Arnold Classic 2017: Physique Dreams Part 3

A DREAM TO SOME, A NIGHTMARE TO OTHERS

But obviously not quite what Autumn expected to be showing off during her routine...

Elsewhere, in a slightly underwhelming line-up in the shorter (up to 163cm) Physique class at the Arnold Amateur, Swell very much dug 4th place American Jeanna Roth.



Jeanna, who runs her own therapeutic massage business, has been competing for a few years now, and was 7th in her class at the Jr Nationals last year. A real beauty.

The taller class had fewer competitors, but for my money was bigger on interest. We enjoyed the energetic posing of Paola Sanchez at the 2016 Arnold Amateur, and did so again as she finished (perhaps disappointingly, she was 2nd in the class last year) 5th on this occasion. We also remembered Alexandra Heberger from last year's event. This time the blond Canadian improved on her 2016 5th place and took 4th.




And then there was Julia. Apart from anything else, last year's tall class winner wore an amazing spider ring (and I can tell it's amazing because it made me look away from Julia herself). Perhaps it distracted the judges too, because she couldn't repeat her 2016 triumph and had to settle for 3rd behind Fabiana Rossa and the class winner and former female bodybuilder Lenka Ferenčuková from the Czech Republic.

Back at the pro show, it wasn't just Autumn's wardrobe that was malfunctioning...



The soundman f***ed it up, one highly perceptive YouTube commentator noted. Nevertheless, Sheronica was good enough to almost win. Who knows how far she could go if they actually played the right music at the right time during her routine?

And while all that was going on, the big and beautiful Katie Lee was prowling (I just see her as some kind of tigress with her (often) orange locks and all that power, so prowling it is) around at the Expo looking for the next woman she would make feel all inferior in her presence... Sorry! I mean Katie was looking for women to interview.



Among those who did agree to be flexed out of sight as they were being thanked for their time was little... Sorry! Fitness pros Ariel Khadr, Kristine Duba and Rebecca Sizemore (though Katie got more size), beautiful Figure pro Heather Dees (above), and B Barnett, who is rapidly becoming an FMS fave, from the Physique line-up.

Pick of the bunch for me though is Katie's sit-down with Tish Shelton. Two sets of sleeveless muscular arms, and despite the run-of-the-mill line of questioning, there's Tish's Southern brogue to enjoy, and the fact that at the end (after a bit of prompting from Katie) Tish joins our roving tigress in the flex. So we know that Tish is brave.



So, you are probably wondering, what happened to Autumn?

Or, more likely, are there are any vidcaps of the moment?

2016 Review: March

Hot and Hard 100 voting began for the third time, and while that was going on we "reduxed" the previous 10 months on FMS as a reminder. New stuff too though!

Debutants (And Their Backs)



In a post featuring six women making their first appearances on FMS we met Sandra Grajales Romero (above), "like Mexico's answer to Shanique Grant" with her Figure back that would do Physique proud, and Molly Brice, a 20-year-old Australian with a back that surely a 20-year-old hasn't had time to develop.



The Genius of Siberianar

I saw this on Google. I thought it was a real woman...



It's an easy mistake to make when first coming across the work of Andreas Siberis, we thought at the time, and a mistake I made myself. This digital artist is, as those more qualified to judge have pointed out, producing "the best 3D female muscle ever seen".

The FMS Arnold Classic Review

Went on a bit did this. We managed to get almost two weeks' worth of posts out of the Arnold Classic and Arnold Amateur, running from the last week of March into April.



Autumn Swansen cleaned up in the Physique International (no FBBs allowed near Arnold these days, so no Ms International to enjoy) and FMS wondered whether this was the look the IFBB were going to go for in 2016 and beyond - long, lean and ripped but not too ripped. Muscle but not too much muscle. How wrong we were! As usual.



Meanwhile, at the Arnold Amateur, Brazil's Fernanda Gutilla and Switzerland's Julia Föry won their classes and provided us with the biggest swoons.



Also making a big impression was Denmark's gorgeous Physique pro Ida Sefland, who tends to go through phases of competing a lot then taking a long break, so we got our swoon in while we could. And Diana Schnaidt, while she was still kidding herself she was a Figure competitor, was interviewed by Katie Lee for HD Physiques.

Peaks Week: Seeing Double

It's not easy to choose a single image of Katie Lee's perfect peaks, and I should know.

First I came up with a (not very short) shortlist, which I then circulated around the FMS office and into the inboxes of a handful of the blog's finest consultants...

Big mistake.

I couldn't even agree with myself - why on Earth did I imagine a bunch of rabid sthenolagniacs would be able to? Punch-ups (both virtual and real) ensued.



If only Katie had been here to sort us all out!

In the event, the decision was taken by FMS editor J.J. Pennypacker, and involved him spending 72 hours locked in his office with Katie and her guns for company.

And fluids. Lots of fluids.

He emerged and announced he had found a definitive top 3 only to have it pointed out to him that he was only holding two images and that they were almost identical.



Top 2 then, he mumbled, and away to the Priory for some quiet time he went.

