Hope you enjoyed this week of sPECtacular images. And if you insPECt the posts, I think you will find I have been imPECcable at not making a sPECtacle of myself by using lots of words with 'pec' in them. I'm esPECially proud of that. And at the risk of being disresPECtful, I think it is sPECifically the single most annoying asPECt of any forum or blog post on the subject, and makes me sPECulate about the poster until I susPECt that they have no more intelligence than the average woodPECker.

Proud to Be British (Again)
Leslie Ann Armstrong won the NABBA Worlds back in June (see July 2012 post ), and British female muscle lovers were humming along to the national anthem again this weekend, as Rene Campbell walked away with the top prize at the IFBB World Championships, winning both her class and the overall title.
Back at the start of September, Rene told us via her blog that there is a lot that I have planned in terms of tweaking my diet and training in the last 4 weeks in the run up to the Worlds. I wasn't happy with what I presented at the Women's European Championships in Croatia which was the last show I competed in, and was my European circuit debut. I plan to present an improved package all round.
And she was certainly true to her word, totally outclassing the competition in only her second international show, and proving she has the right stuff to compete at the highest level.
Champagne was popping at the FMS office as soon as the result came through. She’s a lady whose career we have been following closely, and her obvious dedication and cool, classy demeanour make her the perfect ambassador for the UK in the world of female bodybuilding.
From her Twitter page yesterday: I can’t actually believe this... I won the over 55kg & overall class. I'm so proud the UK national anthem was finally played!
Er… ‘finally’? I imagine the world is pretty sick of the anthem, it’s been played so much this year! [maybe she means ‘finally for her’, give her a break for Gina’s sake, she was excited, proud and probably rather dehydrated and a little cramped up – ed.]
See Rene this week at the Arnold Classic Europe in Madrid, but although she is definitely attending she may not actually compete. It wouldn’t be surprising if she now decided she was happy enough with her achievements this year and just took a break in the Spanish capital. A well-deserved break indeed.
Many many congratulations Rene, and if you don’t compete in Madrid, enjoy the coffee!
Meanwhile, Rene fans will be pleased to know she has expanded her online activities: There are some very sexy clips being edited and will be on my website soon. And speaking of my website, I have launched an "online store" section as part of the website. You can now purchase downloadable photo sets, downloadable video clips, autographed photo prints and in the not too distant future, my 2013 calendar. I will be adding more photo sets and video clips to the store once they have been edited. So please check out the online store.
Check out her website, blog, and online store, and follow Rene on Twitter.

Size Matters: Extra
As The Dude says in The Big Lebowski, New shit has come to light. And as you may not be party to the new shit, FMS believes it is his duty to pass it on. The new shit concerns two of the women who featured in Size Matters week, Britain's reigning Queen, Rene Campbell, who had a whole post of her own, and the legend that is Christine Envall, who featured as one of the Super Freaks.
Rene Campbell has been flying the flag for Team GB recently at the European Bodybuilding Championships in Croatia, so FMS wishes to pass on their congratulations to her for finishing a creditable 3rd in the over 55kg class.
Now, a lot of comments have been made (by fans, not Rene) that she only finished 3rd, despite being the biggest woman on the stage. 'It's Bev Francis all over again' or 'It's a Euro-conspiracy against all things British' etc etc. But, as FMS has pointed out before, the subjectivity of bodybuilding judging (especially, it seems, female bodybuilding judging) means that there are always going to be controversial results at contests, and it's really not worth getting worked up about.
She was the biggest woman on that stage. We know that, she knows that, and the judges knew that too, and the fact that most fans are talking about Rene rather than the competitors who finished higher is, I think, in itself going to pay dividends for her career-wise. There will be other competitions at other times in other places where the judges will see her size as an advantage and place her higher. Her moment will undoubtedly come. Until then, we have some wonderful shots of Rene in the competition to console ourselves with.
And so to Christine Envall. If you haven't heard - she's back! And judging by the pics, she hasn't come back as a toned down version of her former self. If anything, she looks even thicker than she did at her peak. Super-duper freaky! Marvel at the muscularity and striations in her hamstrings and glutes.
Christine says, I started to get the bug again around October 2010 after attending a few of the local shows and we’ve slowly ramped the training up to see how my body would respond. My return to competition will be at the 2012 Europa Battle of Champions in Hartford, Conneticut on June 29 & 30, followed by the 2012 Wings of Strength in Chicago a week later.

