Northern Ireland's Emma Gormley didn't place at the 2014 NABBA Worlds...



After that, she took a break from competition to become a mother for the fourth time.

But, towards the end of April 2016, less than a year after her daughter's birth, she was back in her posing suit, reclaiming the NABBA Northern Ireland Ms Trained Figure title she'd previously won in 2014. And she followed that up at the end of May by becoming the new NABBA Ms Britain. I came back bigger and better so maybe that year out was a good thing to do, she told local media in her hometown of Derry. "Maybe"?! On top of her NABBA activities, Emma has also competed twice in PCA (Physical Culture Association) shows, winning a national qualifying event and finishing runner-up at the British finals. It has been a good year, she says. "Good"?!

Now Emma has her sights set on the NABBA Universe in October.




I assume she'll be keeping the same prep coach for that event as she's had in her corner all year. The name might well be familiar to you, it's that ol' rascal Rosanna Harte...

Flores Rules the (NABBA) World

Brazilian women tend to fare well at international NABBA shows. It's been three years since a brasileira failed to triumph in at least one of the classes at the NABBA Worlds and or the NABBA Universe - entirely appropriate, you might think, given the thong and glute-fest that NABBA shows are! But anyway, the 2016 NABBA Worlds were held in Brazil, ensuring a high contingent of Brazilian femuscle, and, it would have been fair to assume, all but guaranteeing there would be some home winners.

And so it proved.

The Figure Masters winner - Vivianne Romaguera - and both of the Trained Figure class winners - Andrea Carvalho and Ariane Souza (who also won the Overall title) - hail from Brazil. In fact, there only one non-Brazilian winner among the women, NABBA Britain champion Emma Hyndman winning in the Toned Figure class.

The Physique (ie. Bodybuilding) class, after briefly disappearing from the NABBA Worlds in 2014, was back again, and it is here we find the most exciting new NABBA Worlds champ. Another Brazilian, and perhaps the woman whose muscles have grabbed the attention both of FMS and the female muscle lovin' world in general more than any other so far in 2016, the magnificent Flores Neide Souza Campos.



In May, we noted a few of the reactions Flores has been getting on the forums. And that post generated more praise for her from FMS readers themselves. Hottest new FBB! She's stunning, exclaimed "Mike". I hope she sticks around for a long time, he added. I've seen her Awefilms video, reported another reader, and [it] is just incredible.



Flores is incredibly hot and sexy, a German reader commented. I hope she keeps growing into a true muscle goddess with insane deltoids and thanks to her husband (who, you may remember is also her trainer) more muscular and sexier yet!




And here, thanks to the NABBA YouTube channel, who have been uploading routines, callouts and awards clips from the show with their usual efficiency, is this amazing slab of carne nobre doing her World champion thing at the show. And in a thong posing suit too! It's almost too much for this ol' female muscle head. Almost.

FBBUK: Linda & Fay Win in the North

Congratulations are in order to two of FMS' favourite UK muscle ladies, both already winners in 2016.

Winner, Women's Physique UKBFF North-west Championships 2016



Linda booked her place at the British finals later in the year with her (I think I'm right in saying) first ever win at the UKBFF North-west Championships. And apart from all the other reasons to celebrate, she was especially chuffed to have been awarded the trophy by none other than IFBB Pro Wendy McCready, who guest posed at the show.



First time I saw Wendy McCready in Evolution [gym] I was in awe and didn't dare speak to her, Linda said afterwards. Now many years later we are good friends, and to be awarded the trophy by a Lady I have admired since the day I started lifting properly is something I will cherish.



All in all, Linda "had the best day", and if anyone deserves to have a bumper year, then it's her. After such a successful time as a NABBA athlete (see previously on FMS) she's had little success in terms of placings within the UKBFF, but has never even come close to resting on her former laurels. She tirelessly continues to refine and improve her physique year on year.



I know my own weaknesses, she says, I embrace challenging myself, I know I have more in me, I know I will beat the old me. I can easily look in the mirror and smile because there is so much more to give.



As always, actual concrete news of the show is hard to come by. I have no idea, for example, how many women there were in the Physique division at the show (I would bet not many) but eagle-eyed readers may have spotted a familiar face (and body) to Linda's right there. Presumably, given that she is on Linda's left, she was runner-up on this occasion.

But Fay Ellis (aka Fay Simone, see previously on FMS), didn't have to wait long after the Warrington show for her first win of the year.



Again, not a lot of news about this other than what I have gleaned from Fay's own Instagram feed, but she definitely won, and with her victory she qualified for the NABBA Britain finals, which take place in the last weekend of May.



Footage from international NABBA shows generally turns up on YouTube, domestic shows not so much, but the FMS research team are on it, and if any of Fay's routine does turn up, we'll be sure to let you know.

Who Is Lea Pearl?

Granted, the character of Lea Pearl is a professional female bodybuilder and all the women today are very much still in the very much still amateur NABBA federation, but who knows, maybe it's the super dark tans and the super ripped muscles and the super tiny thongs that the producers think will conjure up the world of female muscle best?

Britain's NABBA champion is Mrs Jolley now, having recently tied the knot. She may be a bit young for the role, but she cetainly has the looks, and if her 2016 version is as big an improvement on 2015 as Sarah in 2015 was compared to herself in 2014, she will certainly have more than enough muscle to carry off the role of a pro FBB.

A real NABBA veteran, and, like a fine wine, improving with every passing year. Unlike that fine wine though the improvement is in the form of refined and downright freaky muscle. Film star beautiful, and mature enough to be believable in the role as well.

If actually being mother and knowing all about the choices a top class female bodybuilder has to make regarding her family is going to be an advantage, then fire-fighter and NABBA muscle mum Sarah will be a strong candidate to play Lea Pearl. And if she did get the role it would be churlish of our "auteur" to miss the opportunity for some great close-ups of Sarah's vascular muscles in a pump room scene.

There has to be a pump room scene, right?!



And if I may just bring one more lady who graces the NABBA ranks in for audition today, then let's make that woman Sarah's very own backstage bestie and one of FMS' 2015 NABBA faves to boot - Northern Ireland's most muscle sexy Linda Cassidy.
