Tales of the Towel: Special K

Katrin Kirsch

imagebam.com

Featured on FMS in 2013 for her "bullets", Katrin had fallen off the radar rather then, and hasn't returned. Still, this (for her) rather modest pic is worth looking at again if only to remind us the hand she's using to keep the towel up is entirely superfluous.

Kortney Olson

imagebam.com

The CEO of GRRRL clothing captures herself in a rare moment of relaxation and an even rarer moment when she's not dressed in one of her own products, although she's practising what she preaches nonetheless. Not many CEOs you can say that about.

Heidi Krochter, Natalya Kuzmina

Heidi has been somewhat less talked about on the forums this year than last, though why that should be exactly is a bit of a mystery to me. This year she's not (as far as I know) competed, but she has done a terrific photoshoot with ace lensman Gene X. Hwang, and the rest of the time she's just kept on being the Heidi we adored last year. We might look at the raised eyebrow and imagine she's letting us know that she knows what we really want to see is below the bottom of the picture, but we're way off - unsurprisingly that's not what it's about at all (see the post on her IG for details).

imagebam.com imagebam.com

And while we're acknowledging that appearances can be deceptive, would you have guessed (if you didn't know) from this sauna(?) shot that Natalya is not so much a Bodybuilder as a powerlifter? And of some note, too. If your goal, for example, is to deadlift, say 100kg (220lbs) at some point - a fine ambition - then consider that this beautiful young lady from Kazakhstan deadlifts 215+kg (474+lbs). For reps.

Katka Kyptova

imagebam.com imagebam.com

And our last, but by no means least, Special K is, according to our (hardly exhaustive) research, the woman who takes and posts more towel-clad selfies than any other.

imagebam.com

Forensic Katka-watchers will be able to time and date these with some precision based on hairdo, muscularity, ink coverage, and, I dare say, a multitude of other factors. The layman could care less. The layman's doing what I'm doing right after I finish compiling this post. The layman is only concerned with a happy ending, and this week's posts are going to get one - the last photo on the right, in my case. What divine definition!

If you've anything left in the tank afterwards, perhaps you'd like to check out a rar of 25 images that didn't quite make the edit this week. You would? Great! It's here. Enjoy!

She's So Shredded: Heidi Krochter

imagebam.com

Been feeling like a superhero lately, says Canada's Heidi Krochter, looking every inch like, er, yeah, like she's pretty damn super. "Lately" has been the aftermath of her appearance at the Canadian Nationals, where she finished 7th in her class.

imagebam.com

Lucky indeed is the country whose 7th best-in-class Physique lady looks like this!

imagebam.com imagebam.com

Heidi - it's "KrocKter" by the way, not "KroCHter" - has been getting rave reviews on the forum boards for some time now. Her progress from circa 2014 through last year (when she became champion of British Columbia) to this year's preparation for the CBBF Physique Nationals has been nothing short of remarkable.

imagebam.com imagebam.com
imagebam.com imagebam.com

And she's not been difficult to follow. Her Instagram is, to say the least, busy. And on top of that, her YouTube channel has been charting her progress for over a year, with the "Road to the Nationals" series from the last couple of months filling fan's screens with Heidi's vlogs, workout clips, and hilarious Bodybuilding rants.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

She is, without question, not shy about "putting herself out there" as they say. And I think part of her appeal to her fans is the fact that the bigger she's got, the more unapologetic she's become. She's never come across as what you'd call shy, but it seems like her infectious personality has come bursting out of her in much the same way as her big, vascular muscles threaten to burst through her workout tops.

imagebam.com

She's not the most conventionally beautiful woman in Bodybuilding (some "fans" have taken this to mean it's OK for them to show that the percentage of eejits in the female muscle lovin' world is around the same as there are in the world) but I think the fact that she very much has her own unique beauty is another big part of her appeal.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

But just as I'm about to fall over the edge of over-analysing why the 7th best-in-class Canadian Physique competitor has got herself so adored, I'll step right back from intellectualising and acknowledge that while her attitude and beauty are important, by far the biggest reason why we all love Heidi is that body, those muscles.

imagebam.com

Fantastic! This physique beats anything I've seen in a long time, one particularly taken fan comments. We love her "V", we love her legs, and because of her penchant for posting post-workout most musculars, we love her bulging, vascular arms, her massive round shoulder balls, and especially that chest - we really love her chest.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

My off-season will not be one to be played around with, she says, so don't expect Heidi to be competing anytime soon. Instead, she's already planning her assault on her nationals championships next year. I can see all the areas that need improving, so it's back to the drawing boards for me. I already know what it is I need to work on and improve. The next Nationals will be even more exciting.

imagebam.com

Heidi is already, as one fan puts it, "so beautiful, so sexy, and so built", it'll be a joy indeed to follow this amazing woman through that off-season. And far beyond.

A Theme with No Name: More Than A Feeling?

Just over a week ago, pdgde - one of FMS' favourite Tumblr blogs, one of the very few other blogs we have previously flagged up here - disappeared completely. There were rumours, accusations of shenanigans, and of a shadowy FBB-hating demon who had taken down our hero and a year and a half's worth of posting.

Within what seemed like a few hours though, pdgde2 had been born. I’m baaaaaaaaaack!!! he exclaimed - in about his tenth post, talk about getting your priorities right! "Bodies" had been the one-word description he used for his former blog, "Huge f*cking fbbs" was the title of the new. And he's been as busy as ever, loading up his er, new archive with exactly what he boldly promises on the tin.

Why am I telling you this?

Well, mainly so you visit his blog - check this post out, for example.

As well as that though, I wanted to credit him with helping me out in defining, well, sort of defining, this week's theme on FMS. I'm not about to tread on his big girl territory, but the problem is I can't tell you what this week's theme is, but I can show you. And one of pdgde's very first posts on his new blog turned out to be absolutely perfect.

So, what is this week's theme?

Well, it's a bit of this...

Julianne Trebing in full prep

And definitely a bit of this, as well.

imagebam.com
Asha: fully pumped

And there is a little bit of this, too.

Yes, indeed!

But it's also these. And, next to them, THAT!

imagebam.com imagebam.com
Shanique Grant's vascular thighs, and Heidi Krochter feels it

And it's the final image that pdgde provided me with, and perhaps it's the one that captures what this week is all about best of all.

It's unapologetic, it's in your face (sadly not literally). It's sexy, it's pumped, it's freaky and unfortunately it's not something I have been able to find a way of describing in a single word or phrase. Pdgde's title for his first (now gone) blog was "Passion FBB", and that is probably as close as I can get to it. It's not a thing, you see, it's a feeling.

And yet it's more than a feeling...
