Freaky Friday: Konstantina Kaskani

imagebam.com

I have several reasons to smile, says veteran Greek muscle goddess Konstantina.

Now I remember her from the glory days of greekmuscle.net (now sadly no longer with us) as a woman who was never backward in coming forward to show off her own particular brand of ripped WABBA muscularity. Recently though, the addition of some enhancement to her pectoral enhancements has apparently made her even bolder.

imagebam.com

And this newly-enhanced boldness reached thrilling freaky peak (so far) in early June. Gosh! exclaimed one forum poster. She's reached a whole new level. Very hot!!!

Don't you find it comforting to know that there are others, like our forum poster, out there who are just as impressed by such gnarly female muscle as you yourself are? We know full well that we could totally explain the attraction of - for example - Cindy Landolt to a non-female muscle head, but not this. Never this. This is just for us.

imagebam.com

A lady in the street, a freak in the gym, is the philosophy Konstantina signs up to. I'm sure the first half of that is true, but a (reasonably) thorough search of her IG doesn't show a lot of evidence of it. Plenty of the other though. And not just in the gym.

Enjoy! (You freaks!)

Summer Break I: Day 1

In the past, FMS has tended to close up shop for weeks over the summer, usually during August. We've tried not to leave you FMS-less on those occasions, and have consequently come up with ideas like Legs Month, August Picture Post, and, last year, While the Slave's Away to tide you over while we're sunning ourselves.

This year we're not shutting up the offices for one long holiday but a series of shorter breaks, but our commitment to give you at least one stunning example of female muscle heat to look at every day remains. So this year it's Summer Breaks, and this week we're taking our first of the year. We hope you enjoy our selections.

GREEK GODDESS

imagebam.com

We first met Tereza here on FMS when the possibility of a Greek exit was the biggest headache the EU had to deal with (seems like a long time ago now) and most recently, we brought you news in passing of Tereza's crowning (again) as Greek Physique champion during our week of Size Matters - see Too Big for Her (IFBB) World.

imagebam.com

I'm a sucker for those sultry Mediterranean ladies even when they haven't got big bulging muscles, so it's hardly surprisng Tereza sends me into a full swoonspin, and she's been in fantastic shape recently - before, during and after her triumph at her national championships. But there's even more to it than that I think.

imagebam.com

I've said before that despite all the potential overkill it creates, social media gives the female muscle fan the opportunity to see that moment when a young female bodybuilder starts to fully realise her potential. To watch her reach her peak not in the narrower contest-ready sense, but in the more general sense of reaching her peak as a muscular woman. It's the moment when she truly becomes a muscle goddess.

imagebam.com

I think Tereza has arrived at that moment right now.

imagebam.com

Follow Tereza on Instagram and see if you agree. She's not been the most prolific poster in the past, but that's starting to change - perhaps an indication that she's starting to feel like the goddess I think she has become. Now she's national champ there might be international dates like the Arnold Europe ahead for her. Exciting!!!

Enjoy!

Size Matters: Too Big for Her (IFBB) World

These are not easy times for European female bodybuilders. Unless your pal Alina Popa is getting you a guest posing slot at a US pro show and lobbying for you to be awarded your pro card, your options are extremely limited with your division completely removed from amateur IFBB contests such as the World Championships. A handful continue to compete within the NABBA/WFF federations at the few shows where they are welcomed, and then there are the local, national and international shows organised within the IBFA umbrella where they might find themselves competing against - if they're lucky - one or maybe two other women.

It's no surprise then that many have instead chosen to compete within the burgeoning Physique division, and some, as we recently saw on FMS, are enjoying great success, but for others, it's not going quite so well, and I'd definitely count the size-obsessed Greek powerhouse Vasiliki "Vaso" Dimitraki among the less fortunate.

imagebam.com

Quite simply she is, like the title of the film says, Too Big for the World.

Or too big the world of Greek Physique competition anyway!

imagebam.com

The gorgeous Tereza Pantela, winning for the second consecutive year, was well worth the trophy at the recent Greek Championships - an IFBB affiliated show. I'm not about to argue with the placings, just point out that Vaso despite (in my inexpert opinion anyway) being in by far the best shape of her life, found herself up against more judging-criteria-friendly physiques and consequently didn't make the top 3.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

And it's not that she is just stubbornly refusing to fit in. There's no sour grapes from Vaso, nor any self-pity. She said afterwards she had "felt honoured" to be on stage with her Greek muscle sisters, and thanking her coach she spoke of the "spectacular" improvements she felt she had made during this preparation, how she had "bled and sweated". And she remains optimistic about her chances in the future. I don't stop here, she says. I keep working and the next time it will be totally different!

