Abs Week: Abs of Yesteryear

or THE ABS THAT MADE ME FALL IN LOVE WITH ABS

Anja Langer

imagebam.com imagebam.com

My first Abs Queen. Soon after I first got turned-on to female muscle, I saw an issue of Muscle & Fitness in my local newsagent with Anja on the cover in contest shape in a black bikini (very similar to the image on the right if that is not the image itself). I couldn’t have stopped myself buying it even if I’d wanted to. And of course the reason I bought it was so that I could masturbate while looking at her, but while I did plenty of that, I also remember spending a lot of time just looking at her, following the contours of her muscles with my eyes and thinking how perfect her body was. And thinking the most perfect part of her body was her stomach (I doubt I even knew they were called abs then).

Tonya Knight

imagebam.com

I’m pretty sure that the reason for my reaction to Anja’s, Tonya’s, and countless other female bodybuilders’ abs in those first few years was that I had never seen anything like them before, and they were so different from the norm. This must have been the reason for the intensity of my physical response to them. Sure, I’d seen athletes, but they weren’t wearing bikinis and deliberately flexing. This was a completely new concept to me, and these were a completely new kind of woman.

Sharon Bruneau

imagebam.com

A female muscle Etna, Sharon smoulders in the kind of abs-revealing swimsuit that seems to have gone right out of vogue. And I think that is a crying shame, because once upon a time, there was a teenage female muscle fan who used to jump for joy when he found one of his pin-ups in a magazine who was wearing one.

Sandy Riddell and Valerie Scott model two more examples.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

Whether these swimsuits revealed as much of the pec area as they did the abs (like Sharon’s above) or revealed just about everything else (like Valerie’s) didn’t (and still doesn’t) matter to me. There just needs to be a space where the abs go. For what it’s worth, I reckon the abs-revealing swimsuit (there is probably a proper name but I don’t care what it is) died because there are simply not enough women in the world who look good in them to make it economically viable. Or something.

Juliette Bergmann and Marjo Selin

imagebam.com imagebam.com
imagebam.com

MAJOR teenage crushes. While my classmates pasted the lead singer of The Bangles (whatever her name was) to the inside of their locker doors, and I pretended to like her too, of course, back at home I was drooling over the likes of Juliette and Marjo. Not only did they have the sexy sexy abs (as well as other muscles) that I desired, they were just so EXOTIC. I still find the young Juliette’s unique beauty absolutely mouth-watering, and as for Marjo, I didn’t even know how to pronounce her name (Mar-Joe? Mar-Yo?) and it doesn’t get any more exotic than that.

Alphie Newman

imagebam.com imagebam.com

To a boy from the suburbs of London, Alphie seemed to be the epitome of the all-American girl. An all-American girl with a six-pack and muscles everywhere else too. And what’s more she was more or less the same age as me, leading to all sorts of fantasies. Unfortunately, in the suburbs of London in the late 1980s, girls like Alphie were in short supply. My imagination, though, was limitless.

Tara Dodane and Marie Mahabir

imagebam.com imagebam.com

Issues of muscle magazines with contest reports of female bodybuilding shows were always must-buys. These days female bodybuilding is a footnote in the general muscle media, but once upon a time there were full page pictures of all the top placing contestants and their big hair and ripped abs.

WPW Covers

imagebam.com imagebam.com

Whether there were abs on the cover or not, WPW was always a must-buy, but here’s two examples of covers that would have got me even hotter under the collar than usual, from issues that were over ten years apart. On the left, female muscle pioneer Kay Baxter, and on the right an image of Karen Netterstrom that I reckon has become one of the iconic shots of female muscle fandom.

Christa Bauch and Charla Sedacca

imagebam.com imagebam.com

And inside the covers of those WPW magazines, physiques the likes of which I had never imagined. They were so different from mainstream portrayals of ideal beauty, they were so lean, their muscles so defined, and for me they were so exciting to behold. In those days, you thought you might be the only one who found these women beautiful and sexy, leading to all kinds of confusion. It’s a better world for female muscle fans now that I can share my love of images like the ones of Christa and Charla with you.

Laura Creavalle and Negrita Jayde: Unforgettable

imagebam.com imagebam.com

And to finish, back to the mainstream muscle media. Two images that I would have first come across in the mainstream muscle mags as a teenage boy and then rediscovered through the internet many many years later thanks to the efforts of the lovely people who scan. These images of Laura and Negrita were so familiar after so many years that I could almost smell the magazine when I saw them again. The kind of images from my youth that made me the female muscle fan I remain to this day.

