FMS picks a few of our favourite YouTube clips so far from March in the latest chapter of our (pleasingly both popular and) regular muscle in motion fest: Tube Watch.
CROSSFIT®
If Crossfit is your thing, then you have probably been a very happy bunny in the last few weeks or so, as the lady stars of the sport (ie. the real stars of the sport) have been all over the CrossFit® channel doing their Open workouts. Quite frankly, it can be a bit manic for an old female muscle head like me. Nevertheless, watching any of Iceland's "dottirs" really going at it can be an undeniably breathtaking experience, as I believe our pick of the March bunch so far aptly demonstrates. Over to you Katrin...
Phew!
For Your Consideration
If you prefer to drink in your female muscle, you might well enjoy almost nine minutes of Sandra Grajales Romero, recently in the Hot and Hard 100 Top 30 for the first time, filmed during a photoshoot for Tora Brasil. Sandra models a few different (but all equally skintight) outfits in a gym, and stills from the shoot are intercut with the footage. A less time-consuming four-minute "Making of..." edit is also available.
I WAS PRETTY EXCITED...
Please excuse the camera work, writes femcepsfan in his description of one of two clips of gorgeous Julia Föry guest posing at the 2017 IFBB Battle of Champions to appear on his channel this month. I was pretty excited, that's why it's a bit shaky.
Totally understandable. And I think he did a sterling job. Had I been the cameraman, I doubt the footage would have been watchable at all. Anyway, harsher critics than I might like to view the other, less shaky, version of Julia strutting her jawtastic stuff.
For Your Consideration
Yes, yes, you don't follow Figure, I know, BUT... perhaps you would just like to remind yourself why with a little clip of the Figure International ladies backstage at this year's Arnold Classic. Eventual winner Candice Lewis-Carter's just perfect abs after about half a minute are just one of the many highlights. I personally reckon Ivana Ivusic's fully pumped and apparently HUGE arms (@1.03 on) are most likely to stop you saying that "I don't follow..." bit any longer, but I could be wrong.
STRAIGHT UP MUSCLE SEXY
Pick of the month so far though has got to be Episode 2 of Vanessa Naesheim's Straight Up series, which will follow her prep for this year's IFBB New York Pro.
Catch up with Episode 1 here. The mouth waters (among other things) at the prospect of the episodes to come. Don't miss a thing by subscribing to Vanessa's channel.
Enjoy!

Champion of the Day: Katrín Tanja Davíðsdóttir
Crossfit Games Fittest on Earth
The winner of the 2015 Crossfit Games is once again the Fittest on Earth in 2016. Katrin became only the second woman to win the Games two years in a row (her compatriot Annie Thorisdottir in 2011-12 was the first). In fact, the top four, Katrin, Australia's Tia-Clair Toomey, fellow Icelander Sara Sigmundsdottir, and Britain's Samantha Briggs (in that order), all took the same places they had in 2015.
It still seems kind of unreal, she told Men's Fitness soon after she'd completed her triumph. It still seems crazy that it's actually over. I was going to be happy with the weekend regardless of the outcome, but the win is such a big bonus. Indeed. Katrin pockets a winner's cheque for a cool $275,000 plus about $13,000 in performance bonuses! But of course it's not about the money. Her prize also, rather controversially, included a gun donated by one of the Games' sponsors. Really. She won a handgun, and apparently they are going to allow her back into Iceland with it.
Anyway, back to our champion. Enjoyed every second out there, she told her Instagram followers. And if the pictures are anything to go by, she really did.
You may remember that at the Games the individual events aren't announced until just before the competition starts. Each Games is therefore unique, and athletes have to prepare for pretty much anything from ocean swimming and rope climbs to handstand walks and whatever "The Separator" is. To win last year, and then to win again after a different set of twelve events is, I think you'll agree, quite an achievement.
So, what's her secret? I strive to be excellent, she says. I strive to excel at anything that I do. I take care of every single percent that I can take care of. I do that. I make sure I sleep enough. I make sure I eat perfect. I make sure I warm up well. I make sure that I lift well. I make sure that I give everything that I have to every workout. I want to constantly become solidly better than how I woke up.
She's not the worst advert they could have for the sport, is she?

Til hamingju Katrin!

CrossFit Games
Fittest on Earth
Nope - still can't believe it. WHAT an incredible week - Fittest on EARTH.
Best moment of my life. It truly means the world to me.
After the first few events Australia's Kara Webb held the lead, and thereafter Katrin's compatriot Sara Sigmundsdottir led until late on the final day. As Sigmundsdottir faltered, Katrin stepped up to take the lead going into the last event. She won it, and with it the title of "Fittest on Earth" at her third Games.
Sigmundsdottir had to be content with 3rd, and with Australia's Tia-Clair Toomey a surprise second, it means the top three women this year are all aged 22. Maybe a changing of the guard? suggests Aiden, our CrossFit oracle. Athletes coming into the sport younger and maybe focusing purely on CrossFit from a young age?
And why wouldn't they? Along with her trophy, the former gymnast and Olympic weightlifter pocketed a cheque for $275,000, although I doubt very much that was what drove her on as she sprinted towards the finish line in the final event.

Find out what Katrin does next on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
All the Games you'll ever want are on the Games website and YouTube channel.
Enjoy! And thanks to Aiden, as always, for his expertise.
