The Games Are Coming: Nicole Zapoli

Nicole didn't qualify for the Games this year, but that hasn't stopped our CrossFit correspondent Aiden from naming her among his five-to-watch. And why should it? She is, after all, a CrossFit Gymnastics Seminar Leader, and being as she lives in California and all, she's bound to be hanging around the main event in some capacity.

When you're locking the gym up real quick and are faced with the reality that you may not be dressed appropriately to go run errands in public! writes the woman known as "Z", explaining the above selfie. Well... too bad for all y'all who are offended by gym clothes. It's happening! This happens all the time in California, right?

Nicole has been a CrossFitter since 2009, and a mother since 2005.
She's a lady

I started walking at the age of six months, says Nicole. Dancing at the age of two, and competing in Artistic Gymnastics at the age of six. By the age of fourteen I had the opportunity to train at the United States Olympic Training Center and was a 4-time Texas State Champion in Rhythmic Gymnastics, 4-time Junior Olympian, and a member of the US Junior Olympic Academic Team. I continued competing up through high school when I suddenly decided to try out for my school’s number one nationally-ranked competitive Cheerleading squad. It was one of the best decisions I ever made and I had an absolute blast! I cheered competitively for three years becoming a three-time All-American cheerleader, and following high school I cheered professionally for the Houston Texans and Houston Rockets... Phew!

Nicole realised a lifelong dream and opened her own gym in 2012.

Read more about her life and achievements (we have barely scratched the surface of what this remarkable woman has got up to here) on Nicole's website, and see plenty of Nicole doing her CrossFit thing - outdoor weightlifting, for example - on Instagram.

Tomorrow, another FMS CrossFitter pick.