Enjoy!

And don’t forget to vote for your favourite abs!

Abs Week: Just Abs

Before I started doing the blog, I used to organise pics I collected into themed folders (a little trainspotty I know, but there you are). You won't be surprised to learn that one of the themes I returned to again and again was 'Abs'. And while I was going through those folders to prepare for this week's post, I found one called 'Just Abs'. This isn't a selection from that folder, the images today are much more recent than that, but that's where the inspiration from today's post came from.

Abs, the whole abs and nothing but the abs...

imagebam.com
Not a sight you'd complain about if you were coming home to it night after night. Never mind your abs, darling, where's my dinner? would be an odd thing to say. Hold that pose and I'll just grab some champagne to lick off your beautiful muscles would be a much less strange reaction, don't you agree?

imagebam.com
I think you're starting to burn, darling. Better get some cream on. Shall I? Meanwhile I'm thinking that I cannot wait to see her bronzed abs above her tan line. This holiday was definitely worth forking out for!

left: I think the abs may have been added to this image by a skilled hand (which rules me out). I'm not saying this either because I care if they are real or not (I don't) or because I'm good at spotting fakes (I'm appalling) but simply because I vaguely recall getting this image from an art site rather than a photo site. Vaguely. Anyway, real or not, aren't they pretty?
imagebam.com imagebam.com
right: Now I'm 99% sure this image is real, even though the abs are bloody well UNREAL! Up the middle there are cuts that remind me of the hallmarks you see on silverware. And as far as the external obliques are concerned, well, I for one would like to see how they end up.

imagebam.com
Another set of abs that gets me thinking about all sorts of 'dream girlfriend' scenarios, not least the one where I'm taking the picture (think about where I would have to be and where her head would be). Crude, I know, but hey, the 'clean' scenarios are not nearly as interesting.

imagebam.com imagebam.com
This very lickable set of abdominal muscles belongs to Eleonora Dobrinina, who is not, as the name might suggest, a Russian, but a Canadian WBFF pro. You can follow 'Ella' and her abs on Twitter and Facebook if you like what you see, and believe me, she really likes showing off her abs. I LOVE the smiley face in the corner of the left-hand picture. Very sweet and simultaneously devilishly sexy.

imagebam.com
The top rolled up a bit, and the shorts pulled down a bit. Yummy.

imagebam.com
Again, rolled up and pulled down. This time with a tan. Therefore, yummier!

left: Serious Abs I
Could they be any more ripped, pumped and sexy?
imagebam.com imagebam.com
right: Serious Abs II
A veritable abdominal anatomy lesson. If you can see anything here except skin and muscle then you have a keener eye than I do. Wow! I think this may be Yvetta Balla's incredible midsection, can anyone confirm or refute this? Apologies for my lack of certainty today, it's just that looking at all these images has scrambled my brain a bit. Or at least I think it has.

imagebam.com
And finally for today, Lena Hedblad, and what looks like what her abs looked like on the day of a contest. I'd say she was 'contest ready', wouldn't you?

More amazing abs tomorrow. Enjoy!

Abs Week: Muscular Abs in Motion

Today, a personal selection of gifs with abs from the genius that is responsible for Muscular Girls in Motion on Tumblr.

WARNING! Some of these are just a little bit naughty, so you might not want to scroll down too far if you are at work or another place where you're not completely at ease with images of sexy muscular women showing off their sexy six-packs wearing nothing but the skin they're in.

Firstly, let us never forget that hot abs are the results of hard work.

Next up, Patricia Houston takes a breath that takes my breath away.
Among other things.

Sara Butler takes her abs seriously...

... but Katka K. and Sarah D. can't stop smiling.

And who can blame them?

Don't worry, it's not getting naughty just yet.
Now, how about a little wiggle?

You like? I thought you would.

I'm pretty sure you'll like this too.
And I'm pretty sure this is abs legend Karen Zaremba.

I always find it's best to get oily before you get naughty, don't you?

And there's no one I'd rather get oily with than Oana.

NAUGHTINESS STARTS HERE

If it's Autumn, it's probably naughty...

Gosh that exercise looks like fun!

How does Victoria Dominguez aka Mistress Treasure
spend her evenings do you think? Like this, probably.

