FBBUK: Clips of the Week

It's nearly Christmas, so not one, not two but three clips this week.

You lucky people!

And a slight return to the 2016 NABBA Universe for three more British competitors who didn't make the final cut when it came to last week's posts - two from Trained Figure, and the Toned Figure champion. Gird your loins for three of the flexiest, sexiest routines from the show. And all in NABBA-approved thongs!

LINDA CASSIDY (Northern Ireland)

We've had our heart rate's sent rocketing by Linda's routines on FMS before, and while this wasn't the funkiest performance of hers we've seen, she set pulses racing again. She was runner-up in the class last year. Not quite sure what it was that made the judges place her outside the top 6 this time. Certainly wasn't her pecs. Or legs. Or biceps. Or glutes. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement, she told her Facebook followers afterwards. FMS sincerely hopes this setback doesn't mean we won't see her again.

Up next, the woman who beat Monica Brant...

AMY WILSON (UK)
Winner Toned Figure

She was genuinely surprised when she was announced as the winner, beating not only Monica Brant, but also the UK champion Brittany Rhodes and the English champion Phoebe Little. Still, Amy did have winning 2016 form behind her, not in NABBA contests, but the fast-growing PCA, where she won the Toned Figure title at the UK finals. And she did put in a performance worthy of a champion for her routine...

A genuinely fascinating young woman, currently travelling in South-east Asia.
And you can follow Amy's adventures on her Instagram, and/or travel blog.

And finally...

EMMA HYNDMAN (UK)
6th Trained Figure I

Crowned the NABBA Britain Toned Figure champion in May, and the NABBA World Toned Figure champion in June, Emma competed (for the first time as far as I'm aware) in the more muscular Trained Figure class at the Universe, and gave her (many by the sounds of it) supporters and the rest of the audience a routine to remember.

This change of class, however, was not Emma's decision. So on Saturday at the NABBA Universe, says Emma, it was decided on the day by the judges that I no longer fit the Toned Figure criteria. Therefore, I was not allowed to step back on stage in that category as I wouldn't be judged, and my only other option was to be judged in the Trained Figure category if I wanted to compete. To say I was upset would be an understatement. I pulled myself together, pumped up beyond belief, begged my abs and thighs to make an appearance, then flexed the F**K out of my muscles on stage...

Oh yes she did!

Who Is Lea Pearl?

NABBA MUSCLE

Granted, the character of Lea Pearl is a professional female bodybuilder and all the women today are very much still in the very much still amateur NABBA federation, but who knows, maybe it's the super dark tans and the super ripped muscles and the super tiny thongs that the producers think will conjure up the world of female muscle best?

Sarah Mura

imagebam.com imagebam.com
imagebam.com imagebam.com

Britain's NABBA champion is Mrs Jolley now, having recently tied the knot. She may be a bit young for the role, but she cetainly has the looks, and if her 2016 version is as big an improvement on 2015 as Sarah in 2015 was compared to herself in 2014, she will certainly have more than enough muscle to carry off the role of a pro FBB.

Jody Shuttleworth

imagebam.com imagebam.com
imagebam.com imagebam.com

A real NABBA veteran, and, like a fine wine, improving with every passing year. Unlike that fine wine though the improvement is in the form of refined and downright freaky muscle. Film star beautiful, and mature enough to be believable in the role as well.

Sarah Hallett

imagebam.com imagebam.com
imagebam.com imagebam.com

If actually being mother and knowing all about the choices a top class female bodybuilder has to make regarding her family is going to be an advantage, then fire-fighter and NABBA muscle mum Sarah will be a strong candidate to play Lea Pearl. And if she did get the role it would be churlish of our "auteur" to miss the opportunity for some great close-ups of Sarah's vascular muscles in a pump room scene.

There has to be a pump room scene, right?!

imagebam.com

And if I may just bring one more lady who graces the NABBA ranks in for audition today, then let's make that woman Sarah's very own backstage bestie and one of FMS' 2015 NABBA faves to boot - Northern Ireland's most muscle sexy Linda Cassidy.

Any excuse to post one of her routines!

Auditions continue tomorrow.

NABBA Universe 2015

The first of two clip-packed posts this week and the first of a few that focus on contests - Theresa at the NPC Nationals is one (I may have mentioned that before) and the other, well, the other is a surprise - takes us to what you might call the spiritual home of British amateur bodybuilding, Southport in Lancashire, for our annual overload of shredded female muscle in thongtastic posing suits. Yes, it's the NABBA Universe.

Toned Figure, Winner
ALEX LARKIN (UK)

imagebam.com

Alex is new to the blog, and new to me, but of course that doesn't mean she hasn't been up to much until now. She is, for example, the reigning NABBA Ms North-east and Ms England in her category, and she also finished runner-up this year at NABBA Britain.