Physique Dreams: Olympian Dreams

Today, three of the many excellent interviews done at the recent Olympia for HD Physiques by Sarah Butler, Ashley Losee and perennial mic holder Katie Lee. All are Physique pros dreaming of their date (maybe next year) on the Olympia stage, and, it's certainly no coincidence, are all firm FMS faves featured on these pages before.

Enjoy the vests, the bulging biceps, the obligatory end-of-interview flexes!

BROOKE WALKER (interviewed by Katie Lee)



Not the first time these two have talked for the camera by any means. Brooke looks fantastic in her grey vest, her shoulders and arms rippling with solid muscle as she waxes lyrical about some of the women who were competing at the Olympia. She appears to have a bit of a woman crush on Autumn Swansen in particular.

SIERRA MANGUS (interviewed by Sara Butler)




It's no secret I've had a crush on Sierra since long before she turned pro, and the recent racier turn her Instagram (aka "The Tao of Sierra") has taken has only made matters worse. Currently, as she says in the clip, Sierra's deep in prep. It doesn't necessarily show here, but head over to said IG and you'll see she's in absolutely tip-top shape.

JEN LOUWAGIE (interviewed by Sara Butler)



Entitled "Awesome Biceps..." and it's not hard to see why. Check it out though, Jen reveals in the interview that this is her year off. This is how her arms look when she's NOT competing!!! Must have had some security there, I mean it's the only reason I can find to explain why some drooling female muscle head doesn't rush into shot, kneel before Jen and beg her permission to touch those arms "just once".

Champion of the Day: Katie M. Lee

NPC Jr Nationals Women's Physique Class D Champion



We're more used to seeing the gorgeous FMS heartthrob Katie Lee (Hot and Hard 100 #85) asking the questions before outgunning the interviewee for HD Physiques at Expos and shows all over, so it's nice to see her oiled, tanned and ripped and this time answering the questions with Ashley Adams holding the mic. Katie had just stepped off stage after winning her class at the NPC Jr USAs, and Ashley is quite right to take a step back and give the camera nothing but the bronzed Ms Lee when the (same old) questions and answers stop and the flexing starts at around the 4.00...



Alright Katie you're famous for one thing, your fans wanna see it, says Ashley, though to be honest when I saw the clip for the first time I spent pretty much the entire four minutes before Katie flexes transfixed by her right bicep (and shoulder) dancing hypnotically as she gesticulates (as all FBBs seem to do in such circumstances quite a lot more than your average woman) throughout their less-than-riveting chat.

Been a long, hard 20-week contest prep, Katie told her Instagram followers between the prejudging and finals, more than a little excited that she had been front and centre in the first callout. And although she didn't win the overall title the following evening, she was "beyond excited" to have landed one of the four pro cards on offer.

In the shape of her life (and that is saying something), she didn't waste any time at all putting it to use, returning to Chicago four weeks later for another "amazing weekend". Making her debut in a field of 18 (or 19 according to Katie, but I counted 18) women, she earned herself a 6th place finish. More than I could ever ask for, she said.

The success had been coming. Katie had finished 2nd at the Jr USAs in May, after consistently placing 4th or 5th at national level shows during 2014 and 2015. Meanwhile, those magnificent arms did not escape the notice of the female muscle lovin' brethren. Dem peaks are steeper than Everest! exclaimed one impressed fan.



But Katie's not doing it for us. Well, not unless she's wearing nothing but a tan, a pair of shades and a pink bikini... But anyway, she's not doing it for us! I am here to motivate and inspire young women that they can be muscular, strong and still be feminine! she says, and it seems that I and several FMS readers and nearly 7,000 IG followers agree that so far in her three-year career she's been doing a pretty good job of it.



She big and beefy in the off-season, lean and tight for competitions, so whatever way you like it, Katie's got it covered. She's gorgeous whatever condition she's in, and on top of that, is it just me who's noticed her voice has got ever so slightly deeper and sexier over the last year? Given the auspicious start she has made to her pro career, I wonder if it's possible that Katie Lee is one of those rare women about whom the much-maligned IFBB judges and the (much-maligned) female muscle fans agree!

Arnolds 2016 Review: Meanwhile @ the Expo

There was, I imagine, a bit of a queue to get up close and personal with Dani.



Even if the result of all that waiting in line was a picture of you and the goddess that leaves you - no matter how stunning you might be in real life - looking a bit, well, ordinary.



Because Dani, from any angle, was looking exceptional, arguably in her best ever shape. A shape good enough, remember, to take home the (not very big) cheque for 2nd place.



So good in fact, she was freaking herself out!



And adding yet more to the mountain of adoration she receives from the female muscle lovin' community. [I'm] Lost for words... claims one fan, before proving they are, after all, actually not. So gorgeous & built to the hilt! they continue. What a dream girl...



Also prowling around the Expo for HD Physiques was Katie Lee, interviewing various gorgeous women with greater or lesser amounts of muscle before rather rudely outflexing them as she signed off. Here the vision that is Diana Schnaidt gets "katied".
