On the Beach...

...with Priscila and Lisa

Priscila Collins
imagebam.com imagebam.com
Yet another beautiful Brazilian body on the beach, you can follow Priscila (one 'l' is, apparently the correct spelling) on her Twitter or her Instagram, although she is somewhat less muscular now, and there's been some facial surgery, which is a shame, I think, because in these shots it's hard to see what wasn't perfect about her.

Lisa Carrodus

Stunning natural beauty. And some cracking scenery too. Follow Lisa on Twitter and you'll not only get news of what she's up to, but also of the UK wrestling scene. Bonus!

Enjoy!

On the Beach...

...with their coconuts!

Claudete Santana
imagebam.com imagebam.com
Claudete likes her milk fresh from the tree. It's the only way to take it, she told FMS as she sucked up the protein rich juice while strutting up and down the beach. The sight of her tight muscular Brazilian body in that teeny weeny bikini meant the paramedics were kept busy that day, not least attempting to resuscitate our own correspondent.

Denise Masino

Denise, who turned 46 on 1st May, prefers to break coconuts on her granite bicep peaks before gorging herself on the bounty of sweet flesh within. Did you know the coconut's edible flesh is called the 'endosperm'? she asks. Well, Denise, we do now.

On the Beach...

...with Cyd & Kash

You have to admire the dedication. Even beside the seaside there's no relaxing for Cydney Gillon and her impressive shoulders. Thanks to Cyd's glute message, we don't have to complain that we don't know where this beach is. Go girl!
imagebam.com imagebam.com
Burying Kashma in the sand while she was having a doze seemed like a good idea at the time, just a bit of fun. But now she's finally dug herself out she's all pissed off. If that dude doesn't get away quick, he might find himself buried in the sand - head first.

On the Beach...

Funnily enough, I will, with a bit of luck, actually be on a beach by the time you read this. Yes, Swell is taking a short, well-earned break with his wife (and yes, in case you were wondering, she has been doing her lifting like a champ - but I'll tell you all about that when I get back). Whether it was the anticipation of feeling the sand beneath my feet, I couldn't say, but when I thought about what to schedule for the blog while I was away, some sexy female muscle on the beach immediately sprang to mind!

Down in Rio, Eva and Roberta are wondering when I'm arriving...

imagebam.com

I'm not expecting to see any physiques as magnificent and muscular as our selections today on my beach (more's the pity, the wife might take inspiration from them!), but rest assured I'll be keeping the female muscle radar fully on [is there an OFF switch on that thing?! - ed.] and any sightings I do get will be reported thoroughly.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

imagebam.com imagebam.com

Where all these female muscle beaches are remains a mystery. But I'm going to keep looking. Somewhere out there there's a beach with absolutely nobody on it except Anne Dudash and Susanna Hand, both wondering where all the female muscle heads are when you need to get some lotion on. Where is this somewhere?

And on another beach, Holly Chambliss is holding a sun lounger for me...

Tube of the Week

To finish this week of non-stop self-admiration and on stage female muscle ecstasy, I shall, if I may, take you briefly back to the days when posing suits were a lot smaller and more revealing (I'm sure I'm not the only one who has noticed that).

These were days when routines lasted longer than sixty seconds, days when female bodybuilders really seemed to "express themselves" in competition.

And thanks to timossman911's channel, we have two clips which, though lacking in the kind of crystal clear quality we now expect as standard, are nevertheless beautiful examples of what happens when an inspired editor goes to work on a couple of the most spectacular female chests ever to grace the sport.

First up, Gillian Hodge and a posing suit that doesn't seem to want to be there.

And if you can take any more, we'll end the week with Adrienne Foster.

Enjoy!

The Look of Love: Biceps

Not all biceps are loved...

imagebam.com imagebam.com
imagebam.com imagebam.com

Just today, I received an email from one of my boot campers stating that she was concerned about her increased arm size. She said that since February when she started taking classes from me, that her arms have gotten bigger and other women have commented on it. They've said, "Your arms look stronger".

She said that when she looks down at her arm when it's hanging by her side, that she can see a "bump" above the bend in her elbow (meaning she can see her bicep even when her arm is straight). And, in her opinion, that looks undesirable.

She told me she was upset that she put on weight since starting weightlifting in boot camp, but her clothes all still fit the same. Then, when I probed into this comment, she admitted that her arms were too "muscle-y", and that was the real issue.

I really want a visible bicep vein back! Some women don't like having visible veins in their arms, but I do! I want to walk around with it showing all the time, lol!

I have to wear men's shirts because when I wear women's shirts, my biceps swell and buldge against the sleeves. I just hide them because so many people think that's gross on a woman, but I like how they look and feel. I like like feeling them buldging against the fabric, but to avoid being judged, I keep them well hidden when in public.