And found time to get up close and personal with Kizzy Vaines on a bike.

imagebam.com

Alex hails from West Yorkshire and trains at the same gym as another NABBA star we've featured on FMS before, Sally Knights. She only started competing last year - you can see her (ridiculously sexy) routine from her first show, the Open Yorkshire Classic, here - so winning so many titles in such a short space of time is quite something. And she was rightly proud. I competed against 17 other girls from 26 countries worldwide to come out on top!!! she gushed to her Instagram followers shortly after the show. I can't describe how I feel about this achievement.

Her friend and fellow pizza and peanut butter lover Natalie McKenna was runner-up, and Korean An Bokyung came third (click on their names for their routines). Alex is the third consecutive British NABBA Ms Universe in Toned Figure after Nicola Bentham (2012 and 2013) and Charlotte MacGill. And if you should fancy seeing a bit of Alex training her lovely bum, well, I know where you can find it - here.

Congratulations to our British winner!

Trained Figure

Class 2, 3rd
SARAH MURA (UK)

imagebam.com

Now here is a lady we've met before on FMS, Ms NABBA Britain Sarah Mura, who finished 3rd in the shorter of the two Trained Figure classes at her first Universe.

And damn was she looking good backstage.

imagebam.com
Sarah, right, with someone vaguely familiar

And far from shabby once that tight little grey number had come off and it was time to get those glorious glutes onto the stage. Currenly enjoying a well-earned holiday in the sun with her beau, Sarah confirmed her status as one of Britian's most exciting NABBA athletes here - and her choice of backstage company hasn't changed my mind about what I wrote about her in July, either: You suspect Sarah has a cheekier, racier, side than most. She is, for one thing, sponsored by the same supplements company as Lisa Cross, and if some of the posts on her Instagram ("sarahsynthol") are anything to go by, she has a similar outlook on muscle and sex as Britain's naughtiest.

Gentlemen, betting on this year's Rear of the Year has been closed.

Class 1, Runner-up
LINDA CASSIDY (UK)

Linda Cassidy gave the crowd a routine to remember and threatened our collective heart rates this time last year when she was finishing 5th in the taller Trained Figure class. And again this year County Down's funkiest Amazon gave another full body performance in a similarly minimal posing suit. No health warning was issued, but everyone seems to have survived, and Linda took home the runners-up trophy.

It's not always an easy task to find pictures of the NABBA ladies. Linda's on Facebook, but it's very much a page where she dishes out advice and motivational quotes to her personal training clientele rather than a page where there are pictures of herself and her lovely muscular body. If it were, you'd be looking at one right now.

Sarah and Linda were the top Brits, but before we move on to the winners, here are the rest of the ladies who finished in the top 6 in the two Trained Figure categories.

As above, just click on the ladies' names to view their routines at your leisure.

Trained Figure I (tall): 3rd, Regiane Basques Moreira (Brazil); 4th, Elodie Ducos (France); 5th, Anna Carolina Bittencourt (Brazil); and 6th, but by no means least, British NABBA veteran, Jody Shuttleworth, looking better than ever.

Trained Figure II (short): 2nd, NABBA legend Flora Conte (Italy); Sarah Mura in 3rd we've seen. Sadly the routines of Olga Permina (Russia, 4th), Mechelle Ihnat (UK, 5th), and, another Brit, Lindsey Angel (6th), aren't up yet, though you can see all the competitors in the class doing their thing in the comparison round here.

Class 2, Winner
CINARA POLIDO (Brazil)

imagebam.com

3rd in 2013 and runner-up last year, Brazil's reigning NABBA World champ Cinara Polido added the Ms Universe title to her collection here, and was well worth her win.

Cinara has been an FMS fave for a couple of years now, ever since her glorious glutes started twitching like crazy during her 2013 Universe routine, and we most recently caught up with her Brazilian thighs last month in our week of Rolling Thunder.

imagebam.com

Cinara's incredible transformation, and many many more pictures of this Brazilian NABBA goddess, can be enjoyed further on her Facebook and/or Instagram pages.

Class 1, Winner & Overall Figure Ms Universe
DARIA DIOSSI (Russia)

imagebam.com

It's been quite a few months for the very un-Russian sounding Daria Diossi.

First, she won the NABBA Latvia-Lithuania Open (above), and then went on to claim the WFF Universe Superbody title. And since then, she's not only added the NABBA Universe to her rapidly growing collection, but also the WFF World title as well!

imagebam.com
Daria with her WFF World trophy and tiara

Here's 7 magnificent minutes of footage of this stunningly beautiful woman performing her routine, winning her class, and finally outmuscling Cinara in the overall posedown.

More Daria? She's on Instagram, and you can see her WFF Universe routine here.

And there is a whole lot more from the show on the NABBA YouTube channel.

Fill your boots!

FBBUK@ NABBA Universe 2014

On October 26th the oldest bodybuilding show of them all, the NABBA Universe, took place at its long-time home of Southport on Merseyside. Since 1966, a Ms Universe has been crowned - 48 consecutive years by my reckoning - and Ms Universe 2014 was Brazil's Dora Rodrigues. But, as always, there was a large contingent of fine British female physiques in the three "Figure" classes, doing their thing in their thongs.