And finally, the climax of today's post.

Perfection.

Why not drop by Muscular Girls in Motion and give this man (I assume it's a man, anyway) some appreciation and love. He works hard for our viewing pleasure!

Enjoy!

Abs Week: Tummy Love

The thing is I love my abs. I honestly and truly do. I don’t know very many women who are able or willing to say the same, women who are happy with what they've got going on around their tummies.
"Ann"

imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com

Like "Ann", I don't know many women who are truly happy with their stomachs, and I seriously doubt you do either, dear reader. Today we're celebrating the rare breed that are. The rare breed who with diet, discipline and sheer hard work have beaten the biological hand that nature dealt them and sculpted away their natural feminine fat. And what they have revealed are six-packs so satisfying that they just have to show them off to the world.

imagebam.com

Back to "Ann": I have gotten to a point where I am completely and totally confident in the way my stomach is shaped because I have gotten there the healthy way. I wasn't swayed by the quick fixes of diet pills or fad diets or anything like that. I have been able to do this by watching what I eat and putting in the hours upon hours of blood and sweat and tears to make myself stronger and leaner. It finally shows.

imagebam.com imagebam.com
Over the last two years or so I've pushed myself up to lifting three times a week, running multiple times a week. I do at least a 15-minute ab workout 5-6 times a week. I have paid attention to what I eat, being careful to focus my meals on lean proteins and lots of vegetables. Let me tell you what that has done.

It makes me pause for an extra few seconds if I happen to walk in front of a mirror shirtless.

It makes me start counting down to summer when I’ll be able to strut just a little bit more in that polka dot bikini.

imagebam.com

As a result of their efforts, what "Ann" and the women you can see here today have that the majority of women don't have is CONFIDENCE. And confidence is an attractive quality for a woman to have. Especially when she's showing that confidence by lifting up her hoodie/shirt/vest etc. and showing off her abs, or, even better perhaps, strutting along a beach in a polka dot bikini!

imagebam.com imagebam.com

Female muscle heads like you and me 'get' "Ann". We understand why she would do what she's doing because we appreciate the results so very very much. And we really don't understand why someone would not want their woman to have sexy abs. Do guys like this actually exist? Are there really guys who would look at a woman like "Ann" and think she would be OK if she had a belly rather than a six-pack? Hard to believe, but then again I'm not the best at seeing things from the point of view of the female muscle unlovers of this world.

imagebam.com

Now here are a pair of interesting images. They're not just lifting up their tops to show off their abs, they're lifting up their tops with their teeth! A whole new sub-niche of female muscle photography may just have been born...

imagebam.com imagebam.com

The lady on the left is unidentified, and has got herself slightly cross-eyed in her efforts here, which is not the best look but should nevertheless be applauded, but on the right we have Nadege Pedretti and despite her lack of muscularity elsewhere, I think we can all agree she's got sex appeal in spades.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

Of all the current female bodybuilders, few exude the kind of self-love that drives the likes of me and you wild like Suzy Kellner. Her recent fitvids clips are a case in point - if you haven't seen them, I suggest you move heaven and earth to do so. At the end of one clip, she finishes a set of hanging leg raises, struts away from the camera, past a couple of open-mouthed male gymgoers, then turns back to the camera, in full view of those men, and then, grinning from ear to ear, hits three or four incredibly sexy poses. And no, I'm not sponsored by fitvids, but really, move heaven and earth to see Suzy in her element.

imagebam.com

And here's another woman who can't get enough of herself showing herself off to the likes of you and me, perennial FMS favourite, Cinderella Landolt, who, we believe, is currently 'recovering' after having breast implants. I can't say I'm either pro or anti cosmetic surgery, for me it all depends on how much, how and where, but whether you think Cindy should have left well alone or not, I bet you can't help being curious about the results. And knowing there's a legion of fans out there waiting for the first pictures of her new self is probably not too bad for Cindy's self-confidence.

imagebam.com

And we begin as we started, with "Ann": I am not perfect by any means, but being able to say confidently and completely that I love this part of my body, my abs, is something I will always be proud of. Always.

Yeah!

And more of that part of the body tomorrow.

Meanwhile, you can read the whole article by "Ann" (although there's not much else besides the quotes) here. And don't forget to vote for your personal Abs Queen or Queens (see Saturday's post).

Enjoy!
