Arnold Classic 2017: FBBUK

imagebam.com

It's pretty rare to see just one British female in the line-ups at the Arnolds, so the fact that this year there were three women - two of them amateur - who made the trip to Columbus to fly the flag for the United Kingdom would be reason enough to celebrate.

Let's find out how they got on, shall we?

GERALDINE MORGAN
Arnold Classic: Physique International, unplaced

This time last year we were surprised and delighted to find out that the lovely Geraldine was now competing as a Brit. It was a positive immigration story that now we can categorically say had little effect on the outcome of a certain referendum.

Of course despite the very British-sounding name, Geraldine is originally from Chile, but here, once again, she was the lone woman in the Arnold Classic who was listed as representing the UK. We'll take that. Or at least I bloody will. If the scorecard says Geraldine's British, then as far as I'm concerned, she's as British as Prince Phillip.

Especially when she looks like this in prep!

11th last year, Geraldine was slightly miffed at her non-placing this time around. I lost 5kg since my last show, and worked SO hard on so many details, she said afterwards. Happy with my work, sad about the result. They said they're looking for symmetry, harmony, definition and muscularity. as they said. Too bad I didn't qualify.

You can follow the self-proclaimed "Vikinga" on her Instagram as she goes about her mission to "help the world to push beyond through unconventional teaching".

KATALIN JASZTRAB
Arnold Amateur: Bodyfitness up to 170cm, 3rd; Master Bodyfitness over 168cm, 2nd

More medals for this former Playboy model (hard to believe, I know) and former Hungarian (oh yes, another positive UK immigration story) to add to the silver she won when FMS first met her at the Arnold Classic Europe in October last year.

I reckon that makes Katalin the UK's most successful current amateur Bodyfitness goddess, and with those looks and those legs and those long, lean muscles I don't see any reason why she shouldn't get even more successful in the very near future.

KATE ERRINGTON
Arnold Amateur: Fitness, WINNER!

We also met Kate for the first time at the Arnold Europe last year, and found her to be extremely easy one the eye. Her 6th place there little suggested that within six months we would be celebrating her for pulling off that rarest of achievements - a British female winning at the Arnolds in the US - but that is exactly what we're doing.

imagebam.com

Granted, she only had to beat two other women to win the crown, but you still have to win it, and after "a perfect Figure round" and her "new Popeye routine going down well", Kate was proclaimed champion, got to meet Arnie (real and statue), the whole bit.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

I think I'm right in saying that the win also means she's an IFBB pro now. And to think, it was only last year that she made the move out of the Bikini class and into Fitness.

AND Kate happens to be a burlesque performer too. You may like to investigate Friday nights at MuMus Restaurant, Cocktail Bar & Nightclub near Maidstone in Kent.

Ooo I say Ms Errington!

Arnolds 2016 Review: British?!

The sizzling Geraldine Morgan once again turned up at a pro show, dazzled with her beauty and finished way down in the placings. Well, she finished tied 11th anyway.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

But while I never need an excuse to post something about Geraldine, it didn't escape my attention that she was listed as competing for the United Kingdom on the official scorecards.

Geraldine is, apparently, British now. UKIPs take note. Immigration is GOOD.

And sometimes, it's GREAT.

Backstage of the Day

Backstage with the Best

Geraldine Morgan
imagebam.com
Looking as gorgeous as ever, Geraldine is surrounded by a serious female muscle meat fest. How do these photographers manage to keep such steady hands?

Colette Nelson and Cathy Le François
imagebam.com imagebam.com
More gorgeous top-class female muscle. Beautiful Colette has certainly caught the eye of the photographer on the right in the background, and who can blame him for checking her out? And is wide-eyed Cathy feeling the rush of being admired, the thrill of being an object of desire? I certainly like to think so.

Brigita Brezovac
imagebam.com
The backstage area has been variously described in accounts I've read as a cauldron of bitchy comments, as having a serious and tense atmmosphere, and also as being a place of great camaraderie and mutual support. What to believe? Maybe it depends on the show, maybe it depends on the level of competition. But with beautiful Brigita lighting up this backstage area with her smile, it's hard to believe it isn't the most wonderful place in the world.

Dayana Cadeau

What a loss it was to female bodybuilding when she decided to move down to Physique a couple of years ago. Now she looks like a shadow of her former self, so it's good to remember what a spectacular sight she was in her pomp. Glistening, hard muscle, wondrous eyes and lips that bring all sorts of impure thoughts into your head (well, into my head anyway). And so close you can almost smell the oil.