TONED FIGURE

In recent years, this class has been the one where British women have enjoyed the most success, and this show was no exception, with Brits first and second.

imagebam.com

You have to think that sooner or later that former UKBFF British Bikini champ Kelsey Yung (aka "TinkerKel") will walk off with the winner's trophy. She finished second (to the gorgeous Nicola Bentham) at the 2013 Universe, and also finished second (to Brazil's Caroline Crozeta) at this year's NABBA Worlds in Belfast in June. And here, once again, Barrow-in-Furness' finest had to settle for second place, though the fact that she is the reigning NABBA Ms Britain is probably some consolation.

imagebam.com

Beating Kelsey on this occasion was 26-year-old Charlotte MacGill from Bolton in Lancashire. Charlotte works (all these NABBA women are amateurs remember) as a sports rehab physio. It was only when she got her current job that she began training, inspired and encouraged by her bodybuilding boss, Stuart Cosgrove. He got me interested in weight training, she told a local newspaper after her win. I started to notice the changes in my body and went from there.

imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com

Within a year she had won the NABBA North-West show, and now has her first international title. Competing in international competitions is very rewarding and a lot of fun, she says. Especially so when you leave as the champ, I imagine!

TRAINED FIGURE II (short)

This class was packed with quality. This year's and last year's Overall Ms Universe winners (Dora Rodrigues and Italian NABBA veteran Flora Conte), the reigning NABBA Ms World (Auren Malvestiti of Brazil) and FMS fave Cinara Polido (with her involuntarily twitching glutes) made up the top four. However, two British women muscled their way into the placings, finishing in the same order as they had done at the NABBA Britain five months previously.

imagebam.com

Corinne Ingman from Harlow in Essex was awarded 6th place. She's a British powerlifting champion, a NABBA Figure competitor, and for her next trick she fancies taking on the UKBFF Physique class and gaining her pro card, apparently. Given the current trend towards muscularity in that class, she looks as if she has a great chance of making her mark there, which is slightly ironic when you learn that officials from the UKBFF once told her she was "too muscular" to be a Physique competitor!

imagebam.com

I think Corinne looks like the kind of woman who's prepared to strip down to the bare minimum and give everyone in the gym a good gander at her progress anytime she's feeling nice and pumped. In other words, she looks like FMS' kind of woman. One to watch for sure - and you can do so via her (regularly updated) Instagram.

Sadly, there's no video we can find of Corinne at the NABBA Universe, but we did find a clip of her routine at the NABBA Britain in May. So why not?

But we had the opposite problem for the woman who beat Corinne to the NABBA Britain title and finished one place above her again here. Despite an exhaustive search, we failed to turn up a single new picture of NABBA favourite Kay Goodwin that didn't have a big bad watermark on it - though we did find video (see below). You may remember Kay from previous posts, when, among other things, we reported that she had moved category from Toned to Trained Figure this year.

Success has followed. In 2014 she won her first (regional) show in the class, took the Ms Britain title, and has finished as top Brit at both the NABBA Worlds and now the NABBA Universe. Guess more muscle suits her! I first caught the "bodybuilding bug" after going to see a friend compete in a show, Kay says. Seeing all the girls on stage, all glammed up looking fabulous and the physiques on display was inspiring and got me thinking "could I really do that?" Turns out she could. She really really could.

TRAINED FIGURE I (tall)

imagebam.com imagebam.com

Northern Ireland's positively Amazonian Linda Cassidy finished 5th in the taller of the two Trained Figure classes, and I can pretty much guarantee that though her routine (as with all NABBA routines) is over too quickly for my liking, you will not forget it once you've seen it. Linda is a personal trainer at The Columbia Gym in Banbridge, County Down, who specialises in "high risk" clients - ones who have been referred to the gym via their GP, that is. Seems to me having Linda put you through your paces would be pretty "high risk" to most male heart rates...

imagebam.com imagebam.com
imagebam.com imagebam.com

And finally, the familiar face of Wales' most muscular female firefighter, Sarah Hallett, who placed 3rd, higher than any other British Trained Figure competitor.

imagebam.com

She says she's gone through some "big life changes this year", but the package she brought to the Universe stage was just as hard and vascular as she always seems to be. Readers may be familiar with her work for Fit Vids, and I can assure you that if you do decide to put your hand in your pocket and fork out for the whole video set, you will be treated to some of the most insane vascularity you have ever seen. Highlights include the cameraman's audible gasp as Sarah flexes her abs, and a seemingly never-ending set of bicep curls that leaves her entire upper body covered in pumping cord-like veins. Seriously, buy it (he said, shamelessly angling for a free Fit Vids pass!!!)

Sarah's on Instagram

Congratulations to all the UK's NABBA Universe women, whether they've made it into the post or not. We'll be meeting one more on Friday, but in the meantime, enjoy!