The legends like Yaxeni, Mah Ann Mendoza and Heather Foster helped motivate me to compete again. These women are a few years older than I am and they have competed continuously while I’ve been retired. As far as the Ms Olympia, that would be a dream come true, but I’d say it’s a way down the track. Only 1st place qualifies for the Ms Olympia from this year, making it a tough achievement. I plan on spending the next couple of years getting ‘known’ again, then who knows what can happen...
Welcome back Christine. I didn't know how much I'd missed you until I saw you again!

Size Matters: Rene Campbell
Rene Campbell: loves Greek Gods, resembles an Amazon Goddess
Size matters to the current UKBFF Champion Rene Campbell. She is, by her own admission, a woman who wants to get as big as she possibly can, coining the phrase ‘bigorexic’ to describe her obsession in an interview with the British ‘newspaper’ The Sun back at the end of January this year. I look at 20-stone guys in the gym and think, ‘I want to be that big’. I love the muscular aesthetic - looking like a Greek God. It’s a form of art, she says.
A worthy British champ
A former triathlete and long-distance runner, Rene has been bodybuilding competitively since 2008, when she won her first show, the NPA South-East. At that point she says she was bitten by the bug. Since then, she has had consistent success on the stage, culminating in her first British title last year. And she certainly has no plans to quit, and clearly loves the skin she’s in, saying I can’t ever imagine being thin again - I’m so much happier this way.
Imagine walking into the gym and seeing a rear view like this! Would you walk right out again for a bit of secret toilet time? It might be better to keep your cool and see if you can strike up a conversation, because the good news for British female muscle fans in the south-east of England is… Rene Campbell is single!
It’s hard for an admirer like myself to believe, but according to a report in April in another British ‘newspaper’ The Daily Mail, Rene is looking for a boyfriend who could cheer me on at competitions and cook chicken for me. Well, Rene, unfortunately I’m taken, but I’m sure that there are more than a few of my readers who could do that and perhaps a little more besides.
Needless to say, as the story was published in the mainstream media, some downright rude comments were made about Rene and her physique, but she doesn’t seem to be the kind of person who’s going to be bothered by that, so I don’t think we should be either. However, there were a good number of supportive comments too, not just from guys like you and me, but also people just pointing out that even though they don’t actually find her attractive, what she’s achieved has taken a lot of dedication and hard work and that nobody should tell anybody how to look.
And once the story had hit the female muscle fan forums, trains to Brighton were suddenly noticeably more crowded, and an unusually high number of questions were being asked at the local Tourist Information office about Forest Gym…
I was delighted to find this report on Rene from the German broadcaster RTL even though my German is virtually non-existent, because I LOVE clips where female bodybuilders parade themselves in public.
The guys representing the ‘public’ in this clip are pretty annoying (even in a language I don’t understand!) but I have always fantasised about strolling through town with a female bodybuilder, soaking up the reactions of people suddenly confronted by a woman who so blatantly defies conventional notions of femininity. Most women worry (too much in my opinion) what other women think of them, but female bodybuilders have no such insecurity. This may be the main reason I find women with muscle attractive, this self-confidence, this subversion of the norm. And the bigger the woman, the bigger the subversion, the bigger my attraction.
Recent pics of Rene bigger, more vascular, more pumped than ever. Making good on her promise to continue her quest for size. The finest British female muscle beef on the market.
Follow Rene on her website, or on Twitter

And support British female bodybuilding!
Her obvious dedication to the sport of female bodybuilding (not fitness, not bikini, but bodybuilding), and her passion for sculpting her body through pumping iron is clear. Female Muscle Slave’s admiration for this wonderful woman and her magnificent, British-made body just keeps growing and growing.
If this picture doesn't do it for you, you are definitely in the wrong place!
And remember, there’s a guy out there right now who will sooner or later be the one who’s going to make Rene happy, and maybe he doesn’t even know it yet, but he’s a lucky lucky man!