I think I need a lie-down.

Your backstage pass expires tomorrow.

I'd like to say...

imagebam.com
First off, I'd like to say that I'm as unhappy as anyone that it's been all quiet on the Female Muscle Slave front since the start of the Olympics...

imagebam.com imagebam.com
I'd like to say that the lack of activity here has caused some women to take the initiative and start sending me their photos, begging me to post them. I'd like to say I've been playing it cool and demanding ever more revealing pics from them, refusing to update the blog in the meantime, threatening never to update again unless they play ball and send in those sexy snaps...

imagebam.com
I'd like to say that the reason for my silence is that I've been spending a lot of time with Gina Stone. I'd like to say that Gina has been using me as her wardrobe adviser, putting on outfit after outfit for my approval as part of her search for the perfect white vest and the ultimate pair of mini-shorts...

imagebam.com imagebam.com
I'd like to say that I've been in the middle of a tug-of-love-war between Virginia Sanchez Masias and Geraldine Morgan, both of whom have been so impressed by the cut of my jib that they have fallen head over heels in love with me and I have spent the last month or so travelling between Spain and the USA. I'd like to say that at first I was resolved to choosing between them, but thought of a better idea and so have dedicated the more recent visits to trying to persuade them, with some success, that they will just have to share me...

imagebam.com
I'd like to say that I've been on a Caribbean island with Tina Chandler and Zoa Linsey, who employed my services as a suncream applicator after I beat hundreds of other applicants during a rigorous interview process. I'd like to say that by the end of the holiday I was doing so much more for the ladies than merely applying suncream, and that they've already booked me for a two-week break in a remote Alpine chalet over the New Year...

Unfortunately, apart from the fact that not being able to update has been frustrating, none of the above is true. Now, I know that may come as a shock, but the real reason is too mundane to be of any interest. Let's just say real life-type stuff has been a bit full-on in the last few weeks.

There, told you you wouldn't be interested.

But I really would like to say a massive massive thank you to all of you who have got in touch during the downtime, whether it was to ask after the future of the blog, or vote in the Fantasy Contest poll.

So here is a massive massive thank you, courtesy of the massive massive Fabiola.
imagebam.com imagebam.com

On the plus side, taking a break from the blog has left me with plenty to say, and a backlog of images with which to entertain your female-muscle-lovin' eyes. There will be a post every day, though don't get too excited, I'm only committing to at least one image every twenty-four hours!

imagebam.com imagebam.com
There will be a weekly theme to the daily images - it could be a spotlight on a particular lady or item of clothing or genre of pic etc etc. It could be Stuck In A Lift With... or Fishnet Week (see above). This week it's Alina Popa.

So, apologies to everyone who has been checking in here only to find nothing new, and thank you so much to those who have taken the extra step of getting in touch. It's really gratifying to know that there are readers out there who have actually missed the blog as much as I've missed updating it.

But not as quite as gratifying as discovering Holland Canter...

Woof!

Enjoy and stay tuned!

Faces

You may remember seeing Martin Schoeller’s portraits of top female bodybuilders around four years ago when they were first exhibited. Now they have resurfaced again in the UK media.

Schoeller says, With Female Bodybuilders [the book], I am trying to show the vulnerability that I see and feel in the subjects when I am with them, to get to the complex emotions behind a mask of extreme physical expression. These women mirror our modern cultural hunger for size, aggression, and attention at any cost. We are in the age of Bigness.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

Art it may be, but these pictures are not doing female bodybuilding any favours. The women stare blankly back at the viewer, one of Schoeller’s hallmarks, and the fact that they are in contest shape and look drawn and exhausted is accentuated by another of his hallmarks, harsh, unforgiving light.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

Hardly a representation of female muscle that is going to win over the sceptics. Don’t blame the photographer, he has his own aims. But, as a Schoeller antidote, Female Muscle Slave would like to present other portraits and self-portraits of muscular women.

And I can be arty too, you know.

Slave says, My aim was to show how female muscle and beauty are not mutually exclusive, even in mainstream terms, and have juxtaposed the beauty of the women with the negative comments from articles on the Schoeller photos to demonstrate the falsehood of preconceptions about women with muscles being unattractive and masculine.
