FMS @RP2018: No Comparison?

And we finish our week at the world's premier Female Bodybuilding contest (bit belatedly today, sorry about that) with the competitor who most exceeded the pre-contest expectations. Canada's blond bombshell Nicki Chartrand was barely mentioned in the lead-up to the event (not least by me), but ultimately walked off with the (previously monopolised by Sheila Bleck) Best Poser prize, and 4th place.



We have already waxed lyrical about her performance on the day - and particularly on the night with that scintillating winning posing routine (see Tales from the Feed ) - so instead we decided we'd try to piece together the Nicki Chartrand story so far.

Unfortunately, we didn't find much to piece together.

We do, however, know how she looked back in c.2015, when she seems to be competing at regional Canadian level, as a Bodybuilder too. The research team have really struggled to find any definitive list of her contest placings from the early part of her career - which really bothers me (can you tell?) and is the main reason why today's post has gone up so tardily. Anyway, it'll have to do. Here is our first comparison.

COMPARISON #1



Nicki v.2015 and Nicki v.2018

By 2016, we do know, she was the CBBF Nationals Women's Bodybuilding champion - a title previously held by (among others) Negrita Jade, Laura Binetti, Desiree Ellis, Sophie Duquette, Autumn Raby, Nicole Ball, and Fabiola Boulanger.

Not a bad list at all.

However, and despite being a Heavyweight, it is not in Women's Bodybuilding that Nicki Chartrand makes her pro debut, but in Physique - at the 2017 Toronto Pro.

Toronto Pro 2017 and Rising Phoenix 2018

There's so obviously too much muscle on her for IFBB Physique judges that it's almost funny imagining their faces, and within weeks Nicki debuted as a pro Bodybuilder. At the Lenda Murray/Norfolk Pro she beat the fan fave Theresa Ivancik (also on debut) and beat her well. Then she finished off 2017 with 12th place at the Rising Phoenix.



And then this year, she began her season early, at the Hawaii Pro, again in a less than numerous line-up, but up against a woman on debut who many fans were excited about seeing - Alina protégé Jennie Roosa. And the result? Nicki 1st, fan fave 2nd. Nicki could now celebrate her 2nd professional title and start prep for her second RP.

Which pretty much brings us up-to-date, but before we go, one more comparison.

The thought occurred to me while I was waiting for the Research Dept. to tell me they hadn't found much about Nicki's early career. There's something about her double biceps pose, the way she positions her long, muscle curvy legs when she hits it. Her general statuesqueness (well, it's a word now!), and I guess her colouring too, reminded me of a legend from the not-too-distant Female Bodybuilding past...

Perhaps not a fair comparison in terms of where Nicki is right now, but instead a peek into the not-too-distant future at where Nicki has the potential to be before too long.

Diana Schnaidt's Optimum Physique

As well as being a good day for winner Tome Ameko, the Optimum Classic Pro was also a good day for 4th place Diana Schnaidt, by far the best result she's had this year.



But as impressive as these stage shots are, you only really get a sense of just how Amazonian Diana is when you see her next to the other first callout ladies - even compared to the pretty damn Amazonian Valentina Mishina, Diana looks large.



But best of all would be to see Diana up-close and personal. Perhaps going through her compulsory (and some not strictly encouraged) poses in her hotel room before she thundered up onto the stage. All those gorgeous muscles right there in yer face.

Woman of the Week: Traci Stone

Feels good to keep my hard-earned work and still lean out. It's definitely not easy and I'm definitely not smiling like this all day long. The sacrifices I made up until this point has been challenging. At times I look at my meals and supps and just stare at them blinking. I get invited to places by people that don't understand my lifestyle. Sure I could go out and take the chance of missing meals and supps or being the laughing stock because I brought my own. No thanks, I'd rather suffer and endure the journey and fulfill it to the best of my capabilities. That way if I fail I can only blame myself. Traci Stone



Yes, I'm sorry that clip is so short too.

The upper body (in particular) of Traci Stone has set more than a few pulses racing lately, and here at FMS we have found ourselves far from immune to her charms.

Though largely unheralded on the forums before around mid-2016, the earliest reference to Traci that FMS has discovered goes all the way back to November 2011, the poster managing to be extremely complimentary and super creepy at the same time: I infiltrated the Facebook of this mysterious girl from San Diego (the creepy bit, "infiltrated"?!) and she might be the perfect woman! She is cute, she is clever, she is rich (the CEO of a clothing company for Bodybuilders), and she is strong.



This is how Traci looked around then, and though we can't vouch that being the CEO of a Bodybuilding clothing company necessarily entails great riches, there's no faulting the majority of our creepy/complimentary forum poster's description otherwise.



A couple of years on, and her now familiar upper body awesomeness was becoming all too apparent, and (no doubt as a result of that) Traci's social media posts started to reappear with increasing regularity and to increasingly effusive praise on the forums.