Every time I look in the mirror at myself I am shocked by my arms. I have really veiny hands and forearms and manlike muscles. Not very feminine. Toss in the farmers tan and I'm quite the freak. But my friend spends tons of money on personal training to get half the results I have from riding and working around the barn.

When I hear women bemoan the way their bodies pack on muscle, I can’t help but feel a bit envious. To me, it’s like hearing someone say they hate running because they are just so fast, or they don’t like to write because they might accidentally win a Pulitzer Prize. Their worst fear is one of my most fervent desires.

Listen, ladies who bulk up – your bodies are telling you something. Your bodies are saying, We want to be strong, we want to be muscular, we want to be ripped! If your body puts on muscle this easily, it’s because your body wants to be muscular. If your body thought muscle was a bad thing, it wouldn't build it so easily.

But you know what does think a woman with muscle is a bad thing? Our culture. Our culture has a big, big problem with women who are physically strong. Our culture says women who are physically strong are manly and unattractive and ugly. Our culture says women ought to be in need of protection from husbands, fathers, boyfriends. Our culture says women ought to be vulnerable to harm at all times, because if we were not, why would we need male protection?

Remember this next time you hate on your body’s innate ability to easily pack on muscle. Your capability for physical strength is immense. Do not take it lightly. Do not dismiss it. Please recognize it for the gift that it is.

I LOVE HOW I LOOK NAKED! I wish I could spend more time being naked! I truly am happy with seeing my body progress and get stronger! I love my arms.

Ever since I started taking ballet my biceps seem to be getting way too big! All of my muscles are of course getting stronger, and that's great, but when my arms are in fifth they're starting to look masculine! Is it possible that I'm doing something wrong?

Thursday is chest and bicep day so I am getting ready to pump up these 18-inch arms real good! I love it when the veins are so full and my skin feels like it will rip over my muscle! I love wearing an outfit to inspire my hard workouts and that does mean tight, little and sexy. I love feeling sexy while I make a fool of the weights :)

Karen's XTC

In the course of putting together The Agony & the Ecstasy, FMS came across an image that so perfectly illustrates our point that we felt compelled to give it its own post.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

The woman is Karen Smith. We know she is Canadian, and thanks to the all-knowing Muscle Memory, we were able to establish that it was taken during her routine at the Canadian Nationals in 1995. Karen was crowned the lightweight champion.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

We know that in the same year she competed at the NPC North American Championships and finished 5th as a middleweight. She also appeared in WPW around that time. What happened after 1995 to Karen Smith, nobody seems to know.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

If it's a biography of Karen Smith you're after, sorry to disappoint you. But, thanks to Karen and the photographer responsible, what we do have is a snapshot of her on stage that epitomises our pet theory (of the week!). It's so perfect, in fact, that if we had to give the photo a title, it'd be something like "The Ecstasy of the Female Bodybuilder".

Take a good long look for yourself.

imagebam.com

There's no rush... Muscular beauty like this needs time to be appreciated. Her left shoulder (right as you look) curves out so beautifully, the muscle full and pumped. The pose ripples through her left pec muscle (right as you look), and what a joy her old school nothing-but-muscle chest is to behold! Look at the tendon at the top of her thigh, so pronounced as she flexes hard onto her right leg, flaring her glistening quad...

You probably don't need me to tell you where to look!

What I'm looking at is a woman in absolutely the best condition she can be in, but whether I think she is actually perfect or not is besides the point. What is important is what Karen thought, and especially what Karen was feeling on that stage in 1995.

The image, it seems to me, shows that Karen has fully realised what Tanya Bunsell calls 'the latent image in her mind’s eye', the vision she has of her body at its most perfect.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

And how does it feel to realise that image?

She's smiling, her nostrils are flaring. Her eyes are closed.

I think we are looking at Karen's moment of ultimate ecstasy...

And whatever she did before or after that moment in 1995, at least we know that this (clearly) talented female bodybuilder had her moment. And thanks to the photographer, Karen's moment has been caught forever. Forever in ecstasy.

imagebam.com imagebam.com

Unfortunately, there's no footage that we know of of Karen at this show, but you can watch her routine from the North Americans. She's not in quite the same peak shape (only strengthening our argument that the Canadians was her peak), but at least you can get a feeling for her considerable stage presence for sure. She's on from 0.38 for about thirty glorious seconds in this round-up of the winners on YouTube.

And if by some bizarre chance Karen Smith is out there somewhere today and is an FMS reader (and don't laugh, you'd be surprised by some of the women who do read us, I'm sure) then please, Karen, we would absolutely love to have you get in touch and tell us how we've got it all completely wrong about what you were feeling in this picture...