imagebam.com imagebam.com
imagebam.com imagebam.com

The news that Vaso is so looking forward to her next Physique outing will hardly come as a cause for celebration for those fans for whom size matters though. Here is (yet) another woman reining in her exciting mass potential.

imagebam.com imagebam.com
imagebam.com imagebam.com

In April, a cammer reported that she looks incredible right now, amazingly thick with muscle, traps and neck are up there with Oana as the best in the sport, I think. Granted, said cammer may have still been "coming down" and perhaps was a little over-excited when he said that... But then again, perhaps he was absolutely spot on!

imagebam.com

Point is, he said it. And his effusive praise for Baso is by no means the only example you can find on the forums. A Greek goddess, [she] honestly looks like she just strutted down from the top of Mount Olympus. She could be one of the Great Ones.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

Again, perhaps our Vaso fans are getting a bit carried away, but let's say they are right. She's still young, she's got time on her side, let's say she is going to blossom and grow into one of the great FBBs one day. First of all, she's going to have to turn herself into a top Physique competitor, a great one even. It's the only choice those who govern her sport still give her and other would-be European FBBs. In fact, it's no choice at all.

imagebam.com imagebam.com
imagebam.com imagebam.com

I might be feeling sorry for her, and you might too. But rather than ending today's post on a downer, we'll give the last word to Vaso and a more positive, defiant note, a timely reminder that no matter what anyone else does, ultimately female bodybuilding will continue as long as there are women who want to be female bodybuilders.

A good life is when you smile often, dream big and realize how blessed you are! Don't let anyone belittle your ambitions. Get out there and dominate everything you do. Work hard in silence, then make your f*cking noise through success!

[I'm} Just getting started.

imagebam.com

Let's hope that's true.

ANASTASIA PAPOUTSAKI

imagebam.com

Our final Greek goddess of the week was, to me anyway, a surprising omission from FMS' Hot and Hard 100 for 2015. Still just 29, already an IFBB Physique pro, and the recently-crowned Mediterranean Physique champion, it's the absolutely drop-dead gorgeous Cretan Queen of Female Muscle, Anastasia Papoutsaki.

imagebam.com imagebam.com
At last year's Olympia Amateur in Prague, where she finished 3rd

Anastasia (her name alone is worth a mini-swoon) is, you may recall from FMS passim, a former international 400m hurdler who was forced to retire due to injury. The success she has had in the two or so years since bears out the femuscle-headed theory that athletes, particularly sprint athletes, would all make great bodybuilders.

Anastasia says*: Crisis? What crisis? It's leg day!

imagebam.com

Follow the very beautiful Anastasia's further adventures - her next contest will be the Arnold Classic Europe in September - on Facebook and Instagram.

Enjoy!

*Probably not a million miles away from what she really thinks about it all, but nevertheless, the FMS legal department insist I add this disclaimer:
Anastasia had nothing to do with this post and these are not her words.

ELENA KAVVA

imagebam.com

Greece's IFBB Physique pro "did an Aleesha" and dyed those lovely dark locks some time towards the end of last year. I have to say, I'm not 100% convinced by her new look, but given that Elena is a former martial artist, I wouldn't say so to her face!

imagebam.com imagebam.com

And it was through her kung fu that she discovered and ultimately fell for weight training. I always liked to add a few weights in my training for muscular strengthening, and it was something that I started to like more and more until at the age of 17 I realized that I was madly in love with dumbbells, she says.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

Regarding the crisis, Elena says*: As long as Olympiakos can remain competitive in the Champions League, I really don't care which currency we're using!

imagebam.com

Elena is on Facebook.

Enjoy!

*While the quote about falling in love with dumbbells is real, this one is not.

TEREZA PANTELA

imagebam.com imagebam.com

A former Bodyfitness/Figure competitor, stunning Tereza Pantela is now a Physique competitor - and with so much new muscle looks like one! She is, in fact, the female Greek phyzeek this year, having won the class at the national championships.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

She's now sponsored by Scitec Nutrition, who can usually spot a woman with the potential to compete at the highest level - Larissa Reis, Suzy Toldi etc. So it would be a fair assumption that Tereza's star is going to be rising in the very near future.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

Tereza says*: Just give me 15 minutes alone in a room with those bankers...

And you'll be able to follow Tereza's ascent on Facebook.

And for today's muscle in motion, not the best-shot clip in the world, but what it lacks in pixels, Tereza's posing - not to mention her posing suit - more than make up for.

You might also enjoy Tereza training shoulders from her Figure days.

Enjoy

*Tereza had nothing to do with this post.