She gained not just size, but also a following - one, that is, outside the female muscle head community, a real following. Among them you find names like Mmmmonique Jones and Heidi Worrell-Osborn, and countless women inspired by Traci's journey, women who tell her "you motivate me every day" on an almost daily basis. Currently her following stands at a very healthy 52,000+ - compare that to, for example, (the much more "famous") Mmmmonique's, which is just under 35,000.



What's different about the last few months has been the extent to which Traci has leaned out and allowed us to see all those "amazingly sexy muscles" in such detail. She's getting into contest shape (perhaps for the first time, I can't be sure). What contest it will be I have no idea, but it's soon, very soon, possibly this weekend. And reading some of the comments on her Instagram, it seems a pro card will be on offer - her followers not surprisingly confidently predicting that Traci will be getting one.



I wouldn't argue with their assessment.

Traci (you may have guessed) mostly posts short clips rather than pictures of herself these days (which is something of a treat given the shape she's in right now). We leave you with one of my personal faves. It's hard trying to be cute when you have no fat in your face, she says. Somehow though, she manages to pull it off - in some style.

Big Is Back @FIBO 2018

For years and years Female Bodybuilders were practically banned from FIBO, this seems like a total comeback of women's muscle, like it used to be in the early years. (Post - on the forum whose first rule is... - by "achilleus", 15th April).

There were enough Bodybuilding girls [at FIBO] in the last few years. But not concentrated on one booth like this! (Reply by "Liesbeth", also 15th April).

Either way, and not being lucky/motivated enough to attend (ever) I'm in no position to judge the validity of either opinion, what's clear to both posters and to anyone who's seen even a fraction of the images that have gone up on social media and the forum boards in the past four or five days, there was some massive female muscle on show at this year's FIBO, and (as usual) we have Wings of Strength to thank for it.



Just before we indulge, what's interesting about the advertised line-up is the mix of the "usual suspects" (Alina, Helle etc.) with those who have, until now, not been so closely associated with WoS events - especially the Russian duo of Natalya Kovalyova and, even more noteworthy, Nataliya Kuznetsova, the Beast from the East herself.



Her appearance at the WoS booth has certainly got my imagination running wild. Is this the preliminary to Nataliya competing at a WoS show this year? Perhaps the Ms Wings International in Chicago, perhaps at one of the slated shows later in Europe in the autumn... As if we needed reminding, the sheer jaw-dropping scale of this woman is all too apparent in these pics from FIBO, whether she's standing next to a pro FBB muscle goddess or one of her many female fans. Now I can't help but imagine her on stage, glammed and tanned to a level we've not seen her at before. It's mind-boggling!



I also can't help but imagine her being taken on by Alina, trained as Alina has trained up Lisa Cross and Elena Oana Hreapca so successfully. Nataliya, glammed and tanned and trained to a level we've never seen her at before, those mighty muscles conditioned to a level where only one-handed typing is possible for all but the most stoic, most disciplined female muscle lovers for weeks after her (potential) show...



And it wasn't just the (bug-eyed) female muscle heads at FIBO who were drawn to her (there are plenty of pics with her dwarfing dudes, but that's not what you're here to see, is it?). Marina Lemenovskaya and last week's FMS Woman of the Week Slava Galagan dropped by and together they made a sort Russian dream triptych with Nataliya as the massive centrepiece. There's a lot of meat right there, with all three (hopefully) potential role models to Female Bodybuilders present and future.



Young and old(er) turned up and flexed for the camera with the WoS team. Jana Linke Sippl (still beefy, and I'd recognise those pokies anywhere!) and Jéssica Sestrem were just two caught flexing off with Lisa. So happy to have met you all - the strongest women on the planet, gushed Jéssica afterwards. Inspirational!



Along with everything else they do, WoS deserve a lot of credit for arranging for the stars of the sport to be at an event where they really get to feel like the stars they are.



And no doubt such get-togethers only enhance their sense of "iron sisterhood" as well.



Two of the newer women to come under WoS's er... wing here were Noelle Rockwell and Kristina Nicole Mendoza, who (if the pictures don't lie) appear to have bonded closer than most, apparently together from the start of the day through all the action at the WoS booth (and quite possibly) beyond, into the Köln night. Imagine running into these two at a restaurant/bar/club, squirming to hide your tentpole and gradually becoming aware every guy in the place is squirming just the same as you are...



What an incredible day today in Köln, said Noelle of her experience on day 1 of the Expo alone. Got to hang out with some seriously impressive Female Bodybuilders, and met thousands of people who came by the booth throughout the day. "Thousands"! See?! Celebrities I tell you! STARS! Everyone was was so nice and supportive! she added. Great to see the love and appreciation from our fans!



This is probably not the kind of feeling Noelle, or any of the other WoS crew, gets off people all the time. Times may have changed in terms of body ideals and the number of women weight training, but Female Bodybuilders capital F capital B are still freaks when they are out in the real world, with all the sniggers, tuts and outright nasty comments that entails. But here at FIBO, they were all able to feel the collective (and mutual) love. A great day with the greatest ladies in the world, as Jay put it.



