani and the natural beauty of Erica Cordie, I for one disagree with their conclusion.

'It's not like any male on earth finds them attractive.
And they make even fat woman shudder in disgust.'

Having seen Reagan Brenner, the lady on the left is so disgusted she has to get some food down her quick. Imagine how much more she would have to eat if she saw the Asian beauty of Lyen Wong or Rebekah Kresila!

And then there is this old chesnut: 'I think dating women bodybuilders is one step away from being queer.'
Now, I have to admit, I did not know there were steps to being queer. Do they go up or down? And it does beg the question of being attracted to what kind of bodyshape on a woman is two steps away from being queer?

Well, if fancying Valeria Ammirato or Heather Dees makes me 'one step away from being queer', then I am very proud to be on that step. And what's more, I think that's going to be a very crowded step. Unless I'm the only one who finds Sheila Beavers attractive!

Now I don't usually go for bikini competitors, and I'm far too old to be coming on all schoolboy gushy, but I cannot sleep, I feel miserable, I have no appetite, I'm writing poems for Christ's sake!

I think I'm in love with Valeria Ammirato.

Valeria is a bikini competitor from Germany. I don't know how old she is, what her favourite music is, whether she's turned on by guys who can cook, or if she loves animals. But I do know she is hotter than a forest fire that has just reached its peak.

I've been looking at this picture closely and am finding it seriously appealing. But at first, I just couldn't believe it was real. I mean, how exactly is that position achieved? What amazing balance and strength she must have! And meanwhile looking very serene and stunningly beautiful. That combination is hot.
Consequently, I am researching local yoga classes. Even if I am extremely unlikely to find a babe like this around my neck of the woods, if I can learn to pull a move like this, I might pull more often!

I'm almost ashamed to say this, but when I see photos like these, it's impossible not to fantasise that I am the photographer. The woman in the photo wants to check out the view from the rear. Hard to do without a picture of it. And she's asked me to snap away.

'Ready when you are,' she says as she hits a back double biceps pose.

'I'll get a clearer picture if you pump up a bit first,' I suggest.

I really don't know what I'm going to say if she asks whether I like the tattoo...

... but I do know that when I've finished taking this shot, I'm going to offer to give her gorgeous back a deep, deep massage.

'When I'm done with your back would you like a few shots of your glutes too?'

Abs Withdrawal Symptoms?

Abs Week was a long time ago it seems, and some readers are complaining of withdrawal symptoms. I hope today's post stems those cravings with a hit of sexy six-packs, rock hard ridges of muscle begging to be adored.

Hours in the gym, strengthening her core, sculpting her abdomen, and it all pays off when she gets to display the results.

Back to the gym, the compliments and the admiring looks have made her even more motivated. Her muscles burn, but now the pain has become the pleasure.

The ridges of muscle become more and more pronounced over time. Her man can't keep his hands off them, which makes her feel even more powerful and sexy.

She just wanted to lose her belly when she started hitting the gym. Now she realises she has become a goddess, and she's not going to stop working those abs for anything.

Out and about in High Street Kensington today, my female muscle radar picked up these gorgeous, shapely, muscular legs. Trust me when I say she was smoking hot, and she clearly knew it.

She was walking ahead of me and I slowed so as not to go past her. She was quite short, no more than about 5'2" (1.57m), and her ankle boots set off her delicious calves perfectly. Her denim shorts drew attention to her sexy rear, and revealed the backs of her thighs, which were tight without being defined. I couldn't take my eyes off her.

And I wasn't alone. Heads turned as she walked along, male and female. She must have realised how much attention she was getting, but didn't seem at all self-conscious, sashaying her sexy frame among the gawpers, confident in her skin.

Sometimes, when a really sexy woman with some muscle is in my vicinity, what I call 'The Madness' overtakes me. I act solely on impulse, incapable of rational thought, transfixed, hypnotised. My heart races and a feeling of exhilaration courses through me. This was definitely one of those times!

My phone was in my hand, so I discretely tried to take a little video of her. Sad to report that the clip is rubbish, well shaky and all over too quickly, so these screenshots are unfortunately all there is. But at least they give you some idea of her curvy sex appeal.

And suddenly she stopped at a window. I was past her. I thought about going back, but I did have to be somewhere and having done the video I felt a bit creepy. So I continued on my way. I'll be keeping an eye out for her though. If I see her and she's alone like that I will compliment her on her legs and see what happens. I'll be keeping my female muscle radar on maximum when around High Street Ken now for sure.

Female Muscle Pride

When I first saw a female bodybuilder, one of the things that struck me was the fact that she seemed so proud of her body, and obviously loved the attention it got her. And muscular women have every right to feel proud, given the dedication, discipline and hard work it takes to achieve their goals. And why shouldn't they show it off?
Who wouldn't?!

Here's a few choice quotes and some photos to illustrate them. But keep reading after the pics, because I'm getting on my soap box again.

The development of my body has made it more toned, and more curvaceous.
I think I'm more feminine now than before I had muscles.

From how I see things, women with great physical shape are at an advantage in the dating game. They weed off insecure, puny boys who aren't man enough to stand beside a strong woman without feeling inadequate, and attract men who are self-confident enough to accept the better package.

Most women at the gym wouldn't even dream of using the dumbells that I use. When I do shoulder presses at the gym, the newbies tend to look because they aren't used to seeing a woman with biceps and shoulders, and they really show during shoulder presses, it amuses me.

I love working out and watching my muscles develop. It gives me greater confidence and I feel sexier. Yes, I can lift more weight than some men but that should be a motivator for them, not a turn off.

I actually catch more criticism from other women than the men in the gym, probably because the majority of them go in all dolled-up and not breaking a sweat, and I hang out in the free weight room and am there to actually do something.

I've worked out with some pretty massive female bodybuilders and heard the snide remarks that were made about us lifting weights, yet those same guys would try to hit on us when their 'posse' was no longer present. Go figure.

So what about a Female Muscle Pride rally? No, really! Muscular women deserve to be celebrated in my opinion. Imagine, women from local gyms and fitness clubs parading through your city, showing off their muscles, flexing for the crowd. 'Celebrity' muscle babes could be invited to lead the parade or give posing or workout displays. After the parade, when the sun goes down, the clubs and bars are full of muscular women, and guys (and girls) wanting to meet them. There could be posing shows, feats of strength contests, even female muscle karaoke...

And all with the aim of spreading the good word of the female muscle gospel. Women, some brought along by muscle-loving boyfriends, others just curious to see what it's all about, might get inspired by the sight of a parade of hard, toned muscular bodies and subsequently hit the gym. This would not only make their boyfriends happier, it would also make the women themselves feel sexier. On top of that, as the parades became annual events, attitudes would change and prejudice against female muscle would gradually be eradicated.

As far as I can see, everybody wins! This may be the best idea I've ever had (though it is late and I'm a little high, so this may just read like the confused rantings of a madman).

What is it that makes Brazilian women so sexy?
Generally, Brazilian women I've met have all been extremely outgoing, fun-loving and flirtatious without seeming sleazy. So for a start they have sexy personalities.
Secondly, Brazil is such an ethnic melting pot that there are plenty of exotic mixed-race women to suit every taste. For example, I've seen dark-skinned, dark-haired beauties from there with blue or green eyes - a particularly favourite combination of mine. Or could it simply be something in the water?

Maybe it's just that they spend a lot of time in the gym...

Although as we can see from the woman in the background in the picture on the right, this is not true of all Brazilian women!