And there are more great European female muscle days to come in 2018 than there have been in (almost) living memory. In May and at the start of June there is not one but two pro FBB events scheduled in Italy, and during the FIBO weekend, Alina was meeting up with those responsible for the Romania Muscle Fest in November.



Great days ahead, and by the looks of Lisa, great nights too.



I can't decide whether it's hotter if she's about to go out like this or she's about to welcome her first "special fan" for an encounter he (or she) will never ever forget...




Although having said that, encountering any FBB dressed anyhow, anytime, and anywhere is probably a pretty unforgettable experience. Finding nine or ten of the biggest and the best of them all at once must be... well, something like heaven.



So now am I motivated (and feeling lucky), ready to commit to FIBO 2019 and seek out the Wings of Strength booth - to get my little bit of heaven? YES!!! I'm raring to go. Can you book twelve months in advance? I think I'll book a table for four at Reef and Beef too (Nataliya is going to need at least two seats, by then maybe three... Better make it a table for six). But on the other hand, I wonder whether it might all be too much, too heavenly. Such a massive, mouth-watering, groin-activating overload of beef (female, not the beef at Reef and Beef). Could I take it? Could I be the meet in the meet-and-greet and survive with my dignity (and pounding heart) still intact?

The Year in Review: November/December

Found myself on compulsory temporary leave in November, which wasn't so bad - I needed a break. Rather upset about the identity of my replacement though, and the reprobate duly lived up to my expectations by stealing some of my notes to use as the theme of his most eloquent post. Most of the time November was about wanking to female muscle, as far as I can see. It is his declared hobby - I have a copy of his CV here - and the "friends" of his who also contributed seem to be into it just as much as he is.

We always had our tea around 6, so C. Moore whacked in a VHS around 5.55 and munched away on his fish fingers or whatever safe in the knowledge that later in the evening, once parents were safely tucked away in bed upstairs, he would be free to review, replay, rewind and frame advance at his leisure, with a pint of orange squash (fluids important, but that hardly qualifies as a top tip) and a box of mansize tissues.

It was a "moment", many many joy trumpets sounding out more or less simultaneously as the contest photos go up. For a day or two at any given time there is a Natalia tribute happening somewhere in the world. For a day or two we (maybe not all of us, but the vast majority) are all looking at the same body.

Some women achieve incredible contest glootage at maybe one or two shows in their competitive lives. Very few achieve it again and again in their career, and Cathy LeFrançois has arguably done it better than anyone for well over two decades.

And so we goon. Speaking becomes tricky. I would say we debated the various merits of these magnificent examples of womanly gloothood, but you hardly call my bud yelling "Zoa is FERRRRRRM bruvva!" and me yelling "Yeah but Michaela is HAAAAAAARD dude!" a debate as such, but the sheer physical pleasure (expressed in moans, in gasps, in animal yelps and bellows) flows through our bodies with beautiful intensity, and sharing the feeling takes it to a whole new level of ecstasy.

Minions also say she's fast-becoming a forum favourite over at the place where men pretend to be women in the chat room. Whatever.

Horizontal, lateral and vertical size. C. Moore has measured a few pairs of cheeks with my special virtual measuring tool, and trust me, Heather's glootz went both wider, deeper, higher and further out than any before or since. MASSIVE meat.

NPC NATIONALS 2017

Swell returned for our annual review of the Nationals. It was good to be back.



Once again the Overall Bodybuilding champion came from outside the Heavyweight class. Fallon Brinson was a Physique competitor this time last year, and will be a Physique competitor next year, but by becoming a Light-heavyweight Bodybuilder for a day, she was able to earn her pro card. Switching up for the one show was the smart move. Fallon only had to beat one other Light-Heavyweight to get to the Overall posedown, and was one of a total of just 16 women in the Bodybuilding classes, compared to the 44 potential rivals she would have faced in Physique.




In the Figure division, we especially enjoyed phenoms Martina Harris (Overall winner); Capucine Leconte (Class "A" winner); Kessia Mirellys (Class "A" runner-up); and Debi Laszewski's girl, Brittany Miller (runner-up in the "D" class).



It was long overdue, so even if she would never have beaten her former self, news that Jennifer Kennedy - one of the best-reviewed of those FBBs who like to get up-close and personal with their fans - had been awarded her pro card was most welcome.



Kristina Nicole Mendoza and Carla Maria Bradley were our Beautiful Beasts from the Heavyweight Bodybuilding class. Inexplicably, neither made the top 3.




The standout division was, as always seems to be the case at these national level shows now, the Physique division. Far too many gorgeous, muscle sexy women to mention all of them - but the cream of the cream included Lauren Hanford - who had only decided to compete for the first time 17 weeks previously; Ashley Fuller with "a bit of the Susan-Marie Smith vibe about her"; the "must have been mighty close to taking the Overall" Rachael Chaskey; and Lisa Luettinger and her quads.

And finally, for that week, and for our look back at 2017 - Jacquelyn Hickerson.



She f***ing ruled! Happily, this was one of those all too rare occasions when the judges and my loins were in full agreement about the outcome. And obviously Jacquelyn felt like the right woman was going home with the trophy as well.
